In Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs), ensuring the real-time and reliable collection of state information is crucial for maintaining the efficient operation of the network. To ensure freshness of information in delay-sensitive applications such as autonomous driving, this paper combines Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and Intelligent Reflecting Surface (IRS) technologies to deal with the IRS-aided UAV online data collection problem. In the formulated problem, the average Age of Information (AoI) of sensor nodes (SNs) is minimized by jointly optimizing the IRS's phase shifts, the UAV's trajectory, and SN association. The problem is divided into two coupled subproblems: the IRS's phase control and UAV's data collection. We propose the framework of Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) to deal with the two subproblems individually, referred to as PPO-Dual. In particular, given the UAV's position and SN association, the optimal phase shifts of the IRS is estimated using PPO based on the partial channel state information (CSI) obtained by sending pilot signals through some active elements mounted on the IRS. Based on the well trained IRS's phase estimation strategy, the UAV's online data collection scheme is also determined using PPO. Simulation results show that the proposed PPO-Dual algorithm can effectively estimate the IRS's phase shifts and achieve the average AoI performance close to that under perfect CSI conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

Autonomous navigation systems for robots are becoming increasingly essential in various domains, including transportation, surveillance, and logistics. Addressing the challenge of lane keeping is fundamental for safe and efficient navigation, mirroring the capabilities of human drivers. In this work, we present a camera-sensor based deep learning lane keeping system to autonomously move robots while guaranteeing they stay in defined lanes. The need for such a system arises from the rising demand for autonomous robotic solutions in real-world scenarios, where precise lane adherence is critical for safety and effectiveness. By leveraging convolutional neural networks (CNNs), our system accurately detects lane boundaries in real-time, ensuring robustness across diverse environmental conditions. A closed-loop control mechanism translates the CNN output into steering commands, facilitating smooth and precise navigation. Through extensive simulations and real-world experiments, we demonstrate the effectiveness and reliability of our approach, contributing to the advancement of autonomous robotic systems and enhancing their capability for safe and reliable navigation in various applications. © 2024 IEEE.

Furthermore, the study emphasizes the importance of implementing intelligent monitoring systems in school buildings, highlighting that user-friendly interfaces are crucial for effective energy consumption visualization by teachers and students. Innovations introduced in this study include the integration of a digital twin, real-time sensor data transmission via cloud connectivity, and a novel room control device. These technologies enhance user interaction, enable efficient data analysis, and optimize both energy efficiency and user comfort. - An analytical illustration of the SPR based refractive index detection using wave theory based observation for the field of bio sensing application is represented here. The multilayered structure composed of ZnO, Au, MoS2 and graphene nano-layers at a fundamental wavelength of 632 nm. For generating SPR, Au layer is responsible and for the accurate detection of the analyte with the variation of refractive indices the graphene layer has been used. Change of the refractive index of the sensing layer, results the variation in the resonance angles with this structure. Here the biomolecules with the change of refractive index from 1.33 to 1.45, acts as the sensing layer for the configuration and the respective change of resonance angle is from 57.7 ºto 69.8 º. The observed sensitivity for this case is 85º/RIU. To create similarity between the experimental solutions and the analytical results, wave theory based approach has been accustomed here. Thus with enhanced sensitivity with much higher performances, the outer biomolecule layer has been find out for change in concentrations, which expedites the new ways in the area of biosensors and other industrial applications. ©2024 IEEE.

Wireless sensor Network (WSN) is a wireless network formed by a group of sensors with wireless transceiver capabilities, connected in a multi-hop autonomous manner. It has several advantages: low traffic, greater stability, longer wireless communication, and higher coverage areas at a lower cost. The incorporation of new NB-IoT technologies in wireless sensor networks, combining the advantages of both and the establishment of NB-IoT-based wireless sensor networks, has a very promising application in defense and military, medical, intelligent transportation, and commercial applications. This study first investigates both WSN and NB-IoT technologies separately and then combines them to investigate the networking structure of NB-IoT and WSN as well as the related technologies based on the fusion. Then the coverage method of the traditional network node redeployment of wireless sensors is described, and many problems such as poor node connectivity and low coverage are caused by the traditional method due to the lack of local search of subgroup nodes. The initialization of the nodes is carried out. The global information exchange is combined with the subgroup to determine the detectable area of the wireless sensor, and the calculus method is used for the irregular area to obtain the optimal network node so that the nodes of the wireless sensor network can be redeployed. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In the design of wearable sensors, it is crucial to ensure that the sensors are positioned in close proximity to the object for optimal functionality. Therefore, it is imperative to address environmental requirements to guarantee that the sensors have effective operability. This paper deals with the feasibility of an embroidered body worn antenna usage as electromagnetic (EM) sensor for radiated emissions measurement. The performances feasibility of proposed sensor, made by silver yarns embroidered on a cotton sheet as a radiating element and groundplane, is examined by measuring the radiated emission sourced by some radio frequency (RF) devices. The measurement results demonstrate good receptions of radiated emissions at the frequencies of 2.4 GHz and 2.8 GHz from the source, indicating a promising feasibility of the proposed embroidered body worn antenna as an EM sensor. In addition, the results emphasize the significance of addressing environmental factors in the measurement configuration for optimal performance in sensor applications. © 2024 University of Split, FESB.

The data transmission process in the Internet of Things based sensor network is crucial as many applications require data movement from one device to another. As the network size grows, the volume of data transmission increases, reducing the overall energy efficiency of the network and leading to higher communication costs. Additionally, The execution time also increases as a result of this problem. Some researchers work on reducing the communication cost by using the clustering approach but these methods have not fully achieved the desired improvements. This paper explores the implementation of the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) on nonequidistant sensor nodes within a clustered sensor network to address these challenges. The method produces Fourier coefficients with estimation in error limits. Once the clusters become communication cost-efficient, the data routing is performed using the power constraints of the nodes, cluster leaders, and the base station. The nodes in every cluster transmit their measurements to a CL. CLs fuse the signals received by sensor nodes and send them to a base station on orthogonal fading channels. The channel estimation can be done by sending pilot signals to BS from CL. The Bayesian Cramér-Rao bound is obtained from mean square error and linear minimum mean square error estimator at BS. The proposed system demonstrates effective performance across various constraint parameters and proves to be power efficient. It has reduced the transmission cost by 35.2% and execution time by 24.13%. © 2024 IEEE.

Underwater Acoustic sensor Networks (UASNs) play a vital role in many applications such as underwater resource exploration, environment monitoring, and surveillance. These applications demand high reliability. However, achieving reliable communication in the UASNs is one of the challenging issues due to varying link quality. To improve the reliable transmission in the UASNs, Opportunistic Routing (OR) is a promising routing technique. One of the challenges OR protocols face is cooperation between nodes. To overcome this, many techniques have been found. Holding time is one of the mainly used techniques to coordinate between nodes. Various holding time algorithms already exist. The difference in the algorithms is the use of different parameters for calculating hold time, and depth difference is the most used parameter. The major goal of this paper is to create a framework in UnetStack3 for holding time-based protocols that can be used for numerous different protocols to compute hold time and overhear neighboring packets by doing minor modifications in the calculations. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Under Water sensor Networks (UWSN) are promising technologies for oceanography, environmental monitoring, disaster prevention, and resource exploration applications;however, they do suffer from low bandwidth, high delay, and energy limitations. Since recharging or replacing sensor batteries is impractical, achieving longer network lifetimes and reliable data transmission relies on advanced routing protocols suited to underwater environments. In this work, two related routing protocols, Eco Aware Routing Protocol (EARP) and Opportunistic Routing Protocol (ORP), are compared in terms of their energy efficiency. EARP reduces energy consumption and maximizes network lifetime through residual energy-based node selection, where ORP exploits the stochastic nature of underwater communications by randomly choosing several candidate forwarders for packet relaying. The results indicate that EARP performs better compared to ORP with regard to energy consumption and PDR while taking an average time of less delay end-to-end. EARP's energy-aware algorithms adapt to changing conditions and prioritize only nodes with maximum residual energy, thereby optimizing data forwarding and preventing network partitioning. MATLAB- based simulations show that EARP would actually outperform the setup in most of the conditions with respect to node density. Actually, the simulation results obtained elucidate EARP's ability to mitigate key challenges of UWSNs, thus enhancing energy efficiency and packet delivery delay. © 2024 IEEE.
