With the inception of Industry 4.0, incorporating technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) into healthcare has become essential. This integration is commonly referred to as the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT). The IoMT is the connection of medical devices using wired or wireless data transmission technology to allow data exchange with the goal of improving the overall healthcare delivery. Despite the numerous advantages that IoMT brings into the healthcare process, there are potential performance challenges that may occur if factors such as data quality and reliability of the IoT devices in different environmental settings are not properly considered. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the performance of connected medical IoT devices that are used for heartrate monitoring based on the aforementioned factors. The setup of the IoMT consists of sensor nodes, which transmit the Electrocardiogram (ECG) data through a multi-protocol gateway to a central server for further data processing. This paper presents the performance analysis of the comparison of four communication technologies: Serial (UART), Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Wi-Fi, and 5G NR for real-time ECG monitoring applications, while taking notice of environmental factors that may affect performance. The sensor data transmission is evaluated based on round trip time (RTT) latency, ensuring a desirable throughput and minimal or no data loss. The data readings were taken at varying distances (0.1m to 17m) and sampling rates (300Hz and 1000Hz). The experimental results show that while Serial communication achieves the lowest latency (3.96ms 4.37ms), Wi-Fi demonstrates consistent Gateway-Server performance (40ms 60ms RTT), 5G excels in short-range communication (1.8ms 2.0ms sensor Node-Gateway RTT), and BLE provides balanced performance (4.86ms 7.57ms latency). Wi-Fi performed better in long-range scenarios (43.48ms 66.23ms RTT) and maintaining stable performance at longer ranges while 5G shows superior

In the contemporary landscape, the agricultural sector has undergone transformational changes, embracing progressive dynamics through the integration of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies. The global adoption of IoT, AI/ML, and similar innovations reflects their capacity to furnish precise, reliable, and consistent outcomes, enabling data-driven decision-making. The amalgamation of IoT and ML models emerges as a strategic choice to enhance data analytics, aiming at a substantial improvement in both the quantity and quality of agricultural yields. This paper seeks to elucidate the synergistic interaction of various agrarian elements, orchestrating the computational prowess facilitated by ML models and data derived from IoT sensors transmitted through LoRa-based Wireless sensor Network (WSN) infrastructure. The proposed system advocates a comprehensive three-tier architectural framework, wherein ML and IoT systems collaborate seamlessly to process data for field management. The envisioned system extends its utility by translating these predictions into visually comprehensible representations. The integrated approach signifies a departure from conventional methods, offering a novel pathway to ensure the sustainability of yield, encompassing both production and grading standards. This research introduces a unique self-regulated multi-layer method for evaluating error correction techniques in Wireless Acoustic sensor Networks (WASNs), focusing on the effects of multi-node routing and the broadcast nature of wireless channels across various network levels. By thoroughly comparing forward error correction (FEC), automatic repeat request (ARQ), and hybrid ARQ algorithms, the study shows that hybrid ARQ and FEC systems significantly enhance communication error robustness. These improvements can reduce transmission power or extend node distances in multi-node networks. Results indicate that longer node distances reduce energy consumption and end-to-end delay for hybrid ARQ and specific FEC codes, crucial for real-time, delay-sensitive applications. Additionally, the benefits of FEC codes increase with network density, though transmit power management introduces delays for some codes. The study also identifies scenarios where ARQ is more effective than FEC codes, depending on target packet error rates and distances. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This paper deals with the design and application of a Polydimethlysiloxane (PDMS) and Multi-Wall Carbon Nanotubes (MwCNT) flexible sensor. A flexible sensor can be prepared using numerous techniques, for example, encapsulation of flexible base over dried out disperse layer. A sensor with good sensitivity to physical stress was shaped out. The surface topography and composition were analyzed using SEM, and the crystallinity, polymorphy, and molecular interactions were studied through Raman spectroscopy. This paper explores the use of the sensor so formed in biomedical applications. The sensor was deployed on the cervical spine region to study motions of the spine and determine a bracket for normal motion range. This study simulates and examinesthe MEMS design process for a hypothetical sensor with an electromechanical interface. Conceptualizing the sensor entails establishing its purpose, operational environment, and capacitive sensing mechanism for sensitivity and precision. Geometric and physical models are developed using advanced COMSOL Multiphysics software to create a moveable proof mass supported by micro-fabricated beams. Static and dynamic finite element analysis (FEA) simulations can be used to evaluate the sensor’s mechanical reaction to input signals and electrode electrostatic forces. This guarantees that mechanical signals are properly transformed into electrical signals. These data are evaluated to determine the best performance criteria such as sensitivity, linearity, and thermal stability, resulting in iterative design improvements. Robustness analysis, including tolerance and FMEA, ensures dependability. Additionally, typical MEMS manufacturing technologies are being examined for fabrication. A significant shift in contemporary medical treatment is represented by combining Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) into telemedicine, virtual medical treatments, and remote patient monitoring. An increasing elderly demographic, the rise of chronic illnesses, and unequal access to healthcare treatment are driving up the need for worldwide medical structures, and AI is emerging as a key instrument in tackling these urgent problems. This investigation utilized a smart monitoring gadget with an IoT emphasis to monitor the heart rate of elderly people. The device tracks patients' GPS statistics in real-time and informs healthcare professionals of any confinement violations for any emergency. The smart sensor connects to a networking interface in the IoT cloud, which processes and analyzes data to determine bodily functioning. The suggested architecture has 3 levels of functionality: a cloud tier with Application Peripherals Interfaces for mobile gadgets, smart IoT detectors, and smartphone applications. Each layer has a particular role. Statistics from the IoT perception tier are initially gathered to detect heart attacks. This layer stores data in a cloud server for preventative measures, alerts, and speedy actions. The smartphone program alerts the patient and the family during emergencies. This study proposes CNN-UUGRU, a new deep neural network architecture that combines convolutional and upgraded gated recurrent segments for identifying human actions. This system outperformed other deep neural networks on the Kaggle database, accomplishing 97.8% accuracy, 96.9% precision, and an F-value of 97.85%. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper proposes a demodulation method for GaAs fiber-optic flow velocity sensors based on convolution operations. The method employs a five-layer wavelet forced denoising technique to smooth the acquired spectral data and utilizes a long-pass filter (LPF) waveform as a reference baseline for wavelength drift demodulation via convolution. Through polynomial fitting, this demodulation approach reduces demodulation errors and further enhances accuracy. Within the flow rate measurement range of 1.7 to 42.5 cm/s, the sensor exhibits a maximum flow rate sensitivity of 97.3 pm/(cm/s), with wavelength demodulation accuracy reaching the picometer level. The minimum flow rate demodulation error is as low as 0.02 cm/s. This method is capable of delivering high-precision demodulation across various application scenarios, demonstrating significant potential for applications in the field of fiber flow rate sensing. © 2025 SPIE.

The geotagging technology has emerged as a transformational tool for livestock management, especially in India, where agricultural technology is changing rapidly. The usage of geotagging technology that has been developed recently may bring changes in all agricultural activities, in livestock management, and in animal health monitoring system. The animal’s size, weight, and growth rate are the significant factors in determining a country’s economy in India. The applications of artificial intelligence (AI) merged with geotagging technology could be considered for discovering the disease surveillance, illegal trade in live animals, and control over livestock movement and overgrazing of pasture. The article discusses the use of geotagging in different animals like beef, pig, sheep, and buffalo industries in India through which cattle, pigs, sheep, and buffaloes can be tracked physically. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the potential uses, challenges, and advantages of combining geotagging with geographic information systems (GIS) for livestock management. In addition, this study focuses on the geotagging techniques operated through satellites, for instance, to sensor networks, machine learning and GPS, RFID, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi items. With wide-range technologies, such as animal behavior sensors, health monitors, and environment data gathering ones like these can help the farmers to make accurate decisions for the productivity and manage resources in a better way. Nevertheless, many obstacles must be solved before geotagging could be very common. Online activity recognition based on wearable sensors is commonly used in sports and medicine applications. The question of whether cloud or edge computing approaches are more suitable is not easy to answer and depends on several factors. To address this issue, the influence the resource availability, batch sizes and number of considered users on the throughput and latency of central data stream processing architectures has yet to be answered. This article conducts a performance analysis, identifying relevant factors for a corresponding cloud-based online data stream processing platform for online human activity recognition, using the Apache Spark data processing framework and the Apache Kafka distributed messaging system. The platform focuses on quantitative performance criteria to evaluate its effectiveness in terms of latency (turnaround time) and throughput (number of users). Both metrics, throughput and latency (dependent variables), depend on the batch interval, number of users, and hardware availability (independent variables). In addition to identifying clear advantages of larger batch intervals, we also found significant benefits in applying vertical scaling. The results indicate a monthly cost of 1e per user for compute resources in online activity recognition, a price that could potentially be reduced by combining edge and cloud computing. © 2025 by SCITEPRESS – Science and Technology Publications, Lda.
