Robust hand tracking is in increasing demand from areas such as natural Human Robot/Computer interaction (HRI/HCI) and surveillance systems, while it is still a great challenge due to human hand's drastic appearance change. In recent years, online learning techniques have shown great potential in learning appearance of objects and tackling occlusion. This paper extends an online learning framework called Tracking-Learning-Detection (TLD) to track human hand. The main extensions are: 1) original tracker is replaced by a hybrid multi-cue base tracker combining Median-Flow tracker and Flock-of-Features (FoF) tracker, 2) skin color cue is integrated into cascade detector and PN online learning for more efficiency. Extensive experiments show that the new framework works with more robustness compared with state-of-the-art hand trackers and also original TLD.

In this paper, green image ALU is designed in Xilinx ISE 14.6 using LVDCI(Low Voltage Digitally Control Impedance) and LVDCI_DV2(Half Impedance Version of LVDCI) I/O standard in 40nm Virtex-6 FPGA. By using LVDCI technology we achieve energy efficiency with respect to low voltage impedance. In this whole work, we are using three different classes of LVDCI and LVDCI_DV2 and observe that when image ALU operates at 1THz device operating frequency with LVDCI_15 and LVDCI_DV2_15 I/O Standard, there is 52.87% and 65.67% reduction in IO power than LVDCI_25 and LVDCI_DV2_25 Standard respectively. In image ALU, there are 16 different operations (logical and arithmetic). There is no any change in Clock power, Leakage power and signal power of image ALU using LVDCI and LVDCI_DV2 I/O Standard.

Traffic surveillance systems that use cameras are an important tool for controlling pedestrian crowds in subway stations. Large stations need many cameras which cause difficulty for traffic-control operators who need to react quickly when an accident takes place at a specific location. This paper reports on a new technologybased on computer vision for use in a pedestrian crowd estimation and safety detection system. The system first collects data from video cameras and instantly converts the data to gray-brightness images frame by frame. Then the outline of each pedestrian in each image is extracted using Sobel filter convolution. Parameters of the processed images are obtained for each frame. The functional relationship between pedestrian density and image parameters (such as bin30) is set up. An alert system is developed based on this proposed method. The paper presents a test-case of the Lama Temple interchange station of the Beijing subway. The density and fundamental diagram of the flow of pedestrians is tested and compared with the same data collected manually. Results show that this methodology is effective, fast, and practical for use.

This paper introduces the concept of Network Supported Collaborative Work (NSCW) and its transport design based on the emerging standard of MPEG Media Transport (MMT). based on extra-high quality 4K video technologies, NSCW is being developed to realize effective remote-collaboration for business workspaces. MMT specifies technologies for the delivery of coded media data for multimedia services over the concatenation of heterogeneous packet based network segments including bidirectional IP networks and unidirectional digital broadcasting networks. One of the core technologies for delivery is forward error correction (FEC) codes. Simulation results using our proposed MMT FEC codes show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Electronic image stabilization (EIS) technology is an important research area of video processing and computer vision. This paper presented a set of fast and parallel EIS algorithms. Firstly, this paper proposed a fast local motion vector (LMV) estimation algorithm based on the FAST feature to solve the problem that the traditional algorithm is too complex. Secondly, a parallel global motion vector (GMV) algorithm based on image division is designed, which computes every LMV simultaneously, and then estimates the GMV by all LMVs. Finally, based on the proposed algorithm, an EIS systemsbased on BF609 dual-core DSP processor is designed and implemented. Experiment results show that the algorithm and system presented in this thesis can effectively stabilize jittery video and achieve high real-time performance. When dealing with PAL standard video, the total time cost is less than 40ms.
