Smart Agriculture plays an important role in providing foods and manufacturing products. It covers various food-related applications, from weed and pest identification to crop recommendation. Selecting an appropriate crop to grow for a farm directly affects the quality and quantity of products. This paper proposes a user-friendly crop recommendation system called UACR. The users only need to insert their farm location and the system can automatically obtain other necessary information (e.g., rain level, soil type) based on the requested location and recommends the best crop(s) for growing in the location. To support and implement the proposed system, an architecture based on Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) technology, as one of the main enablers for smart agriculture, is also proposed.

Rice cultivation is pivotal in India, facing various color-related issues during different growth stages. Identifying these conditions manually can be challenging, especially for less experienced farmers. Recent advancements in Deep Learning (DL) demonstrate the effectiveness of automated image recognition systems. These systems utilize Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Transfer Learning (TL), and Support Vector Machine (SVM) models for similar agricultural problems. Due to the unavailability of readily accessible rice disease image datasets, a custom dataset was created. Consequently, a deep learning model was devised using transfer learning. The proposed CNN architecture, based on MobileNet, was trained and tested using datasets from paddy fields and the internet.

The internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is revolutionising the healthcare landscape by seamlessly integrating medical devices, sensors, and healthcare information systems. This interconnected network of devices is designed to improve patient outcomes, enhance healthcare delivery, and streamline medical processes. However, as IoMT continues to evolve, it introduces new challenges related to data security, privacy, and interoperability. Blockchain technology has emerged as a promising solution to address these challenges, offering a decentralised and secure framework for managing health-related data in IoMT applications. This research aims to implement a blockchain-enabled network within a Federated Learning-based internet of Medical Things (IoMT) environment. The proposed framework features a centralized server hosting a global machine learning model. IoMT devices operate with local models that run concurrently with the global model, incorporating device-specific data. Simulations and comparisons have been conducted on the predominant consensus models, namely Proof of Stake and Proof of Work. These ongoing initiatives aspire to play a role in enhancing the security and privacy aspects of the latest developments in the internet of Medical Things.

Nowadays, remarkable growth in the use of social networks, as well as the manner of using them has fundamentally changed the way of using the internet. This increases the quantity and quality of shared data in these social networks. In addition, the security and confidentiality of data become an important concern to the significance of detecting malicious profiles in OSNs (Online Social Networks), the social network security has offered multiple techniques for detecting malicious profiles and content spam. In this paper, the authors test a new system to detect malicious profiles. First, they propose the identification of false profiles by the security approach based on social honeypots. Second, they suggest detecting those that are similar to the profiles detected by the approach of honeypot using a similarity function based on collaborative filtering. This work uses a hybrid system based on honeypots and a recommender system algorithm for detecting malicious users and those are similar. The approach has greatly improved the quality of abstraction in terms of performance and design. The algorithm is also fast and simple to implement. Experimental results show the stability and accuracy (over 99,99%) of our approach. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In visual research, researchers strive to understand how optical sensors capture image information and how the brain interprets and processes this information. However, natural atmospheric haze introduces serious visual challenges in images. Haze causes loss of image details, color distortion, and blurring of depth information, posing a significant challenge for many intelligent device applications. This paper combines the strengths of the Haze-line and DCP algorithms, complementing their weaknesses, to develop a method that accurately restores detailed object information in hazy images without introducing distortion or artifacts. By constraining atmospheric light, the method aims to approximate the true atmospheric light value for each pixel in the image. It involves solving the transmission twice and imposing constraints to maximize the restoration of transmission values, which often deviate significantly from real transmission rates due to differences in depth of field. Peak signal-to-noise ratio and structural similarity are used to evaluate the dehazing performance. Experimental results demonstrate that compared to other algorithms, this approach achieves effective dehazing with restored detail while minimizing distortion in the resulting hazefree images.

An effective home security system improves the standard of living by making the home a safer place to live in general. In recent years, smart door locks have become increasingly popular as an integral component of home security systems. Locking and unlocking a door with a smart door lock system requires authentication. Unfortunately, several break-in attempts have been made when the invader tried to bypass the locks. In this work, internet of Things (IoT) and image processing can be used to strengthen the safety of Smart Door Lock systems. The camera is triggered after the motion detector has determined that a human has entered the area. The camera picks up a clear picture of the visitor standing by the entrance. Using image processing methods, the image is delivered to the microcontroller and compared with the registered users. A door will open automatically if the person's face is in the database. Otherwise, a notification and a photo of the person will be sent to the user's mobile app via IoT. In the designed mobile app, the user may view the individual's face and issue commands to the system, such as opening and closing doors. Using the developed methodology, the safety of the house will be increased, and unauthorized visitors will be prevented. © 2022 IEEE

This research uses image processing technology with the deep learning methods, which can simulate the human vision to develop an artificial model for examining and classifying the types of Thai fruit. The experiment is conducted to classify five types of Thai fruits, namely CustardApple, Rambutan, RoseApple, Mangosteen and Durian,. These fruit samples are collected as 300 images of each type in 2D digital photographs from various views. The experimental results shown that the use of deep learning by the convolutional neural network (CNN) based on the model of EfficientNet-B0 architecture provides the excellent classification accuracy at 99%.

This paper explains the ongoing development of an FPGA-based image recognition system for an autonomous driving robot car for the FPT'21 Design Competition. We are developing an FPGA-based image recognition on "ad-refkit" equipped with a Zybo-Z7 board to realize two main functionalities: 1) to provide recognition results in the actual environment of the contest through the internet and 2) to be updated remotely based on the results. With these functionalities, we can realize high-performance and low-power systems using an FPGA.

3D printing becomes a standard for rapid proto-typing and fabrication of customized parts. When it comes to appearance of the printed parts, it is highly affected by the printing filament type and its properties. This paper analyses reflective translucency of seventeen 3D prints and their original filaments. We performed a psychophysical study to obtain perceived translucency data, i.e. discriminability of background based on its reflection when passing through translucent material. These data are then compared with translucency measurements using a commercial device. Finally, we captured BRDF data of the filaments and used them to determine appropriate translucency measurement conditions.

In this work, we consider the target of solving the nonlinear and nonconvex optimization problems arising in the training of deep neural networks. To this aim we propose a nonmonotone trust-region (NTR) approach in a stochastic setting under inexact function and gradient approximations. We use the limited memory SR1 (L-SR1) updates as Hessian approximations when the curvature information is obtained by several different strategies. We provide results showing the performance of the proposed optimizer in the training of residual networks for image classification. Our results show that the proposed algorithm provides comparable or better testing accuracy than standard stochastic trust-region depending on the adopted curvature computing strategy and outperforms the well-known Adam optimizer.
