Compressive sensing is a potential technology for lossy image compression. With a given quality, we may represent an image with a few significant coefficients in the sparse domain. According to the sparse modeling theories, we may randomly sense a few number of measurements in a transform domain and later reconstruct the sparse representation. Typically the sensing domain is a low-complexity transform domain and the computation complexity lies on the reconstruction phase. In this paper, the linear and nonlinear compressive sensing approaches are briefly introduced. A few experiments are performed based on the nonlinear approach. Both 2D-DFT and 2D-DCT sensing domains are included to show their effects to the reconstruction quality. The simulation shows that the two domains produce comparable results if the proper comparison condition is considered. Some directions of revising the reconstruction process is also discussed in this paper.

A signal with high quality rectangular frequency spectrum is generated for MRI medical imaging applications. The center frequency of the signal is 4MHz and the bandwidth is 8KHz. This signal is generated by feeding Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) with repetitive truncated and modulated sinc function. Resolution and update rate of the required DAC is chosen theoretically and by simulations in MATLAB. Further simulations are carried out to optimize the truncating, which resulted in 800Hz transition bandwidth, -32.27dB pass-band ripple, -37.92dB stop-band ripple and 6.977MHz imagesignal gap by means of feeding a 15MSPS 14-bit DAC with 75,000 samples.

Now a days, there are many security systems are used for different security purposes. The text based passwords are widely used for authentication in many internet applications. But the text password is insecure for a variety of reasons. For example, users tend to pick passwords that can be easily guessed. On the other hand, if a password is hard to guess, then it is often hard to remember. Due to this reasons, the graphical password is the one best alternative for text based password. In this paper Captcha technology with the graphical password is introduced which increases the security. Captcha is the Completely Automated Public Turing test which tells the Computers and Humans Apart. Captcha is an image or a program that protects websites from bots that is computer generated program. Here graphical password system is built on top of Captcha technology, which is named as Captcha as graphical passwords (CaRP). CaRP is the combination of both graphical password and Captcha. CaRP system takes the advantages of both Captcha and the graphical password. It avoids the many security problems altogether. The problems like as shoulder-surfing attacks, relay attacks, online guessing attacks, etc. CaRP also overcome the disadvantages of graphical password system. image hotspot problem is the well-known problem in graphical password system that is avoided in CaRP system. Frame length control has been widely applied to traditional communication system to improve their performance. However, most of the existing research using the data transmission efficiency oriented approach can not adapt to situation of internet of Thing (IoT), where quality of received information is more important. In this paper, based on our former work where compressive sensing is applied to facilitate efficient wireless information transmission over lossy communication links, we further investigate frame length effect on signal/information transmission. Noting that correctly received packets corresponds to a deterministic projection matrix which shows inefficiency when using large packet length. To cope with this problem, we first analyze the impact of bit error rate and signal sparsity on frame length control in signal/information transmission, then adopt traditional communication technique-data interleaving to optimize its performance. Extensive simulations has been conducted and results show that signal/information transmission efficiency can be quite different compared with data transmission efficiency, which inspires us to choose different optimal frame length to optimize different communication demand.

images acquired and processed in communication and multimedia systems are often noisy. Thus, pre-filtering is a typical stage to remove noise. At this stage, a special attention has to be paid to image visual quality. This paper analyzes denoising efficiency from the viewpoint of visual quality improvement using metrics that take into account human vision system (HVS). Specific features of the paper consist in, first, considering filters based on discrete cosine transform (DCT) and, second, analyzing the filter performance locally. Such an analysis is possible due to the structure and peculiarities of the metric PSNR-HVS-M. It is shown that a more advanced DCT-based filter BM3D outperforms a simpler (and faster) conventional DCT-based filter in locally active regions, i.e., neighborhoods of edges and small-sized objects. This conclusions allows accelerating BM3D filter and can be used in further improvement of the analyzed denoising techniques.

In view of the people dramatic increase in the demand for wine, wine culture has be gradually integrated into Taiwanese's daily diet of life. However, the kernel skills of existed wine information systems are mostly based on text searching techniques and this will restrict the system usability especially the text on wine label is not print in English. There are only a small number of mobile information systems which provide related wine information with visual search function. In this paper, we proposed an efficient mobile visual search scheme for wine label recognition using a client-server architecture. Furthermore, a hierarchical feature search method is proposed to improve the image matching performance of searching similar wine label images in database. Experimental results reveal that the proposed wine label information system can achieve 95.05% accuracy rate in 202 wine label images recognition test and 0.26 second matching time for each image query.

In this paper, we discuss semantic image annotation and propose a novel approach, called EMERGSEM, based on emergent image semantics and a recommendation system. The emergent semantics of images are derived from a generic ontology and are generated collaboratively by a group of annotators who assign keywords from a predefined lexical dictionary to images. The resulting instantiated semantic concept graph is used to interpret and relate image objects. In addition, a recommendation system based on a Galois lattice is used to classify user preferences to determine final recommendation lists by finding similarities between correlated groups of user profiles.

Converting Handwritten documents to its machine written counterpart using Optical Character Recognition has many benefits like easier formatting, less storage apace, and automatic translation if needed. However, it has many noise difficulties; one of them is the ruled lines intersection with the text. In this paper, we introduce a trial to detect these ruled lines and remove them without affecting the text strokes significantly in grey-level image documents. The detection stage use Hough Transform in four squared sub-windows. And the removal stage employs intensity histogram and its entropy to isolate the text. The removal stage is followed by a morphological based enhancement for the resulting text. The proposed technique has been tested on several test real-world image documents and achieved very good results.

Content-based music retrieval technology has been widely used in modern society. The query by humming method by user's humming matching music segment is a research hotspot in recent years. This paper puts forward a new method based on music phrase segmentation and matching. Music is segmented into phrases according to the note duration and the note interval, and music fragments match humming fragments in phrases.
