In the age of digital technology, computer- and networking-based technologies have increased the enormous demand for multimedia data transmission through the internet. In the context of multimedia data, images are widely shared and transferred because these provide more content, and sensitive and confidential information, which are also accompanied by several security risks. This paper presents a novel hiding approach for a triple image using a wavelet transform with a phase-truncated Fourier transform (PTFT) process. In the scheme, the involvement of wavelet transform helps to create watermarking to hide three images that also work as a pre-processing layer which are then undergone for encryption combining processes of phase truncation and phase reservation. This encryption process generates a real-value ciphertext and two decryption keys for retrieving the images. Additionally, the parameters of wavelet and pixel scrambling orders are required at the decryption stage. The effectiveness of the proposed idea for triple image hiding is assessed by determining the mean square error and the correlation coefficient for the decryption steps. The simulation experiments present higher security and robustness against unauthorized attempts. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

This study explores the development and evaluation of an internet of Things (IoT)-based automated hydroponic system tailored for lettuce cultivation, aimed at optimizing plant growth while minimizing manual intervention. The system integrates Arduino Nano microcontrollers for managing pH and TDS sensors, transmitting data to a Raspberry Pi 4b for centralized data processing and pump control. Over a rigorous 5-day experimental period, the pH and TDS sensors demonstrated robust performance with average measurement errors of 3% and 4%, respectively, ensuring accurate monitoring of nutrient solution conditions. The automated system effectively maintained optimal pH levels (between 5.5 and 6.5) and TDS concentrations (ranging from 560 to 840 ppm) critical for lettuce growth. Additionally, leveraging the YOLOv5 model for image processing facilitated real-time monitoring and classification of lettuce growth stages, achieving a classification accuracy of 56%. This capability provides insights into plant development and facilitates timely intervention in cultivation practices. These results highlight the potential of IoT and machine learning technologies to enhance precision agriculture by ensuring precise monitoring, efficient resource management, and proactive decision-making in hydroponic farming. By reducing manual labor and optimizing resource utilization, such systems contribute to sustainable agricultural practices, addressing challenges posed by global population growth and urbanization. In conclusion, this research underscores the feasibility and benefits of integrating IoT and AI technologies in modern agriculture, paving the way for future advancements in automated farming systems that can sustainably meet global food demands. © 2024 IEEE.

To improve the performance of spectrum sensing at low SNR, a collaborative spectrum sensing method based on feature extraction and fusion clustering is proposed (FEFC). First, the sampling matrix of the received signal is vectorially decomposed to obtain the I and Q component signals. Second, Cholesky decomposition is applied to the covariance matrices of the I and Q signals to fully extract their features and construct the two dimensional feature vectors. The K-Means clustering algorithm is used to optimize the initial parameters of the Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM), effectively preventing it from falling into local minima under low SNR. Finally, the feature vectors of the signals are classified using GMM clustering optimized by the K-Means algorithm to obtain the final spectrum sensing results. Simulation results show that this method reduces the convergence time of GMM and improves the accuracy of model classification. In this paper, an innovative reversible dual image information hiding technique is proposed, which utilizes the coordinate vectors generated by the original pixel pairs to hide secret information at two combined locations in four directions. In the process of image transmission, it is not easy to be detected, and the receiver of the image data can completely restore the stego image to the original image, which is very suitable for the transmission of confidential information such as medicine or intelligent transportation. In recent years, many researchers have used this technique to improve the quality of embedded steganographic images and the ability to hide secret information. In the field of digital image information hiding, embedding capacity and Peak signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) are two important quantitative evaluation indicators. The higher the PSNR value, the closer the distorted digital image quality is to the original digital image. If the PSNR is higher than 30dB, it is generally considered to be ideal image quality. We extract two pixels from the original image and embed the secret information according to different hidden parameters and . The minimum hiding ability is 1 bit per pixel (bpp) or above. According to our experimental results, when the hidden capacity of the steganographic image is 1 bpp, the PSNR value of the image is 50.65 dB, and when the hidden capacity is 2 bpp, the PSNR value of the image is 37.88 dB. This means that our proposed method has good image quality and embedding capacity. © 2023 ACM.

We analyze the energy requirements for assessing the heating load of building systems using the k-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) method for classification. Unsupervised transformations of the dataset are employed in learning algorithms. Two distinct data representation classes are generated separately from the original dataset based on captured heating load magnitudes. The unsupervised transformations of the dataset yield 4 and 8 classes, *** evaluate performance, various test and training sizes are employed, comparing measurement outcomes and predicting class label descriptions for two dataset representations as the parameter for the nearest neighbor (k) ranges from 1 to 20. Results obtained from the simulation indicate that accuracy is influenced by factors such as test size, the k parameter, and dataset class count. The training and test accuracy rates reach maximum values of 95% and 85%, respectively. Keeping k constant, the test size has a negligible impact on accuracy. The classes exhibit three critical regions: 1) Region I, where accuracy fluctuates with increasing k in the interval [1]-[5], and 2) Region II, where accuracy declines with increasing k in the interval [5]-[10]. In Region III k [10]-[20], accuracy remains relatively constant. While reducing the number of classes may result in a slight improvement in accuracy by simplifying the classification task, the trade-offs and complexities of increasing the number of classes for data representation should be carefully considered. Although this approach can lead to a more flexible design, it may slightly reduce accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Impurity levels in air have risen throughout time as a result of several reasons, such as population expansion, increased automobile use, industry, and urbanization. All of these elements harm the health of individuals who are exposed to them, which has a detrimental effect on human well-being. We will create an air pollution monitoring system based on an IoT that uses a internet server to track the air quality online in order to keep track of everything. An alert will sound when the level of harmful gases such CO2, smoking, alcohol, benzene, and NH3 is high enough or when the air quality drops below a specified threshold. Taking a finger photo image from a smartphone can replace capturing a fingerprint from a general touch-based sensor. Typically, fingerprint recognition systems require input fingerprint images with approximately 500 dots-per-inch (dpi) resolution. Capturing a finger photo with this specific resolution has to control the distance between a finger and a smartphone camera, which is not an easy task for general users. Fingerprint recognition systems require automatically rescaling a finger photo image to 500 dpi without user interaction. This work proposes two methods to rescale an input finger photo automatically. The first method directly estimates friction ridge frequencies from finger photos and slapped fingerprint images. The second method utilizes rearranged Fourier subbands to estimate both accurate frequencies. Finally, a 500 dpi rescaling ratio can be calculated from two estimated frequencies from both fingerprint types. Experiment results show that the second method can improve matching accuracy close to the brute force approach on the four-resolution subsets of the IIIDT ISPFDv2 dataset. The source codes were made publicly available.

Working women must be protected from assault in many parts of the world. A smart ID card based on the internet of Things (IoT) could make female workers safer and be one solution to this problem. Because of the built-in sensors and connectivity components, this ID card will be able to sense and respond to its surroundings. If the sensors detect something unusual, such as a sudden movement or a loud noise, they will send a signal to the system. Following the completion of the data analysis, the system takes any necessary actions, such as sending alerts to security personnel or notifying on-call personnel. The proposed system will provide the user with access to an emergency panic button. The system's GPS component will track the user's location and send alerts to the appropriate parties. There will also be a cloud-based monitoring system with the proposed approach. This allows the employer or loved ones of the worker to track the worker's whereabouts and activities in real time. The system will analyze the data using machine learning techniques, and the results will reveal the worker's behavior and level of safety. A smart ID card linked to the internet of Things (IoT) could help women work in safer environments. The proposed technology would enable real-time monitoring, predictive alarms, and data analysis. All of these precautions will help ensure female employees' safety and avoid unpleasant situations. © 2023 IEEE.

In the context of intelligent transportation systems, license plate image reconstruction plays a pivotal role. This paper introduces a license plate image super-resolution reconstruction method, referred to as P-SRGAN, based on the foundation of SRGAN. Expanding on the foundation laid by SRGAN and incorporating insights from PatchGAN, the discriminator network is configured as a 5-layer fully convolutional neural network within our framework. This architectural decision enhances the precision of assessments, providing effective guidance to the generator in the reconstruction of images with heightened quality and finer details. Through experimentation using the Chinese City Parking Dataset (CCPD), our P-SRGAN surpasses existing high-performing super-resolution reconstruction algorithms, as evidenced by superior Peak signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) results. These findings underscore the superior quality of reconstruction achieved by P-SRGAN and its more favorable outcomes. © 2023 IEEE.

Visible light communication (VLC) is a promising solution for indoor wireless connectivity but its capacity is hindered owing to the light-emitting diodes (LEDs) bandwidth limitation. In this paper, a non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme is applied with a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technique for enhancing the achievable rate of VLC systems. As the NOMA performance is extremely affected by the power allocation technique, we evaluate, in an indoor 2x2 MIMO-VLC system based on the NOMA scheme, the performance of three efficient and low-complexity power allocation schemes: fixed power allocation (FPA), gain ratio power allocation (GRPA), normalized gain difference power allocation (NGDPA). According to the results we obtained, the system's best achievable rate was achieved using the FPA with a power allocation factor of 0.9. Moreover, the superiority of FPA over NGDPA and GRPA is clearly highlighted through our simulation results in a two-user case scenario with a sum rate enhancement of 3.7% and 18.7%, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.
