We present iARVis, a proof-of-concept toolkit for creating, experiencing, and sharing mobile AR-based information visualization environments. Over the past years, AR has emerged as a promising medium for information and data visualization beyond the physical media and the desktop, enabling interactivity and eliminating spatial limits. However, the creation of such environments remains difficult and frequently necessitates low-level programming expertise and lengthy hand encodings. We present a declarative approach for defining the augmented reality (AR) environment, including how information is automatically positioned, laid out, and interacted with, to improve the efficiency and flexibility of constructing AR-based information visualization environments. We provide fundamental layout and visual components such as the grid, rich text, images, and charts for the development of complex visualization widgets, as well as automatic targeting methods based on image and object tracking for the development of the AR environment. To increase design efficiency, we also provide features such as hot-reload and several creation levels for both novice and advanced users. We also investigate how the augmented reality-based visualization environment could persist and be shared through the internet and provide ways for storing, sharing, and restoring the environment to give a continuous and seamless experience. To demonstrate the viability and extensibility, we evaluate iARVis using a variety of use cases along with performance evaluation and expert reviews.

In this work, we propose a non-line-of-sight (NLOS) visible light positioning system based on LoRa modulation. Initially, a visible light communication (VLC) subsystem based on LoRa modulation is designed to receive the transmitter's position in NLOS links. Subsequently, leveraging the NLOS channel model and the geometric relationship between light emitting diodes (LEDs) and the virtual image of the photodetector (PD), we derive the relationship between the received signal strength and the distance from LEDs to the virtual image of the PD. Through this relationship, the trilateration method is applied to calculate the position of the receiver. Experimental results demonstrate that the average positioning errors of the system are 16.27 cm and 20.97 cm when the PD height is 60 cm and 80 cm, respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

Concealing information within smart devices during the internet of Things era presents a formidable challenge. In this study, we introduce a novel steganographic framework designed for smartphones, comprising two distinct layers. The initial layer employs an unsupervised K-means algorithm to categorize smartphone images into three clusters. images from the first two clusters are selected for the data embedding process. The clustering mechanism aids in the identification of images with the lowest likelihood of being deleted by the user. To improve data availability, two different images are employed for the embedding process. In the second layer, a linear random number is used to embed the data through an XOR operation in the two least significant bits of each channel in the RGB color model. The framework’s performance is assessed and compared to two other frameworks using metrics such as peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), embedding capacity, and mean square error (MSE). Our findings demonstrate that the proposed framework achieved higher PSNR and greater embedding capacity in comparison with the other frameworks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Parking is an integral part of driving, especially in urban areas. However, inefficient parking systems often cause drivers to spend a significant amount of time just to find a parking spot, even up to 10 hours per month in major cities like Jakarta. Besides wasting time, prolonged parking searches also increase fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. This study aims to develop smart parking application integrated with internet of Things and Computer Vision. The system uses ultrasonic sensors connected to an ESP32 microcontroller to detect real-time parking slot availability, sending status updates to Firebase. Additionally, Faster Region based Convolutional Neural Network (Faster R-CNN) and Easy OCR technologies are used to detect and identify vehicle license plates and parking slot markers, ensuring consistency between reservations and actual parking slot usage. The research findings indicate that the sensors system has the fastest measurement time of 106.3 milliseconds and data transmission time of 73.6 milliseconds. The Faster R-CNN model shows and accuracy of 86% for detecting license plates and parking slot markers, while EasyOCR achieves 100% accuracy in recognizing the characters of license plates and parking slot markers. The average total time for inference and character extraction is 2.7 seconds. This integrated approach provides significant solution for both users and parking vendor. © 2024 IEEE.

Optical coherence tomography is a non-destructive optical signal acquisition and processing method for imaging surface tissue structure. OCT has become an important and innovative corneal measurement and diagnostic technology. Propose a multi-layer detection method for ophthalmic OCT retinal images. Firstly, perform 2D Gabor filtering on the OCT image, then binarize the filtered image, and finally perform eight neighborhood contour localization. To provide reference for the quantitative analysis of the thickness of different physiological layers in the anterior segment in the clinical diagnosis and lesion assessment of ophthalmic diseases. © 2023 ACM.

Decorrelation-based OCTA is a widely used optical coherence tomography angiography method which utilizes OCT intensity information. However, cardiac and respiratory motions in animals seriously degrade image quality. This kind of bulk motion is periodic, and its C-Scan (slow scan) direction component hinders motion correction because of scan position and OCT structure’s change. Some correction methods were proposed, but vasculature information will be lost when larger bulk motion occur. Here we demonstrate a correction method which uses stitch scan protocol in C-Scan direction, and sets a threshold to the maximum value of normalized cross-correlation among repeated B-Scan intensity signal to exclude false OCT B-scans. Result of In vivo imaging experiment for mice indicates that our method can reserve whole vasculature information and effectively improve image quality. © 2023 SPIE.

With the internet of Things (IoT) being a key enabler for Industry 4.0, newer wireless communication technologies for IoT networks promise to achieve a higher communication range with lower power consumption compared to legacy communication systems like Wi-Fi. In this paper, an IIoT-based solution-CoastaL (Condition monitoring for electrical asset and Localization)-is proposed using Long Range WAN (LoRaWAN) technology and deployed in a shipyard spanning across 206 hectares for condition monitoring and localization of electrical assets. The paper presents a comprehensive comparison study of various Low Power WAN (LPWAN) technologies to determine a suitable technology for the CoastaL system. LoRaWAN is the only LPW AN technology that allows a private network implementation and does not require subscriptions while offering high range and cost efficiency as opposed to Sigfox and NB-IoT. The performance of the CoastaL system is measured as a function of receiver signal strength indicator (RSSI) which is based on the distance from the gateway. Using the collected measurement data, an empirical formula on the RSSI was formulated to estimate the signal strength of LoRaWAN devices at shipyards and similar environments. © 2022 IEEE.

To improve the accuracy of plastic recycling facilities this paper introduces an internet of Things (IoT)driven defect detection system that uses Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). Traditional techniques of fault identification are time-consuming and prone to human error, which makes plastic recycling less than ideal from an environmental sustainability perspective. To track the movement of plastics in real time, the system makes use of IoT sensors placed all throughout the recycling facility. To correctly detect plastic material flaws like contamination, discoloration, or physical damage, this data is then input into a CNNs model that has been tuned for image analysis. The proposed system outperforms conventional approaches in terms of efficiency and accuracy of flaw identification, as shown by rigorous testing. This method improves the quality and longevity of plastic recycling operations while simultaneously streamlining defect identification procedures via the use of IoT technology and CNNs. The IoT presents exciting new methods to lessen the negative effects of plastic recycling facilities on the environment while simultaneously increasing their efficiency and effectiveness, meeting the growing demand for environmentally friendly waste management solutions throughout the world. © 2024 IEEE.

Digital signal Processing (DSP) utilizes The efficient Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) Methodology that is used to alter, filter, and decode digital audio, video, and image data. FFT is used to design Electrical Circuits, to solve differential equations, to analyze signals and to process images. Distributed Arithmetic (DA) is a multiplier-less implementation technique that computes the inner dot product between two signals-fixed and varying by using shifters and adders. It takes the values in a bit-serial fashion which suits for real-time processing. The Computation Logic Blocks (CLBs) of Field Programmable Gate Anays (FPGAs) Utilize Distributed Arithmetic. FFT can be calculated using the DA method. The existing method to calculate FFT is based on complex multiplications and additions which consume time as well as power. Hence DA based FFT has been proposed in which the delay is 29.3% less and the power is 21.8% less than that of the existing method. © 2023 IEEE.
