Abnormal event detection has attracted a lot of attention in the computer vision research community during recent years due to the increased focus on automated surveillance systems to improve security in public places. Due to the scarcity of training data and the definition of an abnormality being dependent on context, abnormal event detection is generally formulated as a data-driven approach where activities are modeled in an unsupervised fashion during the training phase. In this work, we use a Gaussian mixture model (GMM) to cluster the activities during the training phase, and propose a Gaussian mixture model based Markov random field (GMM-MRF) to estimate the likelihood scores of new videos in the testing phase. Further-more, we propose two new features: optical acceleration, and the histogram of optical flow gradients; to detect the presence of any abnormal objects and speed violations in the scene. We show that our proposed method outperforms other state of the art abnormal event detection algorithms on publicly available UCSD dataset.

The most important requirements should be available on any watermarking systems which are the robustness against possible attacks and the quality of the watermarked images. In most applications, the watermarking algorithm embeds the watermark have to be robust against possible attacks and keep the quality of the host media as possible. The relationship between the two requirements is completely conflict. In this study, the method focuses on the robustness against chosen attacks for the watermarked image based on Dual Intermediate Significant Bit (DISB) model. This method requires embedding two bits into every pixel of the original image, while and the other six bits are changed so as to directly assimilate the original pixel. In the case, when the two hidden bits are equal or not equal to the original bits, there is a need to use mathematical equations to solve this problem which derived and applied in this study. The results show that the proposed model produces robustness watermarked images as compared to our previous method when focuses on the high quality of the watermarked image which proved that proposed method is better as compared with the Least Significant Bit (LSB) after embedding two bits. The best values investigated when the Peak signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) is equal or more than 30db, and finding the best Normalized Cross Correlation (NCC) to evaluate the image resistance against attacks. The best values investigated when the two embedded bits are k1=4 and k2=6.

This paper presents a new framework and feature set for vehicle model query system. By giving model names or manufacturer names as keywords, the desired vehicle images can be queried from target videos or vehicle image databases using internet-vision approach. In this framework, sample images are automatically retrieved from internet via search engine or car related website. Logos and frontal masks are segmented and are used for recognizing the manufacturer name and model of the vehicles, respectively. Eigenfaces and Pyramid Histogram of Oriented Gradients (PHOG) are proposed as features for recognition process. The experiments show that the proposed method can provide recognition rate of 98.2 % for manufacturer logo recognition process, and 94.00% for vehicle model recognition process. The performance of the entire framework of our proposed query system is also evaluated via precision and recall which are obtained as 87.67% and 80.00%, respectively.

This paper explores the relationships between migration and trade using a complex-network approach. We show that: (i) both weighted and binary versions of the networks of international migration and trade are strongly correlated;(ii) such correlations can be mostly explained by country economic/demographic size and geographical distance;(iii) pairs of countries that are more central in the international-migration network trade more.

Digital multipliers are indispensable in the hardware implementation of many important functions such as DCT, IDCT, FFT etc in signal processing. This paper deals with Design and implementation of Vedic Multipler in image Compression using DCT algorithm. The DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) performs spatial compression of the data while IDCT performs decompression of the data. Here, matrix multiplication is one of the important step in both the transforms. Hence, to perform these computations, we introduce Vedic multiplier which is based on Urdhava Tiryakbhyam(vertical and crosswise) sutra. In this paper, we have designed DCT algorithm using Verilog and code is written in Xilinx I.S.E 7.1i version, synthesized on Xilinx Synthesis Tool (XST). We retrieved Register Transfer Logic (RTL) and the simulation results are observed on Modelsim 6.0 Simulator. These simulation results were compared with matlab simulation results. From the comparison, we see that DCT using Vedic Multiplier is efficiently implemented and the proposed Vedic multiplier significantly improves the computational speed involved in multiplication operations of the image processing. Hence, Vedic multipliers can find immense use in applications of image processing to save time and area.

A computer machine vision system that can be used for automatic high-speed fruit sorting and grading is proposed. The objective of the project is to develop the advanced quality control inspection system makes use of distributed network architecture to interface the camera unit to a computer system through GigE LAN environment in a flexible way. The development work activity involves in dynamic capturing of image signal from camera when the objects are moving on the conveyor in real time based on synchronized trigger events. This project planned to do in visual studio using OpenCV. The process involved for estimating the colour information and geometry parameters makes use of sequence of complex library functionality like removing the noise, detecting the edges, smoothing, dilate, erode, filling, deblurring, filtering, histogram, colour values, pixel averaging, etc.

Comet assay or Single Cell Gell Electrophoresis (SCGE) is a standard method for detecting Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid (DNA) damage in individual cells. The final stage of comet assay process is image acquisition and analysis. An effective automatic method for detecting comets from very noisy comet assay images is proposed in this paper. Most of the related work in this area are based on fluorescent stained comet assay images. But, silver staining method is commonly used for clinical applications in developing countries like India as it is inexpensive, slides can be preserved for a long time and is less hazardous. Currently most of the comet assay systems employ image analysis modules that are semi-automated which have the disadvantages of requirement of skilled personnel and having limited throughput. Hence, it is evident that a fully automated image analysis system is critical for rapid and accurate DNA damage detection. Therefore, an automatic comet detection stage as part of a fully automated comet assay image analysis system for DNA damage analysis and quantification is developed and implemented here. based on our results and evaluation by a clinical expert, the performance of the proposed method is found to be better than that of the existing methods in terms of %TP, %FN, %FP, PPV and sensitivity.

Fashion is one of the most important factors in our lives. A lot of people enjoy their fashion. On the other hand, they are not confident about their fashion coordination. Especially, it is a very worrisome problem to purchase a new fashion item that suits to their clothing. In this paper, we propose an image-retrieval-based system for supporting a person's fashion coordination and purchase of new fashion items. This system provides users an efficient way to know and purchase the fashion items which suit to those in their closets. The user uploads the image of his or her clothing and specifies the part which he or she puts it on. Then, our system retrieves similar items and recommends fashion coordinate from our fashion coordinate database that has been collected from fashion websites.

Hybrid image compression system is discussed and analyzed for better objective fidelity metrics combining the advantages of Coiflet filter functions of wavelets, Predictive Coding (Differential Pulse Code Modulation-DPCM) and neural networks in addition to quantization and Huffman encoding techniques to eliminate the interpixel, psychovisual redundancy and coding redundancy. Artificial neural networks are self adaptive i.e. they can adjust themselves to data without any specification of the functional model they are fault tolerant by architecture. Wavelets (by choice) on the other hand are computationally simple and provide good compression ratios for high resolution images especially while DPCM removes redundancy in the information. Initially selected wavelet of choice (Coiflet5 in this case) is applied on the input image for two level decomposition generating seven bands of low frequency and high frequency coefficients. The low frequency band 1 coefficients are compressed with DPCM technique while the remaining bands of coefficients are compressed with artificial neural networks. Metrics obtained: Peak signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) Mean Square Error (MSE) and Compression Ratio (CR) are tabulated for comparative analysis.

Map matching is the process of finding a match for each GPS point in a vehicle's trajectory to roads on a digital map. Extensive research has been conducted during the last years yielding many algorithms based on different approaches. One of the challenges that face those algorithms is the interruption of GPS signals that occurs specially in dense urban environments. In these cases on-board sensors like odometers and accelerometers can be used temporarily for positioning, however due to the poor accuracy of these methods, the quality of map matching decreases significantly. In this paper, we propose a method that improves the quality of map matching when GPS signals are not available. This method is based on a particle filter using heading and velocity measurement. We evaluate this method through its integration with an existing topological map matching algorithm. We compare the performances when this algorithm is used alone and when associated with the particle filter.
