The growing application of wireless sensor networks (WSN) has unveiled several opportunities for innovative services and data-driven applications. However, the WSN's inherent vulnerabilities and challenges have raised considerable concerns about data security and integrity despite inventions like software-defined networking. Therefore, this paper proposes a comprehensive trust management framework (TMF) to address Software-defined WSN (SDWSN) security challenges. The proposed TMF capitalizes on the dynamic and flexible nature of the SDWSN to establish trust relationships, both between sensors (S2S) and between controllers and sensors (C2S). Leveraging behavioural analysis, the framework evaluates packet forwarding ability for S2S trust based on reputation, while employing a recommendation-based scheme based on anomalous traffic detection for C2S trust. By analyzing the network traffic, the TMF enhances the trustworthiness assessment and decision-making process. The framework allows the efficient and reliable identification of malicious nodes, unauthorized access, and data tempering within the network. While the proposed TMF is currently in the development stage and awaits implementation and evaluation, its potential impact on improving network security in the SDWSNs is promising. © 2023 IEEE.

In the present scenario, the atmospheric air impacts human health, energy and causes illness because of prolonged exposure to the polluted air. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the byproduct of human lifestyle and industrial revolution. Due to the actuality that high ranges of carbon dioxide in the air can reason critical ailments of the human frame, it is essential to screen this stage inside the room wherein people are present. High concentration levels of CO2 in a poorly ventilated environment can cause harmful reactions in people. In Order to tackle this problem a Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) carbon dioxide sensor is designed and fabricated by surface micromachining technique which has low cost and good efficiency as compared to the sensors presently available in the market Waveshare MQ-135 gas sensor. Eventually, the developed product with the prototype model ensures to allow the operator to display the concentration of CO2 inside the closed environment. © 2022 IEEE.

Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) has been one of the most prominent WSN technologies over the last many decades. Researchers have developed several clustering protocol variants of the DSR protocol based on diverse application circumstances. However, existing clustering protocols often involve sensor nodes expending a great deal of energy propagating messages on a wide scale in order to build clusters and find the best path between clusters. The majority of sensor nodes in WSN s rely on low-power batteries, which severely hampers the network's performance, reliability, and durability. This led to the development of several clustering techniques that aim to improve WSN energy efficiency. With the advent of Fifth Generation transmissions, several Internet of Things applications have begun to use Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) multiple antennas in order to increase capacity in multipath spectrum environments. In this paper, we provide Enhanced Node Energy and Lifetime Improvement Protocol, a novel cluster-assisted routing protocol designed to improve Wireless sensor Networks' energy efficiency. All four sections of the proposed ENELIP must be read in order. Partitioning a large-scale WSN to smaller sub-networks using a size-balanced approach is the first step in using 5G infrastructure. Second, minimization of energy consumption during centralized sub-network information maintenance is the goal of an estimation-based technique. The third step is to reduce the massive amount of energy needed to cluster nodes worldwide by implementing centralized query-driven clustering algorithms in each sub-network to group the query targets. Finally, a system is created for inter-cluster routing that is multi-sub networked, energy-efficient, and load-balanced. After conducting extensive research, it was shown that ENELIP outperforms other WSN protocols in terms of energy efficiency, resulting in an increase in the network lifetime. © 2024 IEEE.

Among our five senses, there is limited research on haptics for assistive devices. Vibration being important in haptics is gaining attention and in this research we made use of Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) film as a tool to measure vibration for use in enhancing touch sensing with tactile feedback. The proposed system does not use any moving parts like motors or pistons but it provides a wide range of tactile feedback sensations to the finger moving across it. This study reveals the use of a haptic display pad with the use of PVDF as both actuator and sensor to let users recognize textures generated through varying vibration frequencies. Results showed that the proposed vibrotactile sensor using PVDF has high accuracy in detecting various frequencies for use in perceivable cutaneous feedback. Further research aims to improve the system for use as a data collection module in virtual texture research. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2023.

Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) play a critical role in real-time applications, such as healthcare monitoring, industrial automation, and smart cities. However, energy efficiency remains a significant challenge due to the limited power resources of sensor nodes. This paper presents an AI-based energy-efficient routing protocol leveraging Machine Learning (ML) techniques to optimize cluster head selection, routing paths, and data transmission. The proposed method integrates K-Means clustering, reinforcement learning-based routing, and AI-driven anomaly detection to enhance network lifetime, minimize energy consumption, and improve security.

For accurate pH measurement and voltage prediction, solution properties need to be converted into measurable electrical signals. Reliable and precise data from pH sensors are achieved by calibrating the sensors with known solutions, supporting effective monitoring and maintenance of water quality to safeguard organism health in aquaculture applications. In this study, fabricated pH strips are used for data measurement, and a dataset spanning various pH levels has been developed. Using machine learning algorithms, voltage is predicted across these pH values, with random forest regression yielding the best prediction accuracy for different pH ranges. This approach enhances sensor precision and reliability, minimizing the need for manual calibration. Additionally, it enables real-time pH monitoring and effectively captures complex parameter relationships, offering a more efficient and sustainable solution for optimal water quality management in aquaculture. The random forest model worked remarkably well, with a low RMSE of 0.01V and a R-2 value of 0.99, indicating great accuracy and minimum error in voltage predictions. The high R-2 score indicates that the model explains nearly all of the variance in the data.

The Internet of Things (IoT) idea now entails a dispersed collection of different sensor networks with several functions that collect data, which is then analysed and used in applications such as smart cities. These networks are capable of transmitting massive volumes of data in a relatively efficient, yet unsecure wireless environment. These applications will only succeed if is developed a dependable a low-cost real-time method for pinpointing accurate location. Power consumption is another consideration for indoor localisation. Recent wireless technologies like ZigBee, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Long Range (LoRa), use less resources, making them ideal for interior positioning. When IoT devices are utilised, these technologies are compared in terms of precision of localisation and power consumption. Tracking the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) values can be used to locate mobile sensor nodes for low-power IoT networks. The RSSI values of sensor nodes in the BLE, ZigBee and LoRa networks for IoT were explore in this study. © 2022 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) connect sensors, i.e., independent nodes or computing devices located in the clothes, on the human body, or under a person’s skin, expanding over the whole body and connected through wireless networks. WBANs find a wide range of applications in the medical sector, like implanting Body sensor Networks (BSNs) for cancer screening, cardiovascular (CVD) monitoring, remote health monitoring systems, and telemedicine. They are also used for non-medical applications like sports and fitness monitoring, physical state monitoring, biometrics, etc. A textile antenna uses wearable, durable, and flexible textiles as either dielectric substrates or conductive materials. Microstrip patch antennas are widely used in WBAN and IoT applications due to their numerous advantages, like high gain, directivity, and ease of construction. In addition, these antennas have other safety considerations, e.g., they well isolate the radiating element from the body to meet the rated Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). In this paper, microstrip patch antennas with different types of textile dielectrics and conducting materials have been designed and simulated in MATLAB r2020a. According to the simulation results, textile antennas are suited for use with GSM, GPS, WLAN, and other technologies operating in the Industry Scientific Medical (ISM) band of frequencies. Furthermore, a comparative analysis of the results shows that the microstrip antenna with the flectron patch and the polyurethane dielectric gives the highest gain of 26.96 and an efficiency of 99%. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Industry 4.0 has driven the need for efficient data gathering and analysis to enhance business performance. However, collecting data from assets in challenging environments with uncertain network conditions remains a major obstacle. In this paper, we propose the Smart Data Logger, a gateway designed to reliably collect data from various sensors and devices and transmit it to the cloud or a server. We address the challenge of converting data from different devices and protocols to enable Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) readiness. Our gateway utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller with a Wi-Fi board and an RS485 to TTL add-on module for communication. It supports bidirectional communication between field devices and cloud applications and provides a Modbus RTU interface on RS485 for onsite device connectivity. The gateway incorporates a GSM A7670 4G LTE module for internet connectivity and includes a built-in SD card for data storage during connectivity loss. Furthermore, an onboard LoRa E32 868MHz module allows multiple nodes to connect and send data to the centralized gateway. The data logger gateway features a two-column data storage pattern with timestamps and data packets, ensuring accurate data recording. A realtime clock (RTC) DS3231 with SPI communication is used for timestamping. Data stored on the SD card is transmitted to the cloud via MQTT when connectivity is restored. Our gateway architecture includes a smart agent for data conversion and supports configuration through embedded web pages. It provides an easy and secure solution for IIoT applications, allowing integration with existing operational technology. Overall, our Smart Data Logger gateway enables robust data collection and analysis in challenging industrial environments. © 2023 IEEE.
