Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) is deemed as a potential technique for the future of the internet of Things (IoT) due to its capability of tacking the complex propagation environment using a large number of low-cost passive elements. To benefit from RIS technology, the problem of RIS-assisted channel state information (CSI) acquisition needs to be carefully considered. However, existing channel estimation methods usually incorporated line-of-sigh (LOS) channel into reflected channel together, which is not practical for deploying IoT scenarios. In this paper, we study a RIS-aided channel estimation that jointly exploits the properties of the LOS and reflected channels to provide more accurate CSI. The cascaded RIS channel is modeled based upon the weighted l 1 norm minimization, while a LOS channel is exploited using f 1 norm minimization to sequentially estimate the channel parameters. Moreover, by exploiting gradient descent and the alternating minimization method, a flexible and fast algorithm is developed to provide the feasible solution. Simulation results demonstrate that a RIS-aided MIMO system significantly reduces the active antennas/RF chains compared to other benchmark schemes. © 2022 IEEE.

The paper examines fault estimation and resilient fault-tolerant control (FERTC) strategies for uncertain turbofan switched systems (UTSSs) subject to parameter uncertainties, various fault conditions, and external disturbances. By defining an intermediate variable, a switching estimator is established, thereby reducing the usual limitations on observer matching conditions. Meanwhile, the resilient fault-tolerant controller is constructed by combining the fault-tolerant control method with the resilient control technique. Then, based on hybrid switching mechanism and $H_{\infty}$ control theory, FERTC strategy are established. By employing Lyapunov stability theory, the asymptotic stability of the UTSSs is obtained under the designed controller.

In the modern world, it is vital to ensure that appropriate encryption and decryption are used while sending data across the internet to avoid unwanted access. based on the visual cryptography system, a novel cryptographic scheme is suggested to secure color images. As inputs are a color image that needs to be protected and a binary image that serves as the encryption and decryption key. Three monochromatic images based on the $\mathrm{YC}_{\mathrm{b}} \mathrm{C}_{\mathrm{r}}$ color space are created from a secret color image that needs to be shared. Following the conversion of these monochromatic images into binary images, the binary images are then encrypted using binary key images, also known as share-l, to produce binary cipher images. Three half-tones of the secret color image and the binary key image are encrypted independently using the Exclusive OR technique. Share-2 is obtained by combining these binary pictures. After the shares have been encrypted, the binary images that have been retrieved are converted to inverted halftones and merged to create a hidden color image. This technique works better over a diffused channel for transmitting natural images. The OFDM technology is the foundation of this multi modal transmission. In wireless communications, OFDM as a multi-carrier transmission mechanism plays vital role. Due to its many benefits, including its fast data rate transmission, excellent reception quality, and capacity to counteract Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI), particularly in fading channels, the adoption of OFDM has grown significantly.A novel approach is put forward for progressive image transmission via Low Density Parity Check Coding (LDPC) on coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. In this technique, the Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of the OFDM signal is reduced and the performance of the OFDM systems is improved through the utilization of trigonometric transformations. image-text retrieval has become more popular day-by-day due to its huge application on Facebook, YouTube, Google, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. It is a cross-modal retrieval system considered a multi-class problem, which presents a challenging task in computer vision. Finding an appropriate combination of feature extraction and classification models is necessary to solve this multi-class problem effectively. This paper proposes a shallow feature-based cross-modal information retrieval system. Specifically, the scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) is utilized as a shallow feature descriptor and the kernel extreme learning machine (KELM) is adopted as the classification model. Semantic matching (SM), correlation matching (CM), and semantic correlation matching (SCM) are applied in the matching strategy. The publicly available Wiki database is used for model learning. The mean average precision (mAP) is calculated as a statistical measure for each matching strategy, utilizing various distance metrics. The experimental results demonstrate that KELM achieves the highest mAP for SM, using a centered correlation measure, outperforming other matching strategies and statistical measures. Additionally, the results reveal that the SIFT feature-based KELM combination performs better than other competitive shallow feature-based approaches.

With the growth of cities and population, urban corporation faces potential challenges. One such challenge is regulating parking spaces. This become a tedious job during weekends and festival season. Improper regulation in parking spaces lead to traffic congestion and affects the fuel economy. Various parking solutions using sensor networks and image processing techniques have been proposed in literatures. For developing smart city environment, single parking space management is not sufficient and image processing based parking system can be applied only to large spaces. This paper proposes distributed parking management system. Three parking slots have been created. The IR sensors capture the status of the space and communicate to the cloud. The user can also check the real time parking space availability in mobile application. Prototype has been developed and checked under various condition. The proposed solution provides parking space information on real time and improves fuel efficiency. © 2022 IEEE.

Within the realm of security systems, the concept of information hiding is a vast and encompassing field that spans across a wide spectrum of diverse research domains. The technological advancement in data transmission over the public network made the need for data security a field to focus on for information protection. Several research works have been proposed to use various data-hiding paradigms to improve the confidentiality of the secret data transmitted over the public network. However, the previously proposed solution did not achieve promising performance and efficiency in protecting the personal information of companies and individuals. To address this challenge, this research proposes a steganographic algorithm to enhance the security of the bitstreams of the secret data using pairs-based difference expansion in the neighboring pixels of a digital image. The experimental results of our method demonstrated a superior performance over the existing method. It is important to note that our method improved the payload capacity from 0.0585 bpp to 0.1370 bpp in the existing and proposed methods, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper considers multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to enable secure and reliable communications between energy-constrained internet of Things devices (IoDs). First, these IoDs harvest energy using the radio frequency (RF) signals transmitted from a power beacon. Then, the harvested energy is used to exchange information via multiple UAV relays in the presence of an eavesdropper. Among multiple UAVs, the best UAV relay is selected based on the achievable signal-to-noise ratio of the first hop. The selected UAV applies a decode-and-forward (DF) operation to forward the information. However, an eavesdropper present in the vicinity of IoDs can wiretap the information transmission through the UAV-to-ground channel. Thus, the UAV employs artificial noise (AN) injection technique to prevent the eavesdropper from intruding on the information transmission. For modeling the composite fading channel, we use the log-normal distribution to characterize the shadowing components. Further, we adopt the Gauss-Hermite quadrature method to derive the closed-form secrecy outage probability (SOP) expression. Moreover, we offer a reliability and security trade-off analysis by providing closed-form expressions for the outage probability (OP) and intercept probability (IP) as reliability and security performance measures, respectively. The numerical and simulation results corroborate the analytical findings, highlight the impact of various channel/system parameters on the secrecy and reliability performance, and provide valuable insights into the system's behavior. © 2023 IEEE.

When monitoring human vital signs, breathing is one of the most critical physiological metrics. In areas with limited resources and a shortage of trained medical professionals, automated analysis of abnormal breathing patterns may prove advantageous to healthcare systems. In this paper, we implemented the architecture of five transfer learning models to classify individuals' breathing patterns using our proposed method which uses hybrid scalogram image-based features. We implemented the Sleep Breathing Detection Algorithm (SBDA) for extracting the actual breathing signals from ultra-wideband (UWB) radar for the pre-processing method. Later, the signals were converted to hybrid scalogram image-based representations before being classified using the VGG16, DenseNet, Xception, ResNet, and MobileNet models. The performance of the proposed method was validated using two other image representations: a standard image and a spectrogram image. The overall result showed that the proposed method obtained the highest classification accuracy on the test set for all pre-trained models. © 2022 IEEE.

Gait recognition technology, as a key branch in the field of identity recognition, has significant value but also faces challenges such as discomfort from wearable devices, the need for synchronized processing of gait feature time series data, and susceptibility to environmental influences in image-based methods. A fusion method combining tactile and visual information is proposed to improve recognition effects when sensors or visual information are limited. Not only is a fusion gait dataset constructed, but identity recognition experiments are also conducted on flexible strain sensor data through Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) CNN-LSTM networks. The effectiveness of the visual-tactile fusion method in enhancing recognition accuracy is verified through decision-level fusion strategies.

At present, globe of modern picture amid the data exchange is more critical. So nowadays, security issues while data exchange have become the major concern. Consequently, chaotic frameworks are exceedingly utilized in picture encryption applications due to its arbitrariness properties. Arnold’s cat map is best used for shuffling of image. Picture encryption strategy utilizing Arnold cat map is proposed, but after a few cycles, the transformed picture will return to the initial picture so keeping the security concerns in mind in addition with Arnold cat map, Cyclic Chaos and PRNG is also proposed to provide dual layer of security. This makes the intruder difficult to decode the content. Further, security of image encryption techniques is analyzed by using histogram analysis, correlation analysis, peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and mean square error (MSE). The security analysis demonstrates that the proposed encryption system is secure as the cross-correlation esteem is nearly equal to 1, and the PSNR esteem is on an average 62 which is very high and MSE esteem very low, thus makes very difficult for the intruder to break the proposed image encryption algorithm. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
