This paper proposes a virtualized Internet of Services (IoS) space framework for connected objects. The framework allows to expose the connected objects sensor capabilities, functionalities and data as virtual sensor services and advertise these services to social network sites in addition to service registries for the enablement of a connected people IoS space. In this regard, we develop lightweight ontologies both for sensor capabilities and functionalities and the IoS space. The paper also offers a policy based service execution approach to abate the traffic to and from a sensor node which in turns increases the sensor node battery life. We select an electrical vehicle as case study and implement a proof-of-concept by using semantic technologies and Sun SPOT sensor platform.

The development of a smart irrigation system is critical in addressing water conservation and enhancing agri-cultural practices. The design and implementation of a control system aimed at regulating water delivery to plants based on critical factors such as soil moisture, weather conditions and specific plant requirements is presented in this paper. The system assimilates various control methodologies, including PID control, root locus analysis, frequency response analysis, state space representation, and digital control techniques. For modeling, simulation and testing of the system, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of its performance, Simulink is used. The proposed smart irrigation system demonstrates substantial improvements in water use efficiency and plant health by dynamically adjusting irrigation schedules in response to real-time environmental data. To further promote this technology in sustainable agriculture, future enhancements and real-world applications are discussed.

Real-time data acquisition and its analysis has emerged as a powerful paradigm shift across numerous fields due to the ever-increasing popularity of IoT technologies that support WSNs. However, this presents us with a challenging issue, primarily because the management of such systems is decentralized and since they are generally designed to operate with scarce resources, confirming the integrity of data, enforcing security, and establishing trust is an extremely hard problem to solve. In relation to the present study, blockchain technology is explored as a possible solution to these challenges within the context of this article. To discover prior works on blockchain-based framework. The strength or advantages of the frameworks are described in terms of methodology, application as well as the weaknesses or drawbacks of each. Some of our contributions include the following: identification of areas that need improvement on existing implementations; presenting a conceptual framework; and synthesis of important assessment factors across numerous applications. The insights are meant to guide future work on actual enhancements in the design of WSN-IoT systems that are safer, more aligned with scalability, and more efficient.

This paper proposes a hybrid communication system for integration within the space-air-ground-sea network (SAGSIN) architecture, tailored for 6G Internet of Things (6GIoT) applications. The system employs a triple-hop link combining Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RF-RIS), Free Space Optics (FSO), and Underwater Wireless Optical Communication (UWOC), facilitating communication between a base station, a lighthouse, a ship, and Underwater Aerial Vehicles (UWAVs). The architecture, using differential phaseshift keying, is ideal for Underwater Optical Wireless sensor Networks (UOWSNs) and Internet of Underwater Things (IoUT). Performance analysis models RF-RIS with Nakagamim distribution, the FSO link with the Malaga distribution, and the UWOC link using the Exponential Generalized Gamma (EGG) distribution. The system's end-to-end cumulative distribution function (CDF) is evaluated via the Meijer-G function, while outage probability is examined under varying conditions, including atmospheric turbulence, fading parameters, and salinity levels. This system shows promise for coastal environments with changing weather conditions like rain, haze, and fog.

The positioning of nodes in a sensor network has an effect in its performance. In this paper, two predefined configurations are compared to the random distribution to gauge the magnitude of the effect on energy consumption of each type of sensor allocation. The experiments assume a flat, obstacle free, rectangular field, with Directed Diffusion used as routing protocol, and random different positions for the querying entity (sink) and the event location in the field. The results confirm that in an environment such as this, it is worth investing in the uniform positioning of sensors as they offer a significant performance gain.
