In the oil and gas industry, downhole well integrity risk management is an important aspect for safe operations, and for optimizing production and overall costs. Diagnosis and evaluation services used by operators for these well integrity management programs include leak detection, corrosion inspection and cement evaluation. However, effective measurements for this critical task are more challenging when there is tubing or completion in the well, in front of casings that need to be evaluated. This paper presents the recent developments of through-tubing cement evaluation (TTCE) techniques with focus on applications, benefits, and limitations. Novel solutions to enhance data quality, while optimizing costs and improving safety, are also discussed. There are several techniques currently used to evaluate cement quality behind casing with pressure testing being the most common hydraulic method to confirm a seal. In terms of logging techniques to determine the cement bond across the interval of interest, temperature logs were very common in the past but have since made way for sonic logs, ultrasonic logs, intelligent completion systems and others. Generally, these logging techniques require direct access to the casing or liner being evaluated and do not provide reliable answers when a tubing is in front of it. More recently however, sensing technologies, data processing and interpretation from these techniques has evolved thereby helping to overcome the signal attenuation and noise from the interface between the sensor and the actual cement sheath. This paper summarizes key findings and insights which form part of ongoing research and provides an overview of the methods and procedures involved in each technique. The elaborated processes in conducting TTCE and the challenges and limitations associated with each technique are also discussed. This paper presents the design of a Radio Frequency IDentification antenna (RFID Antenna) in Super-High-Frequency band (SHF Band) radiated at the resonant frequency of 2.45 GHz, simulated with CST Studio electromagnetic simulation software. The patch antenna is a perfect electrical conductor, excited by a coaxial cable with a 50 Ohms impedance. The antenna is designed as a rectangular patch with a U-shaped slot of 35.5 × 26 mm² placed on a Rogers RO4350B substrate, dimension 71 × 47 mm². The antenna has a perfect adaptation and covers a frequency band of 2393.0-2569.5 MHz with a bandwidth of 176.5 MHz. Therefore, this bandwidth is sufficient for industrial applications that use wireless sensor networks for monitoring parameters like: temperature, humidity, and pressure.

In this paper, we present the integration of MQTT for sensor Networks (MQTT-SN) into OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA) as a novel publish/subscribe (PubSub) protocol binding in order to enhance the industrial communication stack. By leveraging the lightweight MQTT-SN protocol, which is currently not considered in the architecture, we improve OPC UA's capability for high-frequency, low-latency messaging, which is essential for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications. We discuss related work and describe the design and implementation in detail. Our hybrid approach combines the rich data modeling and security capabilities of OPC UA with the communication efficiency of MQTT-SN, providing a scalable solution for real- time data management in industrial automation systems.

Underwater Wireless sensor Networks (UWSNs) have received tremendous concern and interest in recent years. They find many applications, from underwater exploration and monitoring to naval and marine operations. However, due to the harsh and challenging aquatic environmental conditions, the networks have to face challenges such as limited bandwidth, long latency, and packet loss, which makes the communication channel unreliable. Numerous approaches have been proposed to enhance reliable data transmission in UWSNs. These approaches range from protocol modification to specialized algorithms tailored to UWSN requirements. This paper explores UWSNs, focusing on their applications, challenges, and reliability protocols. It provides a comparative analysis of different reliability protocols, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, it examines available simulators and testbeds for UWSNs and their approaches to ensuring reliable data transfer.

In the paper is described the selection of appropriate sensors and information systems for a Mobile Service Robot with collaborative functions requires a comprehensive methodology that takes into account the purpose of the robot, it's environment and the specific requirements of the applications to be used. This paper examines the role and features in the design of the sensor Information System of this class of robots. The specifics of the sensor-information systems for the purposes of service robotics and the most commonly used sensors are discussed. A graphical representation of the algorithm for selecting suitable sensors for the purposes of the design task is presented. A variant of sensor classification for the needs of the developed algorithm is also included.

Multi-sensor Fusion (MSF) is pivotal in advancing autonomous driving technologies. MSF has numerous challenges, such as data synchronization, noise reduction, and managing the high-dimensional data from diverse sensors. Despite these complexities, MSF remains crucial for enhancing perception systems in autonomous vehicles. This research paper introduces an innovative MSF approach using deep neural networks that significantly heightens vehicle detection capabilities. By integrating camera, LiDAR, and RADAR data with an uncertainty estimation framework, the system showcases superior object detection accuracy. It outshines existing methodologies in both mean Average Precision and processing speed, underpinning its aptitude for real-time applications in autonomous vehicle navigation, even in complex driving environments.

With the technological advancements, development of underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSN s) has engrossed many researchers from both academia and industry for monitoring the vast unexplored underwater domain which is almost 70% of the earth. The networks of sensor that works under the water have the potential to unexplored or uncover the applications to enhance the ability to predict the ocean behaviour. It is assessed that ninety-five percent of its oceans are still remnants uncultivated and unobserved by human eyes. The transmission of information rather than wireless information is among one of the emerging or prominent technologies for the development of an underwater sensor network that works as an ocean observation system. The sensed data from different monitoring applications is used in large applications. In this survey, we discuss several fundamental key aspects of underwater wireless sensor network communications. The objective of this paper is to encourage research efforts to lay down a fundamental basis for the development of new advanced communication techniques for efficient underwater communication. In addition, we survey current state-of-the-art research in data collection techniques used in UWSN. We present an in-depth discussion of the wireless networks and their different types, moving towards UWSN architecture, data collection for effective communication, applications, challenges, applications advantages, and disadvantages with the performance comparison of various existing data collection techniques. This manuscript will facilitate the readers to a better understanding of routing protocols for data collection in UWSN s with the basic concept of underwater networks. © 2021 IEEE.

This study proposes an effective measurement of aspheric surfaces using arcuate region scanning method by 2D laser displacement sensor. In a global coordinate system, the point cloud data of each arcuate region in aspheric surface are obtained successively, coordinated with the rotation of the rotating platform and the transverse movement of the 2D laser displacement sensor in a fixed step size. When scanning different areas, it is necessary to calculate the scanning angle gap and included angle according to different scanning length of arc. Then the aspheric surface error could be calculated through the reconstruction consequence. It can be used for in-situ measurement in the processing stage of aspheric mirrors. We present an experiment compared with the measurement results of PGI to verify the validity of this measurement method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Elderly standing imbalance is a critical public health concern, demanding robust and accurate detection techniques for improved safety and well-being. In this paper, we propose a novel method employing unsupervised learning and Denoising Autoencoder with Multi-Layer Perceptron networks, along with a custom adaptive Huber loss function and activation function, to classify standing states in elderly individuals. The existing Standing imbalance detection research includes difficulties such as addressing irregularities in pressure sensor data, largely stressing binary classification due to algorithmic efficiency considerations while dealing with heavy-tailed data. The approach utilizes open-source smart insole datasets, capturing left and right foot pressure data. The ensemble model DAE-MLP efficiently captures the temporal dynamics of the imbalance scores produced using the Noise-resilient robust mean estimator, enabling accurate and robust classification. This method adapts to varied degrees of data imbalance, resulting in more accurate learning. Through comprehensive evaluations, our method achieves an overall accuracy of 94 percentage on a test dataset with 53 instances. This approach serves as a proactive standing imbalance detection system for the elderly, enhancing safety and quality of life by identifying and addressing standing imbalance risks. Our research introduces an innovative solution, paving the way for advancements in elderly healthcare and safety, reducing the risk of falls and related injuries. © 2023 IEEE.

Recent advancements in polymer composite development have paved the way for cost-effective solutions in flexible tactile and pressure sensors. This paper explores the potential of a polyethylene-carbon composite material, specifically AF-1361, for flexible sensor design. The study focuses on analyzing the material's behavior regarding resistivity changes induced by external forces, particularly investigating the roles of percolation phenomena and quantum tunneling. Additionally, the research examines changes in the resistance of flexible sensors in response to various magnitudes of applied force. The insights obtained from this study contribute to understanding the potential applications of AF-1361 in sensor technology and highlight its effectiveness in fabricating flexible sensors.
