This work presents for a new exposed core surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor that makes use of a photonic crystal fiber with an asymmetrical elliptic air hole (PCF), which is renowned for its exceptional sensibility. The gold-plated fiber of this versatile sensor enables it to detect changes in refractive index (RI) for analytes over a wide range of 1.28 to 1.42. Specifically focusing on RI changes at the external surface, the sensor demonstrates impressive sensing performance, including an prime wavelength sensitivity regarding 97,000 nm/RIU as well as a prime amplitude sensitivity regarding 529.20 RIU -1 . Additionally, it achieves the resolution regarding $\mathbf{9.09}\times \mathbf{10}^{-\mathbf{6}}$ RIU, the FOM is 170 RIU -1 , the FWHM is also 570 nm, and here a detection of accuracy is 0.016666nm -1 . Utilizing a concentration range of 0% to 45% over time, the suggested sensor is useful for monitoring sucrose solutions. Beyond sucrose, the sensor demonstrates promising sensing capabilities for identifying various biochemical and organic samples, making it a valuable tool in biomedical sensing, lower RI analysis, and chemical analysis. Its structure, featuring eight elliptical air holes, is straightforward and easily manufacturable using existing technologies, thus facilitating practical application.

Multi-object tracking and multi-sensor fusion algorithms are used in many areas of science and technology. For example, in an advanced field such as autonomous vehicles, multi-object tracking and multi-sensor fusion are indispensable technologies. The purpose of these technologies is to processing noisy measurements from different sensors to determine the number and state of objects with high accuracy. Some of the algorithms frequently used in multi-object tracking applications are Global Nearest Neighbor Filter (GNN), Joint Probabilistic Data Association Filter (JPDA), Multiple Hypothesis Tracking (MHT), Probability Hypothesis Density Filter (PHD), and other algorithms. These algorithms are very effective for estimating the state of objects and can combine measurements from multiple sensors to improve estimation accuracy [1,2]. But an even more powerful tool for multi-object tracking is the Poisson multi-Bernoulli mixture filter (PMBM Filter) [1]. In this paper, we will introduce the PMBM filter and simulate an algorithm using a PMBM filter that combines measurements from multiple automotive sensors to estimates object's states. At the same time, we also compare the performance of the aforementioned algorithms in some specific simulation scenarios. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper presents an innovative approach that combines visual odometry, Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), and wheel odometry, using the Extended Kalman Filter and Unscented Kalman Filter to enhance mobile robot localization and mapping. The primary goal is to improve localization accuracy and robustness while providing a cost-effective alternative to traditional SLAM methods that rely on expensive LIDAR and RGBD camera systems. By integrating visual odometry, IMU data, and wheel odometry our method not only enhances precision and robustness of the mobile robot localization system but also reduces the financial burden associated with high-end sensor hardware. This fusion creates a reliable solution, particularly suited for resource-constrained environments. Our research contributes to the democratization of SLAM technologies, making them more accessible to a wider range of applications. The results presented in this report showcase the potential of our approach. This paper highlights the pivotal role of multi-sensor fusion framework which significantly enhances localization accuracy and robustness.

Against the backdrop of the rapid development of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology, onboard visual navigation systems have become the core support technology for achieving precise positioning and efficient map construction of UAVs. This paper deeply explores the key technologies of sensor data spatiotemporal synchronization in onboard visual navigation systems, aiming to solve the synchronization issues in multi-sensor data fusion in variable environments, and enhance the navigation accuracy and reliability of UAVs. The research covers both spatial and temporal synchronization dimensions, with a focus on the technical implementation of Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO). For spatial synchronization, a target-based method is proposed to construct an error equation for solving the extrinsic parameters between the camera and the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), achieving precise alignment of sensor coordinate systems through the identification and matching of visual target feature points. In terms of temporal synchronization, considering the data frequency differences between the camera and IMU, this paper designs a time alignment strategy that realizes efficient temporal alignment of data through data buffering and timestamp matching. Additionally, the initialization and local sliding window optimization process of the Visual-Inertial Odometry are detailed, achieving high-precision fusion of visual and inertial data through feature extraction, optical flow tracking, and motion structure recovery. Experimental results show that the methods proposed in this paper can technically provide strong support for the autonomous flight of UAVs, effectively improving the navigation performance of UAVs in complex environments, and enhancing the robustness of the system.

This bibliometric analysis focuses on the evolution and trends of the Kalman Filters (KFs) studies in the Internet of Things (IoT) from the year 2009 to 2023. This being a data-intensive study, it uses the information from major academic databases, which it adapts to explore key terms, publication patterns, and the interdisciplinary nature of the research. The paper comes out with a sharp increase of the research in 2015, which corresponds to growing of the research interest to the application of KFs for IoT. Key points of the study accentuate the role of KFs in IoT, especially in respect of the betterment of the systems for indoor positioning, global positioning, and sensor data fusion. This software proves the KFs are in the spotlight in IoT by helping to improve localization accuracy and data processing. The research highlights progress in filtering methods, for example, extended and unscented Kalman filters, evidently to improve state estimation and predictive analytics in dynamic contexts. Furthermore, KFs research scope includes novel areas such as machine learning and deep learning, which indicates the possibility of using this technology as a tool for advancing IoT. The rapid growth of technology in this area also presents challenges, a part of those are the data privacy and security problems in complex IoT environments. The paper emphasizes the major part KFs are playing in driving IoT technology and also stresses the type of interdisciplinary studies that are needed to navigate the changing landscape of IoT applications. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Wearable devices have rapidly evolved as essential tools for continuous health monitoring. However challenges persist in achieving high-accuracy physiological data acquisition due to issues such as suboptimal sensor placement and environmental interference. To overcome these limitations, we introduce a wearable ear sensor designed to offer comprehensive and reliable physiological monitoring. The sensor integrates different sensing modalities, including electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG), within a compact, user-friendly form optimized for long-term wear. Utilizing biocompatible polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for in-ear electrodes and a lightweight reference electrode, the device ensures stable contact and signal fidelity. The designed signal acquisition system is able to realize low-noise amplification and adaptive signal processing, enabling accurate detection of low-amplitude bioelectrical signals. Experimental validation demonstrates the sensor's capability to capture and analyze physiological signals associated with various activities, such as eye movements and respiratory rhythms. The findings highlight the potential of ear-worn sensors in advancing wearable health monitoring technologies, with applications in both clinical and consumer health contexts.

This paper presents a secure and flexible process integration approach enabling distributed data fusion in military IoT applications. It seamlessly combines two recently developed technologies, the Dynamic Process Integration Framework and Martello, a Data Centric Security approach. The emphasis is on secure composition of heterogeneous services, corresponding to different types of algorithms as well as data sources that can be distributed over a system of networked computing nodes. The approach supports a relevant class of decision support functions that distil actionable information in environments characterized through dynamic constellations of sensors and computing services, limited communication bandwidth and stringent security requirements. Such functions contribute key elements of Information Driven Operation that can significantly improve the speed, quality and coverage of the OODA loops in challenging settings, such as Federated Mission Networks.

On-chip optical combiners with high coupling efficiency can be fully exploited in both multiple gas sensing devices and telecommunication applications. In this paper, we will review the enabling technologies and discuss the basic operating characteristics of broadband optical couplers. In particular, the design of optimized, broadband optical duplexers based on angled multimode interference (AMMI) and directional coupler (DC) configurations will be detailed. A rigorous comparison between both configurations will be reported. The preliminary fabrication results of the duplexer will be detailed and, finally, the recent advances in the development of design and optimisation of duplexer and triplexer couplers having higher optical coupling efficiency at broadband regime will be also presented. © 2023 IEEE.
