Due to the high performance and safety requirements of self-driving applications, the complexity of modern autonomous driving systems (ADS) has been growing, instigating the need for more sophisticated hardware which could add to the energy footprint of the ADS platform. Addressing this, edge computing is poised to encompass self-driving applications, enabling the compute-intensive autonomy-related tasks to be offloaded for processing at computecapable edge servers. Nonetheless, the intricate hardware architecture of ADS platforms, in addition to the stringent robustness demands, set forth complications for task offloading which are unique to autonomous driving. Hence, we present ROMANUS, a methodology for robust and efficient task offloading for modular ADS platforms with multi-sensor processing pipelines. Our methodology entails two phases: (i) the introduction of efficient offloading points along the execution path of the involved deep learning models, and (ii) the implementation of a runtime solution based on Deep Reinforcement Learning to adapt the operating mode according to variations in the perceived road scene complexity, network connectivity, and server load. Experiments on the object detection use case demonstrated that our approach is 14.99% more energy-efficient than pure local execution while achieving a 77.06% reduction in risky behavior from a robust-agnostic offloading baseline.

Remember also that enhancing real-time apps relies heavily on the efficient and dynamic allocation of computer resources in fog computing and WSS. Because these two technologies are foundational to the development of real-time applications, this is the case. This is due, in part, to the fact that these technologies make optimal use of the resources at their disposal. The increasing significance of these instruments may have contributed to the emergence of this issue. Attempting to do so will bring the reader up to speed on the Dynamic Fog-Edge Resource Allocation (DFERA) technique. The objectives of maximizing fog and edge resources, decreasing latency, conserving energy, and guaranteeing Quality of Service (QoS) were the driving forces for the development of this approach. In order for the greatest possible outcome to occur, these objectives were set. The structure of DFERA is based on three primary approaches. The foundation of DFERA is these formulae. Methods like Quality-Aware Resource Scaling (QARS) for controlling service quality, Edge-Based Data Preprocessing (EDP) for optimizing data, and Dynamic Workload Distribution (DWD) for load balancing are all part of this set of approaches. In this category you will find all of these jobs. These strategies are proven to function using performance metrics derived from actual data. Efficient irrigation management is critical for maximizing agricultural output while minimizing water waste. This study investigates the effectiveness of machine learning (ML) for data-driven irrigation decision support systems (DSS) to address the scalability issue in artificial intelligence applications. Therefore, the scientific literature highlights how scalability is the main issue that needs to be investigated. In this framework, a living lab focused on an olive cultivation in a greenhouse has been developed to train and test a digital twin application enhanced with machine learning algorithms. Specifically, the algorithm classifies the irrigation status by assessing soil and environmental sensor data. The integration between the physical and the virtual counterparts has been implemented exploiting a Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) communication protocol, where soil and environmental data have been treated as input topics. The model performance has been evaluated by calculating accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and confusion matrices, which highlight the effectiveness of the model in managing irrigation by assessing no-crop specific features with the aim of improving the scalability in greenhouse applications. © 2024 The Authors. This paper proposes a new motor field-oriented control scheme for robot joint control that utilizes linear Hall position sensors. The proposed position sensor can obtain rotor position information of the motor with high precision and low cost, overcoming the limitations of traditional motor control systems that use expensive and bulky encoders. The proposed plan includes a Hall sensor module, an electromagnetic detection module, a motor drive module, and a motor. It has been tested and verified using Ansys magnetic field simulation. The proposed system can improve the accuracy and stability of robot joint control while reducing costs compared to traditional motor Field-Oriented Control (FOC) systems. Using linear Hall position sensors can make the system more compact and lightweight. Future work may focus on further optimizing and refining the design for real-world applications.

Ecological occurrences have an important influence on our everyday lives. These comprise fluctuations disturbing life sources such as air, water, radiation, waste management, weather observation, and other environmental factors for minimizing global warming. The term 'smart environment' is defined as equipment that offers several services and resolutions for several ecological applications. This paper proposes ecological observation using sensors and IoT to protect against global warming in wireless sensor networks (WSN). Smart environment sensors combined with the Internet of Things (IoT) can offer a new idea for tracking, recognizing, and observing objects. This can offer possible assistance leading to attaining a green world and a maintainable routine. IoT permits ecological sensors to attach with other systems via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to forward huge quantities of information to the network and can permit us to accept a better environment and discover appropriate solutions for ecological issues nowadays. In this paper, a brief origin of situation regions of study by IoT technology and a deliberate explanation behind applying IoT in the region of ecological revisions will be offered. © 2023 IEEE.

IoT is a pivotal factor among rapidly advancing technologies. Through the utilisation of this technology, we can execute all tasks without the need for human interaction. By utilising this method, we can ascertain the water's quality, a crucial factor for the optimal growth of fish. Fisheries aquaculture is a crucial source of sustenance, nourishment, income, and livelihood for countless individuals worldwide. Financing and operational expenses associated with the modernization of fishponds. In the present era, given the essentiality of water for the survival of fish, fish farmers often encounter challenges pertaining to the quality of water. Several factors, including the pH level of the water, temperature, oxygen content, hardness, and salinity, can influence the situation. Failure to promptly assess the water quality might lead to significant financial losses for the farmer. The implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) technology can help overcome many challenges with the assistance of a state-of-the-art water tracking system. This proposed system utilises an innovative way to monitor water quality by employing an Arduino-based Controller board and IoT Technology. The IoT system comprises sensors for Temperature, Turbidity, pH, and Conductivity, which assess crucial parameters of water quality such as temperature, turbidity, pH, and conductivity. Additionally, it includes a compact computer board that analyses the data and transmits visual signals to the fish farming management. Regularly screening and comparing water quality measures is typically advised. The collected data will be transmitted to the Node MCU and presented on the farmer's mobile device via the Blynk server. Consequently, the farmer no longer wants to hire workers. © 2025 IEEE.

Adoption of wireless and sensor technology Internet of Things (IoT)., small and powerful sensor devices increasing in every domain in the urge of providing smart information and communication technology enabled solutions. To understand the technology sustainability, security objectives must be equally important as the functional objectives. In recent years, the development of CMOS image sensors (CISs), especially for mobile applications, has focused on pixel scaling to achieve ultra-high pixel resolutions of over 50 megapixels (Mp) [1]. In addition, various efforts have been actively devoted to strengthen the functionality of image sensors through advanced stacking process technologies, e.g., rolling shutter (RS) CIS with event vision sensors (EVS) for enhancing imaging quality [2]. A global shutter (GS) CIS is an excellent alternative to overcome the limitations of conventional RS CISs. GS CISs for mobile applications can create value as follows: 1) GS CISs can get distortion-free images when capturing fast-moving objects;2) GS CISs don't suffer from flicker-related artifacts because all pixels are exposed at the same time, while RS CISs require a tradeoff between a long exposure time such as 1/60 or 1/120 seconds to prevent the flicker phenomena and a short one to avoid image blurring;and 3) Flash banding caused by sudden camera flashes can be avoided. We believe that the aforementioned advantages of GS CISs have the potential to offer a valuable user experience in mobile devices. Despite these features, voltage-domain GS CISs exhibit a higher random noise (RN) level, generated by sampling capacitors, compared to RS CISs, which limits their applicability. Therefore, a hybrid shutter (HS) CIS capable of operating in both modes, RS and GS, is developed to maximize the benefits of each. © 2025 IEEE.

Increase in population and trend for luxurious lifestyle has led to huge increase in the number of vehicles. This change has further fascinated the researchers to focus on smart transportation systems. Numerous applications are offered in smart transportation systems like smart parking, detecting event of accidents, smart lights, and many more. Detecting event of accidents and informing vehicles on the move is the most prominent area of research now days. technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning (ML) can help achieve goals of smart transportation system. In this research paper, a smart architecture for accident detection and information dissemination is proposed. Initially, the data is collected using IoT sensor. After data collection, decision making is made to find out whether accident has occurred or not and the associated congestion in network using ML techniques. This information is finally disbursed to the neighboring vehicles using a secure method for data communication. The vehicles after receiving this information will decide whether to continue moving or choose some alternate path for communication. This research work emphasizes results after applying ML method and evaluates the performance of method in terms of accuracy, precision, and recall. © 2024 IEEE.

The need for sensing technology has arisen as a result of the growing environmental concern over microplastic pollution in water systems. In this work, a potential microplastic sensor based on an optical planar doped polymer waveguide was theoretically investigated by using Wave Optics Module-COMSOL Multiphysics® software over a range of 2 μm to 16 μm waveguide core diameters. The microplastic refractive index of the analytes employed in this research ranged from 1.48 RIU to 1.50 RIU reflecting the microplastic refractive index. The results revealed that a 2 μm core diameter of the waveguide sensor achieved the best sensitivity value of 5.12 × 10–5 at fixed cladding depth and wavelength of 0 μm and 617 nm, respectively. The simulation work offers useful information for designing a potential waveguide for real world applications to detect microplastics in water. This study is believed to contribute towards the development of cutting-edge sensing technologies through the optimized optical waveguide sensor design, which shows promise in addressing the serious problem of microplastic pollution in water systems. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
