This paper presents an image compression technique for DubaiSat-2 based on Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT). Initially, the image is divided into non-overlapping sub-blocks and transformed to a frequency domain using DCT. Then the thresholding technique is applied to eliminate lower energy coefficients. The resultant coefficients are quantized at a user specified bit rates. The proposed method is tested on both gray scale and color images. The performance of the proposed method is analyzed using Peak signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR).

In this work, a low power CMOS imager based on distributed compressed sensing (DCS) is proposed. DCS enables simultaneous multi-channel signal acquisition at sub-Nyquist rates, thereby saving power and hardware complexity. Multiple images are being sensed at sub-Nyquist rates with a pseudo random sequence in the analog domain and the images are recovered simultaneously with the DCS simultaneous orthogonal matching pursuit (DCS-SOMP) algorithm. The complete system has been implemented in a 1.8 V, 0.18 μm CMOS technology with a single multiplexed ADC and is capable of sensing 16 image channels simultaneously. The sensing operation has been realized in the charge domain using switched capacitor techniques and thus consuming very low power. The system performance has been tested with a set of endoscopic images and the results show an average PSNR of 29.17 dB while sensing 16 images at a compression ratio of 1/4 and at 20 frames per second (FPS) with a power consumption of 36.8 mW per image.

ZigBee is a revolutionary technique for wireless mutual communication. based on it, we designed software and hardware of location system relating to underground personnel in this paper. The system is composed of gateway node, reference node and location node, and those three connected with upper monitor. It can transmit real-time location data from personnel to graphics monitor software, and achieve the function of real-time tracking for location node. Ranging algorithm based on RSSI is adopted as location algorithm. We can minimize location error smaller than 3 meters.

Nowadays, Video Compression has gaining important because of its application in different field like internet. So, there is different algorithm used to achieve the compression of Video. Video Compression algorithms combine Spatial image compression and Temporal motion compression. The sequence of frames contains Spatial and Temporal redundancies that Video Compression algorithms attempt to eliminate or code in smaller size. In this paper, We present a design of Binary motion vector technique with Pruning Discrete Wavelet Transform for the compression of AVI video. Here, Binary motion vector technique used for searching the Best matching block. This technique requires less candidates block than other motion vector technique. Pruning based DWT uses thresholding which will enhance the compression ratio with desirable Peak signal to Noise ratio. This algorithm will be going to simulate on XilinxISE13.1 and implement on SPARTEN3 FPGA.

image super resolution attempts to extract a high resolution image using one or more corrupted low resolution images. Typical sparse dictionary based super resolution methods remove the undesired effects but may not significantly enhance resolution. In contrast, methods that exploit local self-similarity enhance the native resolution as well as the undesired artifacts present in the low resolution image. In this paper, we propose a novel single image super resolution approach that renders high resolution images by exploiting dictionary based non-local methods and uses local similarity of small spatial patches of the image to eliminate undesired artifacts. Our quantitative results on several test datasets are promising.

With the advancement of technology, improving the dynamic range of the monitor screen has become an urgent matter. Because the dynamic range of surveillance cameras is much lower in comparison to what is actually happening in the real-world, they tend to miss out some important information. Current surveillance systems often rely on automatic exposure control to obtain images, hence the images are dark and unclear at night. In order to make the images brighter and clearer at night, it is necessary for surveillance cameras to proceed with long exposure time during shooting, but this will lead to moving objects blurring. Thus, the existing image exposure fusion technology can not solve this problem. Therefore, we propose a novel image exposure fusion algorithm that uses block-based edge strength to find the optimal blocks from two differently exposed images. After that, a high dynamic range image is fused from these blocks. Finally, our approach possesses lower computing complexity, memory requirements and high image quality such that it is suitable for implementation in a generally embedded platform.

This paper describes the design and implementation of an OMAP3530-based networked control system which has real-time image processing capability. It integrates an ARM core and a DSP core in the controller. The ARM core with Linux operating system is responsible for applying functional services and the DSP core is responsible for executing image processing algorithms. The due-core structure makes the novel controller available for advanced control and image processing so that the designed control system expands the application of the existed networked controllers to machine vision. Finally, a reliable application for vision-based mobile robot localization demonstrates the effectiveness of the designed system.
