Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) are increasingly pivotal in healthcare monitoring, offering real-time patient health tracking through advanced communication technologies. Despite their potential, WBANs face challenges like limited communication range, reliability in data transmission, and energy efficiency, primarily due to the constraints of traditional technologies and sensor devices’ limited battery life. This paper suggests that low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs) could significantly improve WBANs’ efficiency in healthcare monitoring by offering better power consumption, transmission rates, reliability, coverage, and latency. Additionally, it explores the integration of millimeter wave (mmWave) technology, which faces limitations in range and obstacle penetration critical to WBAN applications despite its high data rates. A combination of mmWave and LPWAN could provide a solution that balances high data rate communication with long-range, energy-efficient transmission and is suitable for various health monitoring scenarios. Furthermore, introducing an Energy Optimization Algorithm could enhance data packet transmission efficiency by up to $25 \%$ and extend the lifespan of Wireless sensor Networks. Integrating mmWave and LPWAN technologies in WBANs presents a promising avenue for healthcare applications. However, significant technical challenges must be overcome through innovative engineering and network design to improve healthcare monitoring effectiveness.

Internet of Things (IoT) has become an information bridge between societies. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are one of the emergent technologies that work as the main force in IoT. applications based on WSN include environment monitoring, smart healthcare, user legitimacy authentication, and data security. Recently, many multifactor user authentication schemes for WSNs have been proposed using smart cards, passwords, as well as biometric features. Unfortunately, these schemes are shown to be susceptible towards several attacks and these includes password guessing attack, impersonation attack, and Man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack due to non-uniform security evaluation criteria. In this paper, we propose a lightweight multifactor authentication scheme using only hash function of the timestamp (TS) and One Time Password (OTP). Furthermore, public key and private key is incorporated to secure the communication channel. The security analysis shows that the proposed scheme satisfies all the security requirement and insusceptible towards some well-known attack ( password guessing attack, impersonation attack and MITM).

In recent years, fog computing has emerged as a paradigm that brings computing, storage and networking resources closer to end users and devices at the edge of the network. One of the use cases for fog computing is IoT, where a large amount of data is generated by sensors that need to be pre-processed in place before the results are sent to the cloud for further processing and long-term storage. However, actual fog deployments are at their infancy. In this paper, we present the smart-marina project at La Marina de Valencia in which the LivingFog fog computing platform integrating open-source software and LoRaWAN technologies were used to process data collected from several sensors. We show the benefits of the platform in terms of latency reduction and bandwidth saving. Moreover, the platform has been used by particpants of the "Hack the fog" hackathon to deploy applications to test different innovative ideas on using the sensor data.

The advent of the Internet of Things (IoT) has significantly increased the number of applications using sensor technology, which has redefined sensor networking. Short-range wireless technologies offer high data rates and frequently use unlicensed spectrums. On the other hand, cellular technologies provide a more extensive range and a higher data rate, and they operate in the licensed spectrum. To bridge the gap between these two technologies and provide a cost-effective, long-range solution capable of connecting numerous scattered devices, Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) were developed. LPWANs utilize unlicensed spectrums and can transmit data over long distances, providing connectivity for devices located in remote or challenging environments. Long Range (LoRa) continues to draw attention due to its flexible specification and the accessibility of hardware with guarantees to provide kilometers of coverage in adverse situations. It is a long-range, energy efficient low power technology that is used to connect wireless sensor devices in an Internet of Things (IoT) network and is widely used in a variety of wireless communication applications. This paper aims to describe the implementation and coverage testing of a multichannel Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) gateway for this technology. This implementation aims to increase LoRa coverage in New Chandigarh, India, and to allow open access for testing a range of IoT devices. The spreading factor 7 facilitates a maximum transmission distance of 3.1 km.

technologies dedicated radio infrastructure deployments are no longer adequate to ensure large-scale, low-cost, and reliable communications with the growing adoption of scattered wireless technologies for current services. The goal of this article is to allow the deployment of a radio network infrastructure for numerous client applications, hence building the Internet of Things (IoT). IEEE established IEEE 802.15.4e time slotted channel hopping (TSCH), an extremely efficient, reliable, and predictable time-frequency enabled medium access control (MAC) protocol for the industrial sector, on top of the low-power IEEE 802.15.4 radio. A MAC communication schedule may be constructed from an IEEE 802.15.4e TSCH communication schedule. The IEEE 802.15.4e TSCH definition, on the other hand, makes no mention of how such scheduling may be generated, modified, or maintained. It also has no jurisdiction over the unit in charge of these obligations. This means that the standard is missing the required scheduling mechanism. To meet this demand, several communication scheduling approaches have been presented in the literature. We first establish a novel decentralized communication scheduling approach called mobile scheduling updated TSCH (MSU-TSCH), which implies that network traffic can move in any direction rather than from leave nodes to the root, in this study. The MSU-TSCH algorithm tries to plan time slots by selecting the node that is nearest to the user. While selecting a nearby node, it seeks to assign a roughly equal quantity of dedicated time slots to each member node (or member neighbor). Other scheduling algorithms may not be able to construct better schedules with neighbor nodes as a consequence.

Over the past few years, Wireless sensor Network (WSN) has seen many improvements, and there are various applications of WSNs in various domains. Most communication technologies have a trade-off between distance and power consumption, i.e., to reach a longer distance, high power is consumed. LoRa overcomes this problem by consuming less power and transmitting small data packets for a long distance. The objective of this research work is to use LoRa technology in Precision Agriculture applications to help the stakeholders in better decision-making. A small experimental testbed is set up for precision agriculture applications. This testbed had sensors to monitor pH, soil moisture, soil temperature, and NPK parameters. An Automatic Weather Station (AWS) is set up to monitor ambient weather parameters-temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure, solar radiation, and leaf wetness. These sensor parameters were collected at the LoRa Gateway and forwarded to a network server hosting the The Things Network (TTN) LoRa stack. Transmission statistics are collected and analyzed for this application for remote monitoring of agricultural farms for quick and efficient decision-making.

The most common way to identify a person is by using their fingerprint, which involves comparing two fingerprints: one that has been saved as having been previously captured and one that is now being scanned by a sensor. The human fingerprint is one of a kind; it can withstand the system for an individual's entire lifetime; and it is recognized in the field of forensic inquiry. In older systems, the finger is allowed to make as many contacts with the sensor as necessary throughout the scanning process, which might cause the sensor's quality to decline. The quality of fingerprint images may be improved using a variety of approaches, each of which has been presented by a different researcher. This study examines a variety of fingerprint identification methods, including Minutia-based mapping and the CNN algorithm, both of which make use of deep learning.
