This paper presents the possibilities of controlling a robotic arm using voice commands with the use of an external API responsible for speech-to-text translation. The article describes the creative process of designing the robot model and user interface included in the simulator used to control the robot. The software was developed in the Unreal Engine 4.27.2 environment using the built-in visual programming language - blueprint, as well as C++ and Python. The three-dimensional model was created entirely in Blender 3D software. The simulator's task is to faithfully reproduce manipulation of simple objects in real-time, as well as record and load the manipulator's trajectory along with all objects on the scene.

This paper introduces an approach for magnetic field simultaneous localization and mapping by leveraging Reduced-Rank Gaussian process Regression. The proposed algorithm aims to improve the efficiency and accuracy of magnetic field-based localization in environments with spatial variations. The methodology involves representing the magnetic field potential as a sum of basis functions. The use of Reduced-Rank Gaussian process Regression facilitates a streamlined representation, enabling faster computation and reduced storage requirements. Then, two estimation methods are designed: an Extended Kalman Filter and Iterative Extended Kalman Filter methods to estimate the states of the dynamic model. Simulation results have demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed approaches in estimating the true dynamic states, with slight improvement of the Iterative Extended Kalman Filter accuracy at certain magnetic field length scales, compared to the Extended Kalman Filter design.

The power plant operation simulator is a system that can simulate a power plant for various operating conditions. Therefore, the fidelity to the power plant is an important factor. But in general, fidelity tends to decrease with longer operation period. One of the reasons is that it is difficult to reflect performance changes due to deterioration or aging of power plant facilities. In order to solve these issues, we describe the simulation system with a process model parameter tuning function based on power plant operation data. We analyze four types of optimization algorithms by applying parameter tuning, and confirmed the error rate of around 1% compared to the actual data through the method. The developed simulator is installed and has been operating in the power plant site. In addition, in connection with other simulator, more detailed and analytical simulation is possible as needed.

This research aims to implement Ziegler-Nichols' method in tuning a PID controller for regulating the temperature of paddy during the drying process, referred to as the paddy temperature-controlled drying method (PTC method). The PTC performance and the quality of the dried paddy were compared with those of the air temperature-controlled drying method (ATC method). In the PTC method, the paddy temperature was consistently maintained at 42 degrees C, while in the ATC method, the paddy was dried using hot air at constant temperatures of 60 degrees C, 80 degrees C, and 100 degrees C, respectively. It was found that the PID controller can effectively compensate for process errors. Although the maximum overshooting was 7.14%, the system was able to reach a settling time of 43 minutes, and process errors decreased with process duration. When comparing the PTC and ATC method at 60 degrees C of hot air temperature, the PTC method exhibited a higher drying rate and superior rice quality compared to ATC method by 15.21% and 6%, respectively. However, the specific energy consumption was found to be similar.

For many small and medium-sized companies in Germany, maintaining best practices on the shopfloor is essential for competitiveness. Due to the impending wave of retirements and the changing employment patterns of the younger generations, there is a risk that knowledge will be lost when employees leave. This calls for innovative solutions for the digital capture, storage and provision of knowledge. This article presents a method that uses machine learning to capture hand movements and thus generate event logs for evaluation based on process mining. Using an example from manual assembly, it is shown how this system can be used to record the actions of different employees and analyze them from an efficiency and ergonomic point of view in order to gain an insight into the individual strategies, routines and tricks of the employees during assembly and make them usable for everyone.

Self-Balancing lower-limb exoskeletons are being developed to assist individuals with mobility impairments, enabling them to achieve bipedal locomotion and navigate complex environments. However, falls pose a significant risk, potentially causing serious harm to the user wearing the exoskeleton. Existing approaches to fall detection, such as those based on Support Vector Machines (SVM) may not account for different controllers and motion capabilities. This paper presents a novel fall prediction method for self-balancing lower-limb exoskeletons using Gaussian process Classification (GPC). Our method leverages the probabilistic nature of GPC to enhance prediction accuracy and robustness with a limited amount of training data. Simulation results demonstrate that the GPC-based method outperforms SVM in both accuracy and lead time for fall detection. These findings underscore the potential of GPC to improve the safety and reliability of lower-limb exoskeletons, making them more effective in real-world applications.

Modeling has an important role in systems biology because it can provide a better understanding of biological systems. Advances in biological systems have introduced a series of challenges, such as the repetition of components (cells), their variation and hierarchical organization. There is a wide variety of modeling approaches, including Petri nets, Brane calculi, and P systems. In this paper we propose an approach based on an object-oriented Petri net formalism, which encodes a category of P systems, denoted by dynamical P systems. In addition, we show the validity of the modeling method by modeling a viral infection process with the influenza virus.
