In certain situations, GPS-based wheeled robots are ineffective in places where GPS signals are unavailable or unreliable, such as remote areas and indoor spaces. As a result, GPS independent autonomous wheeled robots are gaining importance for applications like warehouse management, autonomous delivery, healthcare assistance, smart building automation, indoor transportation systems, and robotic assistance for elderly or disabled individuals. This paper proposes a GPS independent navigation system for wheeled robots, enabling them to autonomously follow predefined paths and to strategically avoid obstacles during its mobility. The robot modifies its route in real-time, according to obstacle detection. The wheeled robot utilizes linear regression machine learning technique to predict and avoid future obstacles. The system incorporates ultrasonic sensors for obstacle detection, wheel encoders to track wheel rotations and distance traveled, and a gyroscope for orientation control. This allows the robot to detect changes in its rotational movement and to correct its mobility or direction accordingly. By dynamically adjusting the wheeled robot's path and travel time based on sensor inputs, the system ensures smooth navigation in cluttered or remote environments. Obtained Experimental results indicates that our proposed navigation model outperforms existing systems in path efficiency and obstacle avoidance, offering a more reliable and efficient GPS-independent navigation solution.

Landslides pose a severe threat to mountainous regions, often resulting in catastrophic damage and loss of life. Existing prediction methods rely on limited data sources and infrequent monitoring, leading to delays in early warnings. Previous technologies have explored individual sensor applications, such as Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) and seismic sensors, but lack a comprehensive multi-sensor approach with real-time processing. Notable cases, like the Wayanad landslides in Kerala, India, highlight the urgent need for advanced predictive systems. This study proposes an AI-driven landslide prediction system using a network of 40 sensor-equipped slave kits. Each kit integrates GPR, seismic, Electromagnetic Induction (EMI), ultrasonic, LiDAR, capacitance probes, gravimeters, Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT), and magnetometers onto a Teensy 4.1 microcontroller with an ESP8266 for wireless data transmission. Data is processed at a central master unit featuring a Jetson Nano module, employing the ALEXNET+BILSTM model for real-time analysis of soil stability and landslide risk. By leveraging edge computing, this system enables rapid decision-making and early warnings, addressing the limitations of existing methods. Its scalable, cost-effective architecture enhances environmental monitoring, offering a robust solution for landslide-prone communities and significantly improving disaster preparedness.

The rapid advancement of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) has heightened the importance of reliable, real-time data transmission in Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs). However, congestion in data-heavy Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled networks remains a critical challenge, impacting communication efficiency and decision-making in ITS. In high-density IoT-ITS applications, traditional congestion control methods are insufficient to address the complexity and dynamics of data flows. Existing solutions often fail to adapt in real time to varying traffic loads, leading to delays and data loss. There is a strong need for a congestion alleviation framework capable of intelligently prioritizing data while dynamically managing network resources to ensure seamless information exchange in large-scale deployments. This study presents a Cognitive Congestion Alleviation Framework in IoT-Enabled WSN for Next-Gen Intelligent Transport Systems via Optimized Capsule Attention Network (V-CapMiAN-Parr), which combines the Vectorized Adaptive Capsule Neural Network (V-AdCapNet) and Multi-instance Attention Network (MAN), fine-tuned by the Parrot Optimizer (ParrOpt). This integration aims to effectively detect, mitigate, and prevent congestion through an advanced capsule-based attention mechanism with adaptive optimization. The suggested V-CapMiAN-Parr framework demonstrated significant improvements in congestion control, achieving data throughput efficiencies above 99.7%, packet delivery rates above 99.5%, and network reliability reaching 99.2% under high traffic loads. The model's adaptive weighting mechanism ensures real-time responsiveness and reliability, crucial for next-gen ITS applications. The V-CapMiAN-Parr framework effectively addresses congestion issues in IoT-enabled WSNs, providing a robust, scalable solution for ITS applications. IoT (Internet of Things) has revolutionized various industries, and water management is no exception. This abstract introduces an IoT-based water management system designed to address the challenges of water scarcity, pollution, and inefficient distribution. Leveraging IoT devices like sensors, actuators, and communication modules, the system creates a networked infrastructure for real-time monitoring and management of water resources. sensors deployed throughout the water distribution network collect data on flow, pressure, quality, and consumption patterns, which is then transmitted to a central server or cloud platform. The system instantly detects pipe leakage and promptly halts the water flow, even in the absence of human presence. This automated response helps prevent water scarcity. The system supports remote monitoring and control via web-based dashboards or mobile applications, facilitating proactive maintenance and troubleshooting. Additionally, it provides data analytics and reporting functionalities, empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions and promote water conservation initiatives. Overall, this IoT-based water management system offers a comprehensive solution to enhance sustainability, efficiency, and resilience in water distribution networks.

This paper presents the design and implementation of a Knock Detecting Door Lock System, aimed at enhancing security by eliminating traditional lock and key mechanisms. The proposed system utilizes an ESP32-based setup to detect specific knocking patterns, ensuring that only authorized individuals can unlock the door. The system addresses common security issues associated with key duplication and passcode vulnerabilities by relying on a personalized knocking sequence. Key features include the ability to set, and update knocking patterns, detect discrepancies, and maintain a balance between security and convenience. The hardware components include an ESP32, piezo sensors, and a servo motor, while the software is developed using the Arduino IDE. It can also incorporate two-factor authentication by generating a One-Time Password (OTP) when a valid knocking pattern is recognized. The OTP is sent to the user’s mobile device as an additional verification step before access is granted. By integrating the knock-based mechanism with the OTP feature, this system offers a robust, user-friendly solution that addresses both analog and digital security needs. The system’s innovative approach offers a cost-effective, efficient, and secure solution for modern door locking needs, with potential applications in various settings, including residential and commercial properties.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is projected to connect more than 50 billion devices by 2020, and its rapid growth has significantly influenced sectors such as smart cities, healthcare, agriculture, and military operations. IoT supports applications like smart appliances, waste management, and traffic monitoring, contributing to reductions in CO2 emissions. At the core of IoT functionality lies the Wireless sensor Network (WSN), which consists of distributed sensors that collect and transmit data for various uses. The primary aim of IoT is to enable seamless connectivity between devices, allowing any object to access information in real time. However, due to the characteristics of wireless communication, device limitations, and system range, IoT systems face serious security threats such as identity spoofing and message tampering. Traditional centralized security approaches, like Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), are often costly and ineffective for large-scale IoT networks, leading to challenges in integration and scalability. To enhance security, reliability, and scalability in IoT, this research proposes the Trust Circle Framework, a decentralized authentication system that incorporates blockchain technology and machine learning. The framework emphasizes adaptability to the decentralized nature of IoT without reliance on centralized security systems. It enables the addition of new services, facilitates smooth device communication, and aligns with multiple IoT standards. Experimental outcomes show that this approach offers improved authentication accuracy, decreased latency, and heightened resistance to cyber threats compared to conventional methods. Blockchain technology provides immutable identity verification and protects against data manipulation and spoofing. Moreover, machine learning algorithms enable adaptive threat detection, allowing the system to distinguish between legitimate and harmful nodes. This paper investigates the application of Bacterial Foraging Optimization (BFO) for optimizing node placement in Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs). Efficient node placement is crucial for enhancing network coverage, connectivity, and energy efficiency. BFO, inspired by bacterial foraging behavior, is particularly suited for this task due to its ability to adaptively explore and exploit search spaces. The study compares BFO against traditional optimization methods like Genetic Algorithms (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), highlighting its superior performance in achieving optimal node configurations. Experimental results demonstrate significant improvements in coverage, connectivity, and energy consumption metrics, validating BFO as an effective tool for optimizing WSN deployments. This paper proposes a virtualized Internet of Services (IoS) space framework for connected objects. The framework allows to expose the connected objects sensor capabilities, functionalities and data as virtual sensor services and advertise these services to social network sites in addition to service registries for the enablement of a connected people IoS space. In this regard, we develop lightweight ontologies both for sensor capabilities and functionalities and the IoS space. The paper also offers a policy based service execution approach to abate the traffic to and from a sensor node which in turns increases the sensor node battery life. We select an electrical vehicle as case study and implement a proof-of-concept by using semantic technologies and Sun SPOT sensor platform.

Small satellite clustered systems are getting increasingly affordable as a sensing infrastructure for earth observation. New earth observation applications are being conceived and capability of existing ones gets augmented by such systems. A small satellites constellation flying in low earth orbit (LEO) offers high fidelity spatial and temporal data which has applications in various urban management tasks, like detecting and monitoring constructions, green cover, traffic management, etc. A region can potentially be imaged by multiple satellites, based on their tracks. Given a set of such regions, the ground control assigns and schedules collection tasks to the satellites in the constellation. Given multiple constraints related to kinematics of the satellites, windows of observations, and communication to ground station;the problem of observation task assignment is known to be computationally hard. Several optimization techniques are proposed in literature. However, these optimizations do not take into account the environmental disturbances which may occlude sensor view and render collected data useless for processing. Tolerance to such external disturbances can be mitigated through redundancy in schedule, but at the cost of generating and transferring larger data volume to ground stations. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) usually operate over long periods of deployment in places hard to be reached by human. Reprogrammability is essential to achieve flexible WSNs that have already been deployed in field and in use. Dissemination protocols are necessary for reprogramming a WSN. In this paper, we give a review on existing dissemination protocols for reprogramming WSNs, and discuss related research issues and trends in this area.
