The building of CubeSats has given rise to a novel platform for carrying outa range of space missions, presenting affordable options for technical progress and scientific research. The design and construction of a CubeSat, especially suited for infrared (IR)imaging and sensor data transmission applications, are presented in this abstract. Miniaturized infrared imaging sensors and cutting-edge communication systems are used inthe CubeSat architecture to facilitate data transmission. The principal goal of the CubeSat isto acquire high-resolution infrared photographs of the Earth’s surface, which will aid in resource management, environmental monitoring, and disaster assessment. To improve our comprehension of Earth’s climate dynamics, the CubeSat also has a variety of sensor payloads to gather environmental data, including temperature, humidity, and atmospheric composition. Using infrared imaging technologies. With the use of infrared imaging technology, thermal anomalies and environmental changes can be detected with great spatial precision, providing important information about numerous occurrences, including urbanheat islands, wildfires, and the output of agriculture. The CubeSat is outfitted with a small sized but reliable communication system that can send sensor data in real-time to ground stations to enable efficient data transmission. Sophisticated on board operations featuresallow for data optimization and compression, guaranteeing effective bandwidth use and reducing latency. In addition, the CubeSat uses cutting-edge data encryption methods to guarantee the confidentiality and integrity of data transfers, protecting private data from unwanted access. © 2025 the Author(s).

The surge in flexible and wearable electronics, fueled by advancements in smart technologies and growing market demand, has highlighted the importance of auxetic sensors for applications in healthcare, medical rehabilitation, soft robotics, and human-machine interfaces. For widespread adoption, these sensors must offer high sensitivity, substantial stretchability, and long-term durability. This study explores the possibilities of realizing such wearable soft sensors based on conductive thermoplastic polyurethane (cTPU) 3D printing enhanced with auxetic mechanical metamaterials. Following simultaneous empirical mechanical and electrical measurements, auxetic soft sensor designs were compared with numerical simulations. Results suggest that such soft sensors based on metamaterials are great candidates for applications in healthcare and robotics when realized with 3D printing. © 2025 IEEE.

Indoor target tracking presents significant challenges across various fields such as security surveillance, industrial automation, and healthcare. This research paper outlines the design and implementation of a reliable direction monitoring system aimed at achieving accurate indoor target tracking using IoT and wireless sensor networks. By utilizing advanced sensor technologies and sophisticated data processing algorithms, the proposed system enables real-time monitoring and precise localization of targets within indoor spaces. The combination of IoT devices and wireless sensor networks facilitates effective data collection, analysis, and visualization, thereby improving the overall performance of the monitoring system. The results indicate that the developed system is effective in accurately tracking and localizing targets, fulfilling the essential requirement for efficient indoor direction monitoring solutions. The paper concludes with a discussion on the practical implications and potential applications of this system, emphasizing its importance in enhancing indoor target localization across diverse sectors. © 2025 IEEE.

Against the backdrop of the rapid development of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology, onboard visual navigation systems have become the core support technology for achieving precise positioning and efficient map construction of UAVs. This paper deeply explores the key technologies of sensor data spatiotemporal synchronization in onboard visual navigation systems, aiming to solve the synchronization issues in multi-sensor data fusion in variable environments, and enhance the navigation accuracy and reliability of UAVs. The research covers both spatial and temporal synchronization dimensions, with a focus on the technical implementation of Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO). For spatial synchronization, a target-based method is proposed to construct an error equation for solving the extrinsic parameters between the camera and the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), achieving precise alignment of sensor coordinate systems through the identification and matching of visual target feature points. In terms of temporal synchronization, considering the data frequency differences between the camera and IMU, this paper designs a time alignment strategy that realizes efficient temporal alignment of data through data buffering and timestamp matching. Additionally, the initialization and local sliding window optimization process of the Visual-Inertial Odometry are detailed, achieving high-precision fusion of visual and inertial data through feature extraction, optical flow tracking, and motion structure recovery. Experimental results show that the methods proposed in this paper can technically provide strong support for the autonomous flight of UAVs, effectively improving the navigation performance of UAVs in complex environments, and enhancing the robustness of the system. © 2025 IEEE.

A significant advancement in sensor-based technologies has led to a rapid expansion of applications for the Internet of Things (IoT), which can be used to build any real-time monitoring system. This expansion can be attributed to the significant advancement in sensor-based technologies. Nowadays, an increasing number of elderly people live alone in various locations worldwide, and it is essential to monitor the current state in which their health function or activity is critical. Human activity recognition (HAR) technology based on wearable sensors has many applications, including healthcare, fitness, smart homes, and surveillance. However, despite extensive computational research on HAR, multi-sensor-based activity recognition has numerous open challenges. One of these challenges is recognising complex temporal data, identifying discriminate feature vectors from multi-modal data and reducing data dimensionality. These issues necessitate extensive research. The Internet of Things (IoT) is the foundation for this paper’s proposed human activity monitoring model. Using innovative sensor-based technologies, the model is designed to examine the actions of elderly people continuously. This model collects vital information using intelligent sensors or devices powered by the Internet of Things (IoT). Machine learning algorithms analyse this data to identify potential human behaviour risks that can be deduced from their actions. The proposed work’s utility is assessed using a dataset made public by UCI. The findings of the experiments, which made use of several different metrics in addition to a parallel coordinate plot (PCP), indicate that the proposed ML-based HAR framework outperforms several state-of-the-art ML techniques and has the potential to achieve a maximum classification accuracy of 96.30%. Precision and energy-efficient sensor interfaces have always been needed in loT applications. To digitize weak signals (tens of mVs), such as shunt-based current and biomedical sensors, the interface should have low noise [1]-[4]. Moreover, to accommodate different use cases, the bandwidth (BW) and power dissipation of sensor interfaces should be highly scalable [5]-[7]. sensor interfaces based on discrete-time (DT) ADCs, such as SAR ADCs [8], [9] and FIA-based ΔΣ ADCs [5]-[7] are BW/power scalable, but they usually suffer from kT/C noise (Fig. 27.3.1 top, left). Using a continuous-time (CT) first stage, such as an instrumentation amplifier (IA) [1], [3], [4] (Fig. 27.3.1 top, right), or an active RC integrator [10], [11], can suppress the sampling noise of the following stages, however, they usually consume fixed static power, limiting their BW/power scalability. © 2025 IEEE.

In this study, an attitude filtering technique is proposed that adapts the bias type process noise uncertainties. To begin with, the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) methods are combined to estimate a satellite's attitude. Influence of the process noise bias type system changes to the innovation of EKF is investigated. It is proved that the bias type process noise change may be converted to the mean square of innovation of EKF and such type of changes can be compensated using the covariance scaling techniques. For the aim of estimating a satellite's attitude, simulations are compared utilizing the adaptive and non-adaptive versions of the unconventional attitude filter in the presence of process noise bias. Three different forms of attitude estimation methods were investigated in the condition of process noise bias, and the findings results were compared. The simulation results show that, in the investigated cases the multiple fading factors based adaptive SVD-aided EKF can adapt to the changing environment better than the nonadaptive algorithms.

Handwriting recognition technologies have evolved significantly, with recent advancements incorporating wearable devices such as smartpens, smartwatches, and smartphones to capture motion and gesture data. This paper reviews various efficient handwriting recognition models that utilize inertial sensors, visual sensors, EMG sensors, and acoustic and Wi-Fi signals. Inertial sensor-based approaches often use accelerometers and gyroscopes to collect three-dimensional data during handwriting, with models achieving high accuracy in recognizing digits and alphabets. Visual sensor-based techniques, leveraging cameras and image processing, have been fundamental in developing Optical Character Recognition (OCR), further enhanced by deep learning algorithms. EMG sensors have been explored for their potential to capture muscle activity for gesture recognition. At the same time, acoustic and WiFi signal-based methods offer innovative ways to recognize handwriting through sound and signal variation. Despite the progress, challenges such as sensor drift, data generalization, and computational requirements persist. Integrating multi-modal sensors and advanced machine learning techniques holds promise for overcoming these limitations and improving the accuracy and usability of handwriting recognition systems across diverse applications.

This paper discusses the design and implementation of a wearable electrodermal activity (EDA) sensor intended to detect subtle changes in skin conductivity, which are indicative of emotional states such as stress and anxiety, thus monitoring stress and arousal levels through advanced machine learning techniques. The device incorporates innovative conductive lycra combined with silver-silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) electrodes, enabling optimal skin contact and enhancing signal reliability. This integration allows for effective measurement of EDA. Utilizing the XGBoost algorithm, our machine learning model was trained on the ASCERTAIN dataset, achieving an overall accuracy of approximately 77% in predicting levels of arousal. While the model exhibited some challenges in predicting intermediate arousal states, it demonstrated strong precision and recall for extreme levels of arousal, underscoring its potential applications in mental health monitoring and human-computer interaction. The capabilities of this wearable technology for continuous and long-term health monitoring pave the way for further research into stress assessment and the understanding of emotional responses, emphasizing its relevance in enhancing psychological well-being. © 2025 by SCITEPRESS– Science and Technology Publications, Lda.

Problems of control of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are investigated. The problem of developing an automatic controller to maintain the spatial position of UAVs is addressed. The spatial position here is altitude, yaw, roll and pitch angles. It is assumed that the initial information comes from the MPU6000 type sensors. An approach to solving the problem of signal denoising and tuning is proposed. sensors of this type output loads (accelerometers) and angular velocities. To calculate the current angle, it is necessary to integrate the angular velocities. In doing so, it becomes necessary to solve two problems. First, angular velocities are measured in the local coordinate system, while the spatial position of the UAV is calculated relative to the global coordinate system. Second, when integrating angular velocities, the effect of error accumulation occurs. The possibilities of refining gyroscope readings based on accelerometer readings are investigated. A simulation program is developed on the basis of a mathematical model of quadcopter motion. The source of forces and torques acting on the system is the Earth's gravity, the thrust force and torques generated by the motors, and the drag force. Numerical methods are used to solve the system of equations. A PD controller is proposed to maintain the spatial position of the quadcopter. The coefficients are found experimentally. The proposed approach is verified in a computer simulation program.
