Nowadays, due to global warming, which is alarmingly increasing and causing natural calamities worldwide, due to counter impact, the world is talking much about green energy, natural resources, etc. In this paper, we discussed one of the popular networks, wireless sensor networks, which has gained popularity since it has been widely used in remote sensing applications. These networks can provide information about places where the government must concentrate to reduce the emission of gases which will affect the environment. Wireless sensor networks consist of sensor nodes, which are small gadgets powered by batteries and have limited energy resources. As a result of this limitation, these networks have a reduced lifespan. By employing various routing protocols, it is possible to extend the lifespans of Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs). LEACH, a protocol known for its low energy use, serves as an exemplar of such protocols. This study enhanced the M-LEACH (Multi-hop) protocol by integrating the real-time energy status of sensor nodes into the cluster head selection process. This approach enhances the overall lifespan of the network and addresses the problem of selecting low-energy nodes as cluster heads. Proper nutrition is essential for maintaining health and well-being, particularly in children who are in critical stages of growth. Poor dietary habits can lead to deficiencies and increase the risk of chronic conditions such as anorexia and obesity. Children, unlike adults, often struggle to consume well-balanced meals, especially in childcare settings where meal intake may go unnoticed. This study introduces an automated food monitoring system designed to promote healthier eating habits for both children and adults. By considering factors such as age, weight, and location, the system provides personalized dietary recommendations. Using load cell sensors, it measures meal weight and tracks nutrient consumption over time, with data accessible through a user-friendly application and website. A survey conducted on children aged 4 to 10 years highlights the system's effectiveness in addressing nutritional gaps and fostering healthier dietary choices, supporting a preventive approach to long-term health.

Wireless sensor network (WSN) technology has become an essential constituent of our lives in health care, homes, food, and vehicles. Nonetheless, the sensors in WSNs naturally have limited device lifecycle due to serious energy-constraints, and so cannot guarantee to satisfy the QoS (Quality of Service) demands of different monitoring applications. This presents a significant setback to the effective application of WSNs in real-word. Therefore, to enhance the lifecycles of WSNs, it is fundamental to improve the energy management at the nodes as they are mostly set-out in geographically isolated zones. To achieve this, several communications mechanisms for energy-management and reliable routing operations is required. In this paper, we examine energy-management and the reliable routing mechanisms of WSNs with specific emphases on mobile and static deployments. We also consider fundamental design challenges and mechanisms to deal with routing challenges posed by innate constraints of the node. We assess various recent routing schemes for energy management in WSNs and propose an application-specific time-driven distributed routing scheme named Wi-Fi-based multi-hop routing algorithm (WMHR). We show the performance of the proposed WMHR in terms of energy -saving in comparison with other classical time-driven routing models. © 2022 IEEE.

Energy stability and network lifetime are most challenging aspects in Internet of Things (IoT) in todays’ smart world. Clustering is an effective option for sustaining energy stability and network lifetime in IoT as the process of grouping nodes into clusters with efficient cluster head (CH) selection increases the probability of dramatically reducing energy consumption. However, potential selection of CHs is necessary in IoT as it is widely adopted in crucial applications which include smart agriculture and forest monitoring. In this paper, Snow Leopard Optimization Algorithm-based CH Selection Strategy (SLOACHSS) is proposed for maximizing energy stability and network lifespan by achieving optimized data routing in IoT. This proposed SLOACHSS achieves the process of clustering using steps that includes selection of CHs using SLOA and cluster formation. The process of CHs selection is achieved through the application of two different fitness functions that include energy possessed by CHs, and factor of inter-cluster and intra-cluster distance. SLOACHSS is proposed with phases of traveling of routes, hunting, reproduction, and mortality for balancing the rate of exploration and exploitation during CH selection in IoT. The simulation experiments of the proposed SLOACHSS confirm 23.21% improved energy consumption and 21.98% improved throughput in contrast to standard schemes for varying number of sensor nodes in the network. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering, a widely employed and sophisticated data analysis method, offers a robust structure for handling intricate and uncertain data patterns. Its versatility extends to numerous domains, such as data mining, pattern recognition, and image segmentation. Unlike conventional hard clustering approaches, FCM is particularly suitable for scenarios involving ambiguous and overlapping data by assigning data points to distinct clusters with varying degrees of membership. This synopsis provides a summary of FCM, with particular emphasis on its core concepts, iterative optimization process, and capability to handle complex data patterns. It also describes the practical benefits and applications of FCM, emphasizing how it can be utilized to generate flexible and nuanced cluster assignments. In Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs), the paramount concern revolves around energy efficiency, aiming to extend the network's operational lifespan. Achieving this objective encompasses several key facets that collectively contribute to the network's longevity and robustness. Firstly, developing cutting-edge routing algorithms and protocols plays a pivotal role. Secondly, energy efficiency has been increased through a suite of optimization techniques. These encompass the fine-tuning of routing paths, reduction of redundant packet transmissions, and the application of data aggregation and compression methods. These measures minimise redundant data transmissions, and sensor nodes can operate for extended durations without necessitating battery replacements. Thirdly, novel energy routing techniques address the challenge of balancing energy consumption among nodes. These methods dynamically adjust routing paths and traffic distribution, mitigating energy depletion disparities. This balanced energy consumption fosters network resilience and prevents premature node failures, ultimately bolstering the network's lifespan. Lastly, an essential component of energy-efficient transmission involves harnessing energy harvesting techniques. This strategy aims to replenish sensor node energy reserves by seamlessly integrating energy-harvesting mechanisms into the network. The optimization of energy scheduling and utilization based on energy availability and node requirements reduces the network's reliance on finite battery power, facilitating prolonged network operation through the utilization of renewable energy sources.

The amount of water vapours in the air can affect the productivity and safety of many manufacturing processes such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductor industries as well as human comfort. The humidity sensors based on porous materials such as PAA have persuaded much attention because of their high porosity and tuneable structure. In this work, we have developed a Porous Anodic Alumina (PAA) capacitive sensor using phosphoric acid electrolyte by the Differential Pulse Voltammetry method of anodization. The PAA-based humidity sensor shows ultra-high sensitivity, fast response, and a wide detection range of relative humidity (RH). Response and recovery time of the sensor are ~ 16 s and ~ 4 s, respectively at 64 RH%, and the sensor is capable of sensing 1-100 RH%. These results advocate that PAA is a propitious applicant for various humidity sensing applications, especially where low humidity detection is required i.e., paper, lithium-ion battery, tea industries, etc. © The Electrochemical Society

In Wireless sensory Networks (WSNs) a pivotal role will be in collection and disseminating process of sensitive data across various applications of domains, ranges from healthcare to industrial automation process. However, the inherently vulnerabilities to wireless communication as it exposes these networks to a potential security threat. In response to the challenges, the current research proposes a robust and adaptable encryption supportive system. By leveraging renowned Rivest Cipher mechanism, to enhances data protection in WSNs. The proposed system is named as RivaDataGuard which integrates the time-tested Rivest Cipher algorithm for providing a formidable defensive process against unauthorized access and data breaches. It is known that Rivest Cipher for its strength in confidentiality and data-integrity to ensures a secured communication channel within the WSN infrastructure. It will employ a dynamically varying management system, facilitating the generation and distribution of cryptographically generated keys to sensory nodes. This dynamic approach will enhance the system's resilience to attacks by ensuring that even if one Nodal point will be in malicious behavioral, the overall network performance will remain secure. This adaptability of Proposed methodology will not only optimize performance but also it minimizes power consumption which is a crucial factor for resource-constrained sensory nodes. For performance evaluation, the proposed system will undergo a rigorous testing and evaluation for validating its effectiveness in dynamically varying scenarios.

Image big data has become pervasive in today's world. Every day huge volumes of data are being transferred across systems. Significant advancements have been made in networking and file transfer technologies. Due to the remarkable expansion of network infrastructures, multimedia transmission has become inevitable. Image data is being produced at a faster rate and the variety of data types is expanding rapidly. A number of big data-related surveillance applications use wireless image sensor networks (WISN). Important and sensitive data must be hidden from different hackers trying to break into the system. So, encryption is used to hide sensitive information from various hackers. Lorenz attractor along with the chaotic maps are used to withstand statistical attacks. Dual confusion and dual diffusion are implemented so as to ensure maximum chaos and makes the encryption system strong against attacks. The pixels of the image are scrambled using logistic maps so that only authorized users can decipher it. Through the integration of tent map and logistic map, this study approaches an efficient image encryption algorithm.

Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) have been identified as important in cloud assisted internet of things (IoT) applications such as remote monitoring and energy saving. However, energy consumption and having limited network life time are still the major challenges in WSNs. Conventional methods of energy optimization does not achieve an optimal balance between avoiding overhead and effective communication. To overcome these drawbacks, this work presents a new Similarity-Navigated Graph Neural Network with Running City Game Optimizer (SNGNN-RCGO) model for energy optimization in IoT-WSN structures. It has a wireless sensor layer at the application tier, interconnecting layer at the middle tier, and the cloud layer at the software tier. SNGNN also reduces the energy usage by grouping nodes with similar nodes but excludes low energy node in the group. RCGO enable SNGNN hyperparameters tuning by exploiting exploration-exploitation trade-off while GBO enables efficient route and cluster head selection. In this regard, the proposed SNGNN-RCGO finds the highest residual energy (361.32 units) for node and network life time up to 1809 rounds with 195 alive nodes proving better energy efficiency. It also reduces the overall network overhead to 2 units and realizes the smallest end-to-end delay of 41.3 ms, which explains its efficiency and effectiveness for IoT and WSN. The proposed approach thus eliminates shortcomings of prior techniques since it enhances network energy efficiency and network lifetime with little added cost and complexity.
