As a result of harsh environmental and operational conditions, the insulation system of transformer degrades, resulting in a reduced useful life. Transformer insulation degradation produces a variety of insulation degradation compounds and dissolved in oil. The concentration of these compounds in oil can be used to assess the health of an oil immersed transformer. In order to determine the ageing of insulation systems and the condition of transformers, 2-FAL (2-furfuryldehyde) and moisture are important degradation components. Hence, A Thin film made of graphene oxide have been used to detect moisture levels in transformer oil and 2-FAL levels. Capacitive sensors using molecular imprinted polymerization have been proposed to detect 2-FAL levels at ppm levels. Interdigitated electrode capacitive sensor has been utilized in numerous applications at low frequency. An of output capacitance variation was monitored with and moisture content to evaluate sensor performance. Therefore, sensor performance has been simulated for the IDT sensor with variable capacitance. It is particularly advantageous to fabricate interdigitated electrode structures on the patterned Cu foil using printed circuit board technology rather than using other technologies to fabricate this type of sensor. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a non-local means (NLM) co-processor with data reuse scheme and dual-clock domain for high resolution image sensor The key features are as follows: 1) The NLM is accelerated by the parallel pixel-level pipeline architecture with a compact single-port SRAM-based line buffer for serial-parallel conversion. 2) The algorithm is optimized by using L1 loss calculation instead of the L2 loss calculation for Similarity computing, and the fitted quantized look-up-table for exponential operations to reduce logic utilization;3) the data reuse method for the weights calculation reduces the area of the corresponding circuit by 6/7;4) Most of the parallel computing are implemented in the fast core, which runs at twice the pixel clock frequency, thus halve the amount of computation per cycle. The architecture achieves a real-time denoising at 60 frames/second for full high definition (FHD 1920× 1080) videos with the energy efficiency of only 36.22 mW/frame. © 2023 IEEE.

Biological sensors, including biosensors and biomimetic sensors, have gained significant attention in recent years due to their exceptional capabilities in detecting and monitoring pollutants in water environments. These sensors employ biological components such as bacteria, Fungi, enzymes, antibodies, microbial cells, or biomimetic materials to recognize and quantify specific contaminants to pathogens, with high sensitivity and selectivity. This review provides an in-depth analysis of the current state-of-the-art in biological sensor technology for water quality assessment. It discusses the underlying principles of biological sensing mechanisms and explores recent advances in sensor fabrication, including materials, immobilization techniques, and signal transduction methods. Moreover, the review examines the diverse applications of biological sensors in water monitoring, ranging from detecting chemical pollutants to assessing microbial contamination. Additionally, challenges such as stability, reproducibility, and field deployment are addressed, along with future directions for research and development to further enhance the performance and applicability of biological sensors in safeguarding water resources and public health. Here, we employed three models - SVM, logistic regression (LR), and random forest (RF) - to determine the biological and chemical components of water, such as bacteria, fungi, enzymes, antibodies, microbial cells, or biomimetic materials, in order to determine whether it is being utilized for drinking water. Because there are fewer datasets available for biological and chemical components, the dataset was created using machine learning (ML) models. Three machine learning models were used to calculate water pollutants percentages, with SVM proving most effective for irrigation and domestic water, and LR for drinking water, resulting in accurate water supply. © 2024 IEEE.

Using internally integrated sensors, this work tackles the major difficulty of establishing robust and accurate proprioception in soft robots working under loose packing limitations. Instead of assuming constant curvature, we use a modified off-the-shelf resistive sensor to detect local deformations at several places. Across the soft body, we improve the resolution of local deformations by forming several electrical connections. With an average relative error of around 4%, our method incorporates these sensor measurements into a finite element method (FEM) model to estimate the soft body form and magnitude of external force. Especially, our technique uses fuzzy logic which allows for internal fluidic actuation. Promising for soft manipulation platforms, the suggested integrated sensing and modelling approach shows a 13% relative inaccuracy in external force computation within the 0 to 5 N range. © 2024 IEEE.

The variable speed wind energy conversion system (VSWECS) is a promising technology and a viable option for off-grid applications in distributed energy systems. The permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) can be used as a wind generator in VSWECS due to its advantages, such as increased energy capture, reduced mechanical stress, lack of external supply for the field, wide operating range, high efficiency, lightweight and compact design, and reduced noise and vibration. In this article, the maximum power extraction from the VSWECS is obtained using a single load voltage sensor-based maximum power point extraction (MPPT) method. The proposed MPPT scheme is easy to implement and efficient to track the peak power by observing the ratio of change in voltage to change in duty cycle. The performance of the proposed MPPT method is verified and compared with the conventional MPPT method at wind speed and load change conditions. The load voltage-based algorithm produces a two-level steady-state operation, and it works with only one sensor that makes the system less costly. © 2023 IEEE.

Recent times have overseen exceedingly high crime rates, and the appalling situation demands additional personal security measures. In light of the new advancements in technology, the demand for wireless systems has witnessed tremendous affinity, with major domains rapidly attempting to adopt the technique into their custom applications. Security is one such domain where wireless technology has thescope to achieve numerous practical applications. In one such instance, this study deploys the WiFi protocol over an intruder detection system using a TI LaunchPadMSP430. The TI launchpad is connected to the NuttyFi board which provides it with the internet connectivity required to put it online. The motion sensor acts as the input device that triggers the alarm which triggers output devices for intruder warning, in this case, a buzzerin parallel. The system also updates the alert in real-time online over the Blynk web server. This article combines embedded programming, wireless communication, hardware components, and sensing to build an intruder alert system. Using a page from technological baskets like IoT, RF, andembedded systems, the system fulfils a crucial requirement of the current society. Cross-platform usage boosts the utility of this system, putting it in the hands of millions of users. © 2024 IEEE.

From environmental monitoring to industrial automation, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are essential in many different applications. However, the reliability and robustness of WSNs are often compromised by faults such as node failures, communication disruptions, and data packet losses. This paper presents a comprehensive approach to fault management in WSNs, encompassing fault detection, localization, and recovery strategies. In the fault detection phase, machine learning techniques, including the utilization of the MobileNet model, are employed to classify normal and faulty behavior based on sensor data. Statistical analysis methods, such as hypothesis testing, complement machine learning approaches to detect anomalies in sensor readings. A hybrid approach combining machine learning with rule-based systems enhances fault detection accuracy. Subsequently, fault localization techniques leverage network topology analysis and localization algorithms to identify the location of faulty nodes within the network. By analyzing the connectivity between nodes and potential communication paths, vulnerable areas are pinpointed, facilitating efficient fault localization efforts. In the fault recovery phase, dynamic reconfiguration algorithms dynamically adjust network routing and data aggregation strategies in response to detected faults. Redundancy mechanisms, dynamic reconfiguration, and load balancing techniques are deployed to mitigate the impact of node failures and ensure uninterrupted data flow. © 2024 IEEE.
