Flexible tactile sensors such as haptic gloves can be found in many applications for future robotics and human-machine interfaces such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). Generally, multiple functinalities and low power consumption are important performance parameters to be considered [1]. Currently, most haptic feedback devices utilize piezoresistive materials to detect force signals [2, 3], which in nature have drawbacks in spatial resolution and sensitivity. Piezoelectric sensors are also optional, however, traditional piezoelectric sensors cannot detect static force signals, both of which face challenges in forming a pixelated array which can visualize the haptic gestures. In this work, a flexible tactile sensor formed by a 10x10 pixelated piezoelectric sensor array and its sensor interface circuit is proposed to achieve the haptic visualization of dynamic and static force stimuli.

Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) are altering the world through their sensing technology. With several applications in ITS, military operations, surveillance systems, and other fields, WSNs have grown to be a powerful technology. A range of sensor nodes that gather environmental data and monitor the external environment make up wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Reducing the energy consumption of sensor networks to make the operation time longer is the main goal of many researches. The main issue with energy conservation has been the depletion of the batteries powering the sensor nodes. Furthermore, because of their security features, WSNs are utilized in vital areas, such as military battlefields. This study introduces the WSN in several situations, including data collection, applications, routing, security issues, and a quick rundown of a modeling platform that may be used to WSNs. This essay contributes by outlining WSNs’ significance and introducing them in a variety of operational contexts.

Emerging applications such as 4K/8K UHD video, holographic communication and large-scale AI training are extremely dependent on hyper-speed transmission of massive data. Legacy TCP suffers from low throughput due to its conservative congestion control mechanism, while the high overhead of the terminal and the shallow buffer of the switch in hyper-speed networks also become the new performance bottlenecks. Emerging proactive congestion control protocols support hyper-speed transmission by quickly allocating link bandwidth between active flows, but existing protocols require extensive modifications to the system kernel and significantly increase the overhead of the switches due to packet-by-packet processing, making them impractical for deployment. In addition, almost all existing protocols cannot achieve bandwidth-independent high scalability and have the potential to be applied in future networks with more than Tbps bandwidth. In this paper, we propose a novel highly scalable proactive congestion control for hyper-speed networks, called AdaptaCC. AdaptaCC implements transmission control through a few signal packets, enabling fast, efficient and fair link bandwidth allocation, as well as low processing overhead and high scalability. In addition, AdaptaCC rapidly perceives congestion on the bottleneck link and precisely adjusts the transmission rate though the RTT difference. Extensive simulation results show that compared with the baseline protocols, AdaptaCC can quickly converge to utilize link bandwidth while avoiding congestion, and it shortens flow convergence time by up to 87%. AdaptaCC can maintain near-zero in-network queues, and it reduces interference recovery time by nearly 53%. Moreover, AdaptaCC is the only protocol that can support 400Gbps transport in NS2. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, radio frequency identification technology has become increasingly important, not only due to the integration of near-field communication reading capabilities in smart phone devices, but also due to the integration of other functionalities in the controller ICs available on the market. While it was initially only possible to read out a unique identification number, modern controllers are capable to transmit measurement results from sensors via the standard protocol. This opened a myriad of applications, where wireless measurements need to be performed with minimal costs at small size and with a small ecologic footprint. Especially, if combined with modern printed electronics technologies, radio frequency identification sensor tags can be realized very efficiently. The evolution of such wireless sensors would benefit greatly from a universal platform that allows the sensor element, the controller, and the antenna structure to be developed, optimized and verified separately. Therefore, this paper presents the development of such a universal near field communication-based sensor platform, employing a temperature measurement system for demonstration purposes. The modular design guarantees maximum flexibility and a significant reduction in development time for printed sensor systems since the required controller chip does not have to be integrated until the final design. © 2022 University of Split, FESB.

applications from computer vision that use deep learning for target detection have become incredibly popular recently. The requirement for future applications includes monitoring, visual navigation, object identification, and sensor-based preventative planning, together with the growing UAV industry advances, which hold great potential for deep learning. Deep learning techniques for object detection have swiftly evolved into a rendering tool for photos taken by flying drones. This paper's primary goal is to present a comprehensive overview of contemporary deep learning-based object recognition algorithms and to explore their most recent contributions to UAV low-altitude datasets. As opposed to standard or remote-sensor datasets, which comprise a smaller percentage of the literature, low-level UAV datasets are the focus of the research. To conduct real-time bridge crack diagnosis with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), a deep learning system dubbed the You Only Look Once version-4 Focal Pruning Method (YOLOv4-FPM) is suggested based on the YOLOv4 model. For YOLOv4-FPM, focal loss architecture is utilized to streamline the loss feature, improve accuracy and colour transmission, and solve issues with dynamic context. A pruning method is used to speed up detection and facilitate the network. The outcomes show that the model can successfully handle the difficulty given by various backdrops, and the detection velocity is 97.2% effective enough for the real-time detection mission. The YOLOv4-FPM of deep learning technology guarantees 96.3% detection accuracy compared to current drone detection methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Biotechnology has been rapidly growing in recent years with unprecedent achievements in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. 3D bio-printing is one of the latest technologies used to develop complex structures mimicking organs and tissues, as well as functional 3D cell scaffolds. Engineered cell scaffolds supplemented with organic materials can be used as bio-electronic interfaces and biomedical sensing. In this work, a novel 3D bio-printed cell scaffold enhanced with light-responsive organic semiconducting polymer nanoparticles is presented. The light-sensitive cell scaffold can be used for light control and modulation of cellular activities with several applications in neural engineering and regenerative medicine.

Hypersonic vehicles are vehicles travelling faster than Mach 5 (five times the speed of sound). Hypersonic technologies have existed since the end of the 1950s, but recent developments of defence applications have led to their resurgence. Hypersonic weapons can be hypersonic (powered) cruise missiles or hypersonic glide vehicles (HGVs). The nearspace trajectories of HGV, combined with their superior manoeuvrability, enable HGVs to evade existing space and terrestrial sensors used to track ballistic missiles, posing an immediate threat to today's radar networks and making HGVs well-suited for intercontinental (> 5500 km) targets. Securing HGV detection and tracking systems is of great interest to at-risk nations and cybersecurity researchers alike. However, like hypersonic flight technologies, HGV defence technologies are heavily guarded secrets. The shortage of public-domain information did not stop academia from proposing various detection and tracking schemes, but a reasonable question is: "How credible and useful is current public-domain information, including academic publications, on HGV detection and tracking for academic researchers to base their cybersecurity research on?" To answer this question, we scanned and critically reviewed public-domain literature on HGV detection and tracking. We then identified ambiguities and knowledge gaps in the literature. In this paper, we provide a concise version of our multivocal literature review and an analysis of the identified ambiguities and knowledge gaps in our attempt to answer our earlier question.

An agricultural economy relies heavily on farming, which performs a crucial part in the overall process of business activity. It's a major source of nutritional resources and employment possibilities. Thus, farming needs contemporary technologies to boost output. Soil acidity, moisture in the soil, temperature, light, and others might all be monitored with the use of wireless sensor networks (WSN) at a farm. Changes in weather conditions may have a dramatic effect on the size, quality, & yield of a harvest. Both the amount and quality of crops benefit from these variables. The adverse impacts of WSN on agricultural operations, including crop production, include mimicry, modification, interference, and interception. As a result, protecting user confidentiality & strengthening network defenses are the top priorities for agriculture WSN. In this study, we use the combination of elliptic curve cryptography & a function known as a hash to offer a privacy-preserving yet effective key negotiation system to support smart agricultural monitoring systems. The suggested structure ensures secure interactions in intelligent agricultural tracking systems and is resistant to a wide range of security attacks. We show that the BAN logic-based method for mutual authorization as well as exchange of keys works as intended, and we use the Scyther security verification tool's simulation capabilities to prove that the suggested encryption architecture is secure. We formalize the safety of the suggested structure using the ROR model. We also compare the suggested method to others that are used in a comparable setting in terms of their safety, computational, & communications overheads. Therefore, the suggested approach delivers higher levels of safety and effectiveness than the present ones in a comparable setting. The suggested protocol is superior to other methods in terms of its usefulness for real-world applications for smart agricultural monitoring technologies. © 2023 IEEE.

This work demonstrates for the first time a micromechanical event triggered/recorded sensor using internal resonance (IR) induced frequency combs at the output as an indicator to monitor a particular changing sequence for the physical parameter to be sensed. Particularly, based on an in-plane flexural mode beam resonator with a 1:5 IR region purposely aligned with the bifurcating attractor branches, IR can be triggered when the device driven at a fixed driving frequency has gone through a particular sequence of temperature. The event triggered sensor, similar to regular electrical triggers with hysteresis, presents frequency combs at the output (as bit "1") for the temperature rising across 30°C and retains combs even when the temperature reduces below 30°C. Until the temperature decreases below 24°C (as bit "0"), frequency combs then disappear. This technique imparts some sort of intelligence into the device and makes them useful for event recording/monitoring sensor applications. © 2023 IEEJ.

Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) have increasingly been adopted as a viable solution in the healthcare industry for many years. One novel application of WSNs in healthcare is real-time health data collection and tele-healthcare service delivery via the Internet. With the increasing number of applications of Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) in healthcare has emerged during the past decades, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic which has affected millions of people, particularly the elderly, the advantages and benefits of applying WSNs to monitor patients and improve the quality of healthcare have become clearer. Today's sensing and communications technologies have reached a point where these WSNs can be readily implemented and deployed, albeit with some limitations and security concerns. Collecting patients' health data or vital signs from WSNs deployed in hospitals or elderly nursing homes has been one of the most challenging tasks in the healthcare industry. In this paper, our main focus is on the routing protocol for human psychological data generated by healthcare application over the 6LoWPAN-based Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) as well as the development of affordable healthcare applications by leveraging novel WSN technology. Firstly, we present our latest achievements in implementing healthcare systems using the framework proposed in [?]. Additionally, We employ this framework to simulate 6LoWPAN-based Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) in two different healthcare settings using the network simulator NS-3. Finally, we provide preliminary results from the application of the developed application in on-site hospitals and nursing homes. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
