Charkadio Cave, on Tilos Island, is one of the richest Mediterranean fossiliferous sites, preserving remains of the dwarf elephant Palaeoloxodon tiliensis. This species is considered to be the last European elephant. recent advances in the fields of engineering and imaging technology and their applications in palaeontology have allowed the digitization, modelling and 3d printing of skeletal remains of P. tiliensis for the first time. Taphonomical data were combined with appropriate mathematical methods and allometric analyses in order to determine missing bone measurements and estimate correct relative proportions of skeletal elements. Computed Tomography and non-contact digitization via Laser Scanning were used in order to capture the specimens' surface morphology and create 3d models that are adjusted to the correct dimensions derived from the mathematical analyses. The 3d models were then 3d printed with the use of Rapid Prototyping technologies. A research potential of fossil 3d modeling could be its application in morphological comparisons between different taxa. In this study, atlas 3d models of P. tiliensis and Palaeoloxodon antiquus (Falconer and Cautley, 1847) have been combined in a single 3d model that quantifies morphological differences by a color scale, thus minimizing observation error. 3d models and 3d printed replicas facilitate and enhance inter-institutional scientific interaction, minimizing costs and risks related to the transfer of irreplaceable fossil specimens. Finally, a positive outcome related to the above research could be its application in educational activities hosted in institutes such as schools, universities and museums. This paper is about the research of the combination of PM technique with traditional animation. It can help designers create a more authentic experience exceeding to traditional animation technique. In PM concrete practicing, designers can shadow movie on an object on regular and irregular surfaces. In recent years, PM technology is applied by more and more film productions, and prevails in many advertisement and art festivals. In the concrete design steps, firstly, makes a cube, two of these cubes' corner has been cut off to create the irregular projection. Two regular projection cubes represent spring and summer, using the bamboo and Lotus character as projected content. The other two irregular cubes represent autumn and winter, using the chrysanthemum and plum character as projected content. And then the second step, the production of projected content, author applied ink painting style to make these four plants animation.

In recent years, systems have become large scale and complex due to the development of Internet of Things (IoT). Therefore, it becomes difficult to understand the influence of component specification changes that occur during the system development stage. Thus we focus on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MB SE), which is capable of expressing hierarchical structure and overviewing information. In this paper, we propose a method for analyzing the influence on the smart interactive service with digital health modeling caused by changes in system elements using index of network theory. As a conclusion, we clarified the degree of influence on the whole system caused by changing the specification of each component with using eigenvector centrality, which is one of the network indices.

In digital holographic microscopy (dHM) a hologram is captured in the image space provided by a microscope. The transfer of the phase and amplitude structure in the original sample to the hologram is in fact strongly affected by the use of the imaging microscope. A big research effort has been devoted to correct these distortions both by numerical and optical compensation. In this contribution, we present several proposals to improve the performance of classical dHM architectures by an a priori approach to compensate physically these perturbations. Experimental results are also presented to validate the proposed techniques.

In the last decade advances in the fields of close-range photogrammetry, terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) and computer vision (CV) have enabled to collect different kind of information about a Cultural Heritage objects and to carry out highly accurate 3d models. Additionally, the integration between laser scanning technology and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is gaining particular interest in recent years for structural analysis of built heritage, since the increasing computational capabilities allow to manipulate large datasets. In this note we illustrate the approach adopted for surveying, 3d modeling and structural analysis of Villa Revedin-Bolasco, a magnificent historical building located in the small walled town of Castelfranco Veneto, in northern Italy. In 2012 CIRGEO was charged by the University of Padova to carry out a survey of the Villa and Park, as preliminary step for subsequent restoration works. The inner geometry of the Villa was captured with two Leica disto d3a BT hand-held laser meters, while the outer walls of the building were surveyed with a Leica C10 and a Faro Focus 3d 120 terrestrial laser scanners. Ancillary GNSS measurements were also collected for 3d laser model georeferencing. A solid model was then generated from the laser global point cloud in Rhinoceros software, and portion of it was used for simulation in a Finite Element Analysis (FEA). In the paper we discuss in detail all the steps and challenges addressed and solutions adopted concerning the survey, solid modeling and FEA from laser scanning data of the historical complex of Villa Revedin-Bolasco.

digital twins that serve as virtual representations of real-world objects and structures, are used in various applications for urban environments. Challenges for creating and maintaining digital twins involve data acquisition, fusion of heterogeneous data types, AI-based data analysis, and the integration into existing applications and workflows. In this paper, we present the concept and implementation of a dynamic digital twin from a city's perspective. The concept avoids explicit modeling to simplify the creation of a comprehensive data basis that can be easily updated frequently. 3d point clouds with semantics are used as representations for static objects and structures, such as buildings, infrastructure and subsurface structures. dynamic aspects are represented through a time series of sensor data to enable real-time monitoring and change detection applications. A centralized data repository for applications, such as infrastructure monitoring, condition assessment, and inventory management represent a basis to support decisions. We present typical use cases and challenges from the perspective of a city and how the dynamic digital twins can create significant added value.

Nowadays, ultrasound diagnostic imaging is one of the non-invasive techniques mostly used in the clinical practice. recent advances in this field have brought to the development of small and portable systems. New bidimensional probes consisting of 2d phased arrays, allow to obtain real-time 3d representations of moving organs and blood vessels anatomy. Being the complexity of such 4d ultrasound imaging systems significantly increased, new challenges concerning electronics integration arise for designers. In this paper a software simulator is described, which has been developed in order to model ultrasound wave generation, pressure field distribution and echoes reception, with the aim to become a useful tool for optimizing the probe design. The paper mainly focuses on linear ultrasound field modeling;preliminary results on non-linear interactions with contrast agents are also here introduced.

This paper introduces a novel technique for transforming 2d floor plans into 3d models by combining image processing and augmented reality. The method involves using a smartphone camera to scan a 2d blueprint, followed by extracting the layout and dimensions of the area using computer vision algorithms. Augmented reality techniques are then applied to generate a 3d model that can be manipulated and navigated in real-time. The effectiveness and efficiency of the approach were evaluated using real-world floor plans, and the results were promising. The method has the potential to revolutionize the way architects and designers produce and present floor plans, providing a more immersive and interactive experience that can improve communication and collaboration among design teams. Clients can also benefit from this approach as it can assist them in comprehending and visualizing their designs. data acquisition from 2d transducer arrays is one of the main challenges for the development of emerging miniature 3d ultrasound imaging devices, such as 3d trans-esophageal (TEE) and intra-cardiac echocardiography (ICE) probes (Fig. 10.5.1). The main obstacle lies in the mismatch between the large number of transducer elements (103 to 104) and the limited cable count (<200). recent advances in transducer-on-CMOS integration have enabled the use of in-probe subarray beamforming based on delay-and-sum (dAS) circuits [1] to reduce the channel count by an order of magnitude. Further reduction calls for in-probe digitization to enable more advanced data processing and compression in the digital domain. However, prior designs [2-4] compromise on transducer pitch (> half wavelength) to accommodate the AdC and consume >9mW/element, which translates into unacceptable self-heating in miniature 3d probes.

CMOS Image Sensors (CIS) are fundamental to emerging visual computing applications. While conventional CIS are purely imaging devices for capturing images, increasingly CIS integrate processing capabilities such as deep Neural Network (dNN). Computational CIS expand the architecture design space, but to date no comprehensive energy model exists. This paper proposes CAMJ, a detailed energy modeling framework that provides a component-level energy breakdown for computational CIS and is validated against nine recent CIS chips. We use CamJ to demonstrate three use-cases that explore architectural trade-offs including computing in vs. off CIS, 2d vs. 3d-stacked CIS design, and analog vs. digital processing inside CIS.
