With the development of China railway high-speed, the total operation mile of the network is making China the world's largest. Routing scheme is the basis for the operation of EMUs, of great significance in improving the efficiency of EMUs and to reduce maintenance cost. On the premise of train operating chart of the high-speed railway, this paper established an integer programming model for scheduling routes of EMUs, with the requirement of EMUs type, quantity for EMUs, servicing time, and time-space subsequent conditions as the operational constraints, with both mileage and time limit regulated by the inspection standard of EMU level-1 as the maintenance constraints, and with the least quantity of routes of EMUs as the objective function. This paper took the problem of 62 pairs of trains for Wu-Guang high-speed railway as an example and put forward a modified MAX-MIN Ant System to solve the model above. The result showed that the model and the solving algorithm could meet the demand of the route scheduling optimization problem. © 2021 IEEE.

China's high-speed railway construction is making remarkable achievements. The increasing EMUs are approaching the overhaul cycle, which has brought great pressure to the existing 7 overhaul bases. With the increasing expansion of high-speed rail network, it is of significance to reasonably arrange the maintenance plan of EMU overhaul base under the joint scheduling mode between multiple EMUs. Aiming at improving the maintenance throughput and the utilization rate of key equipment, the current overhaul bases are adopting the parallel maintenance mode of multiple EMUs. To optimize the repair process of multiple parallel mode, this paper constructed an optimization model with the goal of minimizing the invalid maintenance fragment time of key equipment, under the dual constraints of the BOM of EMU parts to be repaired and the topology of maintenance process. In view of the nonlinearity of the model, the topology diagram of cooperative advanced repair of multiple EMUs was constructed, and then the max-min ant colony algorithm was designed to optimize the model, so as to obtain the optimal solution of the model. The model and algorithms were validated by an actual problem of the overhaul (Level 3) process of multiple EMUs. © 2021 IEEE.

The constantly increasing use of electronic components and systems with ever-higher intelligence and performance entails the requirement to analyze the data they constantly generate in almost real-time, to put them into a suitable context with each other and with surrounding data to ultimately make intelligent decisions to improve safety, quality, and reliability of products. The following article is intended to show how such tasks can be completed using search-based applications. Research approaches from industrial applications are shown as case studies in which machine, sensor, and field data are processed using this technology.

While the Internet of Things (IoT), Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs), and the techniques for extracting digital data have seen continuous advancements, so does the cyber-threat landscape. Virtual sensors which normally use abstraction layers that operate over a physical infrastructure to achieve their objectives, have seen rapid adoption, for example, it has aided in achieving manufacturing 4.0. This abstract layer has in the recent past seen tremendous proliferation within the sensor-based platform. Coupled with data pre-processing and key compliance with the guidelines for information security, incident investigation principles, and processes. This paper discusses a step towards a Learning-enabled (LE) Virtual sensor Forensic (VSF) architecture that is compliant with edge intelligence technology, which is based on an initially proposed generic VSF architecture. Furthermore, apart from the learning capabilities, the LE-VSF architecture considers proactive and reactive investigation techniques by assuming an Internet of Vehicle (IoV) attack scenario, enhancing the reliability of a forensically sound data source. This proposition is essential in any sensor-based abstraction where the forensic analysis would otherwise be cumbersome and susceptible to noise.

Regarding IoT applications, the efficiency has immensely upgraded, though the product features remain the same, the progress in extremely low power sensing and computing has boosted the efficiency and thereby the power consumption of IoT devices have drastically dropped. With this change happening for the first time in history, it is actually feasible to tap into this appreciable energy available in our surroundings to power such electronic devices. The tapped energy from environment not only enables self-reliant electronics but also gives a chance for addition of newer features in IoT applications. This paper is devoted to the development of a multilayer PVDF based piezoelectric vibration energy harvesting device for powering wireless sensor networks and low power electronic devices. The purpose of the device is to be the power supply to endless applications of information technology. The designed energy harvester successfully generates an average power of 9.2 mu W/g/mm(3) with a resonant frequency of 43 Hz, generating at least 15 V rms voltage and 495 mu W power for acceleration 1 g. The commercial piezo sensors generate power of only 10 nW/g/mm(3). This work reveals the challenges and limitations involved in constructing a realistic piezoelectric energy harvesting system and howto overcome them with the proposed harvester design. Themethod of fabrication and design of the proposed energy harvester are also discussed. Comparison of the harvester results with other author works is presented. Future recommendations, suitable application areas and market size information is also provided.

Internet of Things (IoT) networking has attracted research with many emerging applications requiring remote control and automation. Effective deployment of IoT sensors is a major concern since it primarily determines the performance of the IoT network. Since multiple mobile sensors are generally involved, it is possible that the sensors are randomly distributed in a remote region at the initial phase then later relocated to some pre-computed optimal location with their full autonomy enabled. In this paper, we propose a computation for the optimal location of water sprinkler sensors of an IoT smart farm network in terms of the relative physical distance between them. The resulting sensors locations ensure minimal overlap coverage area and no uncovered area exists in the candidate farming region. With the proposed strategic deployment of smart water sprinklers sensors, farmers can be assured of the right water distribution for any given area of their farm.

Advancements in compact integrated circuit fabrication have significantly progressed, allowing for the integration of wireless transceivers, signal processing units, and sensors into a unified and compact unit. This technological breakthrough has paved the way for seamless interactions with the physical world, finding applications across various domains, including security, production management, and environmental monitoring. In this study, we delve into the intricate design aspects of a distributed sensor network, where each node operates within defined energy and communication constraints. The integration of prevailing wireless technologies, computational capabilities, and organic polymers into an innovative generation of intelligent devices represents a critical dimension of our exploration. This article meticulously examines the implementation of a wireless sensor network employing the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) protocol. The incorporation of organic polymers as a sensing layer amplifies energy efficiency and enables selective sensitivity in diverse monitoring applications. A notable advantage is the rapid and cost-effective production of electronics using organic polymers, underlining their substantial potential. Furthermore, we emphasize flexible organic electronics, underpinned by the semiconducting and flexible properties inherent in organic materials, constituting a fundamental element of our technological paradigm. Key prerequisites for achieving optimal operational device performance are thoroughly discussed, encompassing achievements and technical challenges in the design and fabrication of next-generation devices, with a keen focus on product optimization. © 2023 The Authors.

In recent years, the issue of ventilation has gradually gained attention from the public. However, the currently available low-end Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) facilities lack affordable sensor module options, particularly when it comes to CO2 sensors that can be integrated into ventilation facilities. The high cost of CO2 sensors often discourages their inclusion in general households' ventilation facilities or the implementation of ventilation control features. In light of this, this study proposes a sensor module that not only comes at a lower cost but can also be seamlessly integrated with ventilation facilities. This advancement aims to enable autonomous control of ventilation facilities airflow, thereby enhancing energy efficiency and reducing facility costs in the future.

Rapid technological advancement in the field of sensor Communications has paved the path in the evolution of Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN). This technology provides novel applications in a variety of domains like the medical industry, entertainment, and ambient intelligence. WBANs are expected to play significant roles in psychology, medicine, and other fields. WBAN is optimized for use in healthcare applications by utilizing a multitude of bio-sensors to monitor patients, detect life-threatening illnesses and report to the care-takers. Bio sensors data routed to the servers can be used for further analysis. Quality of service (QoS), Energy efficiency, and security challenges like data loss, authentication, access control, and privacy concerns, are just a few of the problems that WBAN encounters. Agriculture is affected by many factors such as environmental changes, natural disasters, soil erosion, water irrigation, and pesticide control. All these factors will affect the yield of the crop. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a unique technology that will bind the physical components to modernize various domains. Agriculture can be carried out from anywhere, at any time, through IoT. The IoT - based framework is designed to automate the control and monitoring processes in agriculture without requiring human intervention. IoT sensors are used in specialized agricultural applications such as soil moisture measurement, nutrient levels, crop forecasting, pesticide management, and water irrigation. The difficulty faced by the researchers is identifying suitable sensors based on the need of the application. This difficulty was overcome by discussing the importance of IoT in agriculture and even the author's thoughts on various sensor devices used in smart agriculture. This survey stands to aid the prospective investigators in identifying appropriate IoT sensors, the importance of IoT in agriculture, and the technologies based on application requirements. © 2022 IEEE.
