Wireless sensor networks, or WLANs, are the networks most essential to the development of many Internet of Things (IoT)-based applications. These intelligent gadgets do, however, have limitations in processing, memory, energy, and calculation. Moreover, attaining Quality of Service (QoS) with secure data transfer is one of the main obstacles for WSNs. To improve security and quality of service while using less energy in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), this paper suggests effective energy-aware secure data transmission models. Initially, the network randomly deploys the sensor nodes (SNs), and they register with the base station (BS). Next, the Low-energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) process is applied to choose the cluster head. Once the cluster head has been selected, the clusters are organised according to the cluster head. After that, the Enhanced Coronavirus Mask Protection Algorithm (ECMPA) is used to enable the best routing procedure. The Oppositional Function (OF) and Coronavirus Mask Protection Algorithm (CMPA) are combined in the suggested technique. This hybrid algorithm takes into account multiple measurements and the secure trust parameter to offer the best possible routing process. The data are then sent using the shortest path possible. The model’s performance efficiency above current methods for security, quality of service, and energy efficiency (EE) are demonstrated by the findings. Strain wave gears (SWG) are important parts to drive robots. Yet, they are susceptible to wear and degradation carrying high risk for malfunction of the robot. Hence, the detection of faults in SWGs is of great interest for the robot's safe operation. In this paper, the capability of a simulation chain is shown to generate faulty SWGs' signals of strain gauge sensors mounted on the back of their flex spline with qualitatively similar behavior to real-world measurement signals. Furthermore, the simulated sensor signals are used for a data-driven detection of faults in measurement data showing the practicality of this approach for real-world applications. Efficient irrigation management is critical for maximizing agricultural output while minimizing water waste. This study investigates the effectiveness of machine learning (ML) for data-driven irrigation decision support systems (DSS) to address the scalability issue in artificial intelligence applications. Therefore, the scientific literature highlights how scalability is the main issue that needs to be investigated. In this framework, a living lab focused on an olive cultivation in a greenhouse has been developed to train and test a digital twin application enhanced with machine learning algorithms. Specifically, the algorithm classifies the irrigation status by assessing soil and environmental sensor data. The integration between the physical and the virtual counterparts has been implemented exploiting a Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) communication protocol, where soil and environmental data have been treated as input topics. The model performance has been evaluated by calculating accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and confusion matrices, which highlight the effectiveness of the model in managing irrigation by assessing no-crop specific features with the aim of improving the scalability in greenhouse applications. © 2024 The Authors. A Cognitive Wireless sensor Network (CWSN) employs AI for autonomous optimization in smart cities, industry, military, healthcare, and animal protection, enhancing sensor networks with adaptive intelligence. The portrayed method frames the usage of LEACH in CWSN to enhance energy efficiency and improve network life span. The cluster heads (CHs) are chosen using fuzzy logic, which provides a way to make wise choices even in the face of inaccurate data. While selecting a CH, a number of parameters considered are residual energy, distance from the base station (BS), and angle to the BS. In this proposed method, the base station assumes a vital role, taking on responsibilities such as selecting CHs for various areas, assigning nodes to specific zones, calculating distances between nodes and cluster centers, and determining node angles. The proposed protocol effectively balances energy consumption, improving CWSN performance and maximizing throughput, minimizing delay compared to traditional algorithms for environmental monitoring applications. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

One-dimensional photonic crystals (1DPhCs) have a wide range of potential sensing applications. By using two 1DPhCs-mirrors, a resonator can be created that supports cavity mode resonances. This concept is crucial to proposing highly sensitive optical sensors that employ spectral interrogation. In this paper, several 1DPhC-based resonators were theoretically analyzed for different analytes with varying cavity lengths. It is revealed that cavity mode resonances shift with changes in the refractive index (RI) of the cavity media. Moreover, the sensitivity to RI, along with a figure of merit (FOM), is evaluated. Additionally, it was demonstrated that these quantities depend on both 1DPhC composition and mirror distance. Theoretical analysis is accompanied by experiments for normal incidence in relative humidity (RH) sensing. Furthermore, the sensitivity to RH, together with FOM, are evaluated. © 2025 SPIE.

Smart sensing environments supported by an Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure are enabling a wide array of possibilities for data-intensive remote monitoring applications. Although nowadays it is possible to access and deploy complex setups of sophisticated sensors, the telecommunications infrastructures are struggling to deal with the massive amounts of generated data for transmission, processing, and storage from the diverse range of IoT devices. As data corruption and the loss of data are realistic scenarios in current IoT deployments, it is relevant to find an alternative solution that circumvents the limitations of the physical infrastructure for dealing with potential missing data in remote sensing environments. In this paper, we analyze the feasibility of reproducing missing sensor data due to a communication failure from correlated sources in the same experimental context. We rely on generative adversarial models for the prediction of acceleration data and evaluate the usefulness of the synthetic data with a standard human activity recognition (HAR) classifier. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

The security of Internet of Things (IoT) devices in Matter-enabled networks is crucial, as attacks such as sensor spoofing and data injection can lead to significant disruptions. sensor manipulation attacks where the attackers manipulate the sensor inputs to create erroneous behavior in devices are issues of serious concern for anomaly detections. Faulty sensor data can cause devices to operate in unsafe or inefficient conditions across various applications, compromising system reliability and performance. The Isolation Forest algorithm is employed to isolate faulty data injections as outliers in sensor readings, offering a robust method for anomaly detection. The approach, therefore, focuses on the possibility of enhancing detection with greater reliability in IoT networks. The lightweight and extensible approach also assembles a process of strengthening Matter-based networks against vulnerabilities emanating from wrong control feedback.

In recent years, the development of CMOS image sensors (CISs), especially for mobile applications, has focused on pixel scaling to achieve ultra-high pixel resolutions of over 50 megapixels (Mp) [1]. In addition, various efforts have been actively devoted to strengthen the functionality of image sensors through advanced stacking process technologies, e.g., rolling shutter (RS) CIS with event vision sensors (EVS) for enhancing imaging quality [2]. A global shutter (GS) CIS is an excellent alternative to overcome the limitations of conventional RS CISs. GS CISs for mobile applications can create value as follows: 1) GS CISs can get distortion-free images when capturing fast-moving objects;2) GS CISs don't suffer from flicker-related artifacts because all pixels are exposed at the same time, while RS CISs require a tradeoff between a long exposure time such as 1/60 or 1/120 seconds to prevent the flicker phenomena and a short one to avoid image blurring;and 3) Flash banding caused by sudden camera flashes can be avoided. We believe that the aforementioned advantages of GS CISs have the potential to offer a valuable user experience in mobile devices. Despite these features, voltage-domain GS CISs exhibit a higher random noise (RN) level, generated by sampling capacitors, compared to RS CISs, which limits their applicability. Therefore, a hybrid shutter (HS) CIS capable of operating in both modes, RS and GS, is developed to maximize the benefits of each. © 2025 IEEE.

IoT is a pivotal factor among rapidly advancing technologies. Through the utilisation of this technology, we can execute all tasks without the need for human interaction. By utilising this method, we can ascertain the water's quality, a crucial factor for the optimal growth of fish. Fisheries aquaculture is a crucial source of sustenance, nourishment, income, and livelihood for countless individuals worldwide. Financing and operational expenses associated with the modernization of fishponds. In the present era, given the essentiality of water for the survival of fish, fish farmers often encounter challenges pertaining to the quality of water. Several factors, including the pH level of the water, temperature, oxygen content, hardness, and salinity, can influence the situation. Failure to promptly assess the water quality might lead to significant financial losses for the farmer. The implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) technology can help overcome many challenges with the assistance of a state-of-the-art water tracking system. This proposed system utilises an innovative way to monitor water quality by employing an Arduino-based Controller board and IoT Technology. The IoT system comprises sensors for Temperature, Turbidity, pH, and Conductivity, which assess crucial parameters of water quality such as temperature, turbidity, pH, and conductivity. Additionally, it includes a compact computer board that analyses the data and transmits visual signals to the fish farming management. Regularly screening and comparing water quality measures is typically advised. The collected data will be transmitted to the Node MCU and presented on the farmer's mobile device via the Blynk server. Consequently, the farmer no longer wants to hire workers. © 2025 IEEE.
