Compressive sensing (CS) has received a lot of interest due to its compression capability and lack of complexity on the sensor side. This paper presented a new image fusion based on compressed sensing. The method decomposes two or more original images using directionlet transform, and gets the sparse matrix by the directionlet coefficients sparse representation, and fuses the sparse matrices with the coefficients absolute value maximum scheme. The compressed sample can be received through randomly observed. The fused image is recovered from the reduced samples by solving the optimization. The study demonstrates that CS-based image fusion has a number of perceived advantages in comparison with image fusion in the infrared image domain. The simulations show that the proposed CS-based image fusion algorithm has the advantages of simple structure and easy implementation, and also can achieve a better fusion performance. © 2014 Springer international Publishing Switzerland.

In speech recognition, phoneme classification has recently gained increased attention. The combination of classifiers has emerged as a reliable method and is used for decision-making by combining individual opinions to produce a final decision. In this study, we propose a novel classifier based on the combination of Naive Bayes and Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) using weighted voting to recognize the consonants and vowels of a local language Fongbe in Benin. Indeed we are faced with a problem of lack of training data where the results of different classifiers may be uncertain. To improve decisions, in this work we combine a classification approach based on probability theory and another approach based on finding the nearest neighbor. Different techniques of speech analysis are used for evaluation and results show that the most significant classification rates were achieved with PLP coefficients. The different results showed the effectiveness of our approach.

In the practical application of the internet of things, due to noise, sensor error, wireless communication techniques and other reasons, uncertain complex event processing has become very important. In order to deal with the large-scale probabilistic stream, we propose an improved method to not only process large volumes of real-time event stream effectively but also calculate the probability of outputs of compound events. It is based on an existing stream processing engine RFID Complex Event Detection Algorithm (RECDA), and we extend its evaluation model to a new type of matching tree in order to process the historical probabilistic event. In the design of matching tree, we consider optimizations to reduce the multi-query cost with Related Query Table. The experiment shows that the method is effective in handling multi-query uncertain event stream applications. © 2014 Springer international Publishing Switzerland.

This paper proposes a remote control system of Sphero using a web browser. Sphero is a robotics ball that is controlled by using a smartphone. A user can control Sphero using Android or iOS application. However, the user is supposed to be with the Sphero. We provides a remote control system as a web application. The user can control Sphero using a web browser. The Sphero connects to a smartphone and the smartphone connects to the web server. The smartphone is a relay station. The user sends operation commands to the web server using the web browser. The smartphone receives the commands from the web server and forwards it to the Sphero. The smartphone also sends camera images to the web server. The web browser receives the image from the web server and displays it. This means that the user can observe the state of the Sphero and control Sphero at a different place from a place that the Sphero exists. We confirm the behavior of our system and clarify some problems.

Counting and analysis of blood cells allow the evaluation and diagnosis of a vast number of diseases. In particular, the identification of white blood cells and red blood cells is a topic of great interest to hematologists. Nowadays the observation of blood samples is still performed manually by skilled operators. This task is tedious, lengthy and repetitive, and the results accuracy heavily depends on the operator skills. Differently, the automated analysis by computer is performed quickly, requires only one image of the blood sample and provides precise results. One of the major steps on image analysis is segmentation, that subdivides images into meaningful parts. Thresholding is one of the most used technique and subdivides the image pixels on the basis of their intensity grey levels. There are many crisp techniques for calculating the threshold value of an image. Recently many intuitionistic fuzzy methods have been proposed to determine the optimal threshold value, showing better results for segmentation but not even better computational performance. In this paper we propose an intuitionistic fuzzy set approach for optimal threshold selection based on computations performed on the histogram. This method is then extended in order to perform multiple thresholds and in order to take into account possible local variations on the image. The proposed approach has been tested on peripheral blood images, in order to subdivide the various image components, showing excellent performance both for segmentation both in terms of speed.

Digital color image encryption is different from text encryption because of some inherent features of image such as huge data capacity and high correlation among the neighboring pixels. Because of the desirable cryptographic properties of the chaotic maps such as sensitivity to initial conditions and random-like behave, more and more researches use these properties for encryption. This paper proposed an efficient image encryption scheme. Logistic chaos-based stream cipher is utilized to permute the color image. The MD5 hash function and the ZUC stream cipher algorithm are combined to diffusion the color image. Theoretical and experimental analyses both confirm the security and the validity of the proposed algorithm. © 2014 Springer international Publishing Switzerland. All rights reserved.

Denoising algorithms are usually tested on standard test images with artificial white Gaussian noise added. This noise model cannot be applied in the denoising of digital images taken with a single sensor camera because of the signal-dependence of the noise, the demosaicking and the color transformations. We study the noise characteristics with respect to the signal domain. Noise distribution and variance are measured in the raw data and approximated using a Gaussian distribution with a variance linearly dependent on the signal. We evaluate the influence of white balance, debayering and the signal domain and calculate the spatial correlation of the noise. In our experiments we both evaluate the influence of the noise characteristics on human perception and on the performance of denoising methods. based on a subjective test with 18 participants we can show that the spatially correlated camera noise is more visible than the white Gaussian noise and decreases the visual quality of color image sequences significantly. To evaluate the impact of the noise characteristic on denoising, two state-of-the-art denoising methods are applied to our test data. When the noise is signal-dependent and spatially correlated through debayering the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) decreases by up to 8 dB. We conclude that it is very important to take into account the correct noise characteristics for increasing the visual quality of color image sequences in future research. © 2014 Society for Imaging Science and technology.

With the growth of internet access technologies, sensors/machines performing environment sensing and control can connect to internet anytime and anywhere. However, there is no framework for users to integrate the sensors/ machines and the server. The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and all-IP architecture has been proposed as a common platform for Next Generation Network (NGN). This paper proposes a SIP/IMS platform for internet of Things (IoT) in WLAN-3GPP integrated networks. This IMS platform includes Instant Message and Presence Service (IMPS) application servers (ASs). The Call Session Control Functions (CSCFs) perform the session setup and termination for a long-term communications. The IMPS ASs handles message exchange for short-term communications. Finally, this paper analyzes the efficiency of difference query/report methods and gives a conclusion. © 2014 Springer international Publishing Switzerland. All rights reserved.

Visual vocabulary representation approach has been successfully applied to many multimedia and vision applications, including visual recognition, image retrieval, and scene modeling/categorization. The idea behind the visual vocabulary representation is that an image can be represented by visual words, a collection of local features of images. In this work, we will develop a new scheme for the construction of visual vocabulary based on the analysis of visual word contents. By considering the content homogeneity of visual words, we design a visual vocabulary which contains macro-sense and micro-sense visual words. The two types of visual words are appropriately further combined to describe an image effectively. We also apply the visual vocabulary to construct image categorization system. The performance evaluation for the system indicates that the proposed visual vocabulary achieves promising results. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2014.

This paper presents a new multispectral imaging system and a new approach to map vineyard leaf development in the context of Precision Viticulture. It is based on the use of a 2-CCD camera (RGB/NIR). This camera is embedded on a track laying tractor and associated with a GNSS system. It works with natural ambient light. A Green seeker is also embedded to validate the first results of imagery. It is a sensor usually used in viticulture to assess the foliage density of vines. The images are calibrated in order to correct geometric distortion and variations of the natural light. The parameters of the geometric correction are stable over time, whereas the radiometric correction needs to include a color checker in the background of all the images. For each of them, a calibration model is computed and reflectance of objects is obtained. The calibrated images can be compared with each other. During 2013, four datasets of about 5000 images were acquired. For all the images, a vegetation index is performed to retrieve agronomic information. based on these images, different vineyard maps were generated with calibrated images, with non-calibrated images, and with Green seeker values. We present and discuss some of them in order to assess the relevancy of the approach.
