This paper presents the VL-ICOON project, a research project focussing on the Integration of Iconographical Databases of the Built Heritage. Part of the paper deals with the development of the VL-ICOON database as a case study on making iconographical documentation of Built Heritage more easily accessible by using international standards, guidelines and new technologies. Further we focus on the technical requirements and developments for exchanging information of this kind between different partners through the internet. Accessibility to such intelligent image based information can be of great interest for conservators, heritage managers or other end users served with virtual representations of the built heritage.

Autonomic remote system image management support (e.g., remote system installation and backup) is crucial for the management of clusters in large scale grid computing environments in which clusters at different locations are integrated into a single large sale computing system. We propose a Grid-based remote image management environment (called RISE) which is designed to support ease of use, high performance installation, and resiliency against failure and configuration changes. Major features of the RISE system are: (1) remote system image installation, backup and recovery via a web-based simple and intuitive user interface, (2) parallel installation, (3) backup image databases (2) self-configuration (autonomic configuration propagation and recovery protocol), (3) self-healing (autonomic backup image database replication and recovery). The development of the system with no support for grid environments has been completed and its commercial version by Samsung Electronics has been available since the June of 2006. The development of the grid support version is under-way.

Detecting the optic disk (OD) is very important in the fundus image analysis. In this paper, we propose a new OD detection algorithm consisting of four main steps: first, obtaining the sub-image which includes the OD from the fundus image based on the saliency map; second, generating the super-pixel from the sub-image with a simple linear iterative clustering (SLIC) algorithm; third, classifying the super-pixel into OD or non-OD based on the AdaBoost algorithm; fourth, fitting the detected OD region with a circle based on the active geometric shape model. The proposed method has been evaluated on the Digital Retinal images for Optic Nerve Segmentation (DRIONS) database. Experimental results show that our algorithm is very competitive with the state-of-the-art method.

With the rapid development of computer technology and the internet era, machine vision is a new science and technology formed by the cross-integration of various disciplines such as image processing theory, advanced information science and digital signal processing methods based on computers. The application of computer in information processing has become an inevitable trend, it can better acquire and understand images, and it can quickly and effectively analyze, extract useful targets and provide decision makers with the required content. This can also improve work efficiency and accuracy to achieve a more precise and automated management level, and play a huge role in life. First of all, this paper uses the ORB algorithm for target recognition for the identification and positioning of static targets, but this algorithm still has the problem of low feature matching accuracy. Therefore, an improved ORB feature matching method based on multiple constraints is proposed; Secondly, it studies the design of the machine vision image target recognition system, including the overall function design of the system, the system process design and the system experimental verification.

The rapid urbanization and increasing traffic congestion pose significant challenges for traffic management systems. To alleviate these issues, we proposed an innovative solution for traffic signal automation using internet of Things (IoT) technology. The objective is to develop a smart traffic management system that can dynamically adapt traffic signal timing based on real-time traffic intensity. This research paper presents a novel approach to traffic signal automation using IoT technology and IR sensors. The proposed system provides realtime traffic monitoring, adaptive signal control, and efficient decision-making, leading to enhanced traffic management and improved overall urban mobility. Traffic congestion is a persistent problem in urban areas, leading to increased travel times, fuel consumption, and environmental pollution. To address these challenges, this study proposes an internet of Things (IoT)-based traffic signal automation system that utilizes infrared (IR) sensors to sense and detect traffic intensity at intersections. The objective of this research is to develop an efficient and reliable traffic signal control mechanism that dynamically adapts to varying traffic conditions. The proposed system employs IR sensors strategically placed at different locations to monitor the presence and movement of vehicles. These sensors detect infrared radiation emitted by vehicles, enabling the system to estimate traffic density and occupancy.

Ultra-wideband (UWB) radios are candidates for high data rate and power-constrained applications such as wireless sensor and body area networks. Compressive sensing (CS) is a promising signal processing solution which can reduce the sampling requirements as well as avoid the narrowband interference (NBI) in UWB systems by utilizing the sparsity of the transmitted signal. In this paper, we investigate the BER performance for mitigation of multiple NBI in CS based UWB systems. Simulation shows that at high signal to interference ration (SIR), the performance enhances as the bandwidth of the NBI increases. As the UWB signal's bandwidth increases, the number of the notched measurements lessens and we preserve the important information about the transmitted pulse. Additionally, the bandwidth occupied by the NBI relative to the center frequency of the transmitted pulse determines the amount of the degradation in the performance. In addition, the paper studies the impact of the transmitted pulse shape.

In order to improve the process of analysis and retrieval of images, it is necessary to examine the execution of such program at the lowest level. This paper reports the results obtained from profiling the execution of an object-oriented image processing and analysis program termed imageJ. Although profiling has been used in software engineering to identify execution bottlenecks, to our knowledge, it has not been considered as a means of analysis object based distributed image processing systems. The paper summaries the characteristics of the program in four aspects: classes and method codes profiling, method calls, parameter types and return types and CPU percentage. The profiling results show that the total amount of classes that was loaded at runtime is invariant to the change of the image size. Similar behaviours are observed for parameter types and return types. based on the information, an intelligent monitor can be used to carry out automatic load scheduling and balancing

In the recent times communication and network system technology has been a major and rapid growing part of internet traffic. internet broadband telecommunication network traffics are estimated to support various traffic types such as data, voice, image and video. The analysis is performed on packet traces from existing wireless LAN system. In this paper, analysis of experimental study on existing wireless LAN network traffic is calculated. Packet traces for uptime, downtime and average time for every scenario like data, image and video from the existing Wireless LAN network traffic are collected for analysis. The main thesis of this paper is to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the packet traffic and improve strength of signals including with mobility scenarios like voice, image and video has to work without interruption. Input for analysis contains four different data sets: aggregate traffic, uptime traffic, downtime traffic, only TCP packets are collected from traffic system using Wire shark Tool is considered. The real-time reliability of system is evaluated by using the Weibull++ Software and Wire shark Software Tools. From these results, predicted the future analysis on strength of the signals of the Wi-Fi network traffic placed in various places. Mathematical results are provided for further evaluation and also to obtain the Life Characteristics of system such as Reliability, Probability of failure at specific time and Mean life based on the present data that is collected from existing Wi-Fi system by using statistical software tool Weibull++ version 10.1.2 developed by ReliaSoft.

This paper presents an effective recognition method based on perceptual organization of low level features detected in an image. The method uses a dynamic programming (DP) based formulation to represent various line groups such as convex, concave, and more complex patterns consisting of convex and concave shapes. The essential features of perceptual organization such as endpoint proximity, collinearity, parallelism, and connectivity of lines, are incorporated into the DP based formulation as energy terms. As endpoint proximity, we detect two line junctions from image lines. We then search for junction groups by using collinearity constraint between the junctions. A DP-based search algorithm is used to detect a junction chain similar to the model chain, based on a local comparison. The proposed system is able to find line groups from images with broken lines and strong background clutters. We demonstrate the feasibility of our DP-based matching method based on perceptual organization using real images.

The amount of digitized music stored on personal computers and available on the internet is growing at a rapid rate. To address the access problem that this creates, we explore adapting HMM-based wordspotting techniques from speech recognition to create a system for melody-based retrieval of songs from a database of digitized music stored in a musically-unstructured format. In this paper, we present the construction of this melody spotter and evaluate its performance when trained under different feature vectors including a musical scale-based subset of the FFT and two Mel-scale based features. The results show the success of this system under the scale-based features when presented with both perfect melody queries and queries perturbed by minor errors.
