In this study, we investigate the modeling and design of a rectangular patch antenna, which features a microstrip feed line and is specifically intended for UHF band applications. Our work provides a detailed exploration of the design process, which involved careful analysis and optimization of various antenna parameters to achieve the desired performance characteristics. One of the key findings of our study is the excellent agreement between the results obtained from the designed antenna structures and those obtained from both simulation and experimental testing. This provides a high degree of confidence in the accuracy and reliability of our design, which can be expected to perform well in real-world applications. The resonant frequency of the antenna is a crucial parameter, and our simulation and design results indicate that it is fr=2.25GHz and fr=2.26GHz, respectively. These values are consistent with our expectations, and the minor discrepancy is within the acceptable margin of error. To achieve these results, we used CST software. © 2023 IEEE.

The research presented herein provides a comprehensive analysis of a square patch antenna featuring an E slot design tailored specifically for 5G wireless communication applications. This study meticulously explores the utilization of bandwidth in facilitating effective communication within the 5G spectrum. The suggested antenna design showcases the implementation of the microstrip feeding technique, a pivotal aspect of its operational framework. Within the scope of this investigation, an array of performance parameters including antenna bandwidth, return loss, gain, voltage standing wave ratio, efficiency, and directivity are meticulously evaluated and documented. The proposed antenna configuration is characterized by a dielectric constant of 2.2, strategically chosen to optimize its performance within the intended frequency range. Operating at a frequency of 28 GHz, the antenna design is meticulously engineered utilizing an RT Duroid substrate 5880, distinguished by a height dimension of 1.5 mm. Noteworthy is the considerable bandwidth of 5.11 GHz exhibited by the proposed antenna, underscoring its efficiency in facilitating robust communication within the 5 G domain. Through comparative analysis, the study highlights the superior performance of the proposed square patch antenna when juxtaposed against prevailing methodologies. simulation activities integral to this study are conducted utilizing CST software, ensuring a rigorous evaluation and validation of the proposed design's effectiveness. The obtained parameters of the designed antenna are Gain 6.48 dBi, directivity 6.77 dB, bandwidth 5.19 GHz, return loss 27 dB and VSWR 1.09. By elucidating the comparative advantages and enhanced performance metrics of the proposed antenna configuration, this research endeavour contributes significantly to the advancement of 5G wireless communication technologies. © 2024 IEEE.

Agent-based systems are inherently distributed and parallel by a distributed memory model, but agent-based simulation is often characterised by a shared memory model. This paper discusses the challenges of and solution for large-scale distributed agent-based simulation using virtual machines. simulation of large-scale multi-agent systems with more than 10000 agents on a single processor node requires high computational times that can be far beyond the constraints set by the users, e.g., in real-time capable simulations. Parallel and distributed simulation involves the transformation of shared to a communication-based distributed memory model that can create a significant communication overhead. In this work, instead distributing an originally monolithic simulator with visualisation, a loosely coupled distributed agent process platform cluster network performing the agent processing for simulation is monitored by a visualisation and simulation control service. A typical use case of traffic simulation in smart city context is used for evaluation the performance of the proposed DSEJAMON architecture.

In contemporary smart factory systems, the customization of services through advanced technologies such as Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) and Network Slicing is essential for managing diverse applications. These technologies enable the efficient segmentation and allocation of heterogeneous resources on a shared physical infrastructure, focusing primarily on supporting low-energy services. This paper introduces the Factory Resource Optimization (FRO) framework, a novel approach that leverages MEC, Network Slicing, and a modified Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) strategy called Layered Multiple Access (LMA) to optimize resource allocation in 5G networks within smart factories. Unlike previous approaches that often focus on either energy efficiency or latency optimization, FRO tackles both simultaneously by formulating a non-convex combinatorial optimization problem. The solution involves an iterative algorithm based on a decomposition methodology, a significant departure from traditional optimization techniques. This approach allows for the efficient allocation of resources while minimizing the energy consumption of Equipment Monitoring Units (EMUs) and guaranteeing reliable and low-latency communication for Factory Safety Detectors (FSDs). simulation results demonstrate substantial energy savings for EMUs and adherence to FSD latency requirements, highlighting FRO's potential to enhance smart factory operations compared to existing methods.

Positioning systems for optical metrology applications are continuously challenged to maintain high resolution, accuracy, and repeatability over ever-expanding ranges of motion and payload masses due to the need for larger optical apertures and sensor field of regard. To address these demands, new facility capabilities have been developed for the X-Ray & Cryogenic Facility (XRCF) at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. These upgrades included re-purposing the center of curvature optical bench (CoCOB) hexapod, originally designed for James Webb Space Telescope program testing, to provide precision positioning of large test articles. To maximize the potential range of test article sizes, and ultimately the utility of the facility, studies were undertaken to evaluate the maximum payload capacity and simultaneous range of motion combinations of the CoCOB hexapod without requiring significant hardware modifications. The analytical tools developed to assess and display the possible range of motion combinations for various center of rotation locations are discussed along with the results of the study. A hexapod load study was also completed to determine maximum allowable payload mass across a wide array of possible hexapod poses. modeling was used to assess unmeasured deflections as a function of the displacement away from the hexapod's null position and the associated impact on accuracy performance. The methodologies and results of each of these studies are presented in detail. Software techniques to prevent collisions between internal hexapod geometry and avoid overtravel of both actuator stroke and end-joint angular travel ranges are also discussed.

In the contemporary cybersecurity world, effective security assessment methodologies are crucial to evaluate and enhance the security of systems, networks, applications, and data. modeling and simulation can play a vital role by offering valuable representation and analysis of attacks and defense strategies in systems where the exploitation of threats can potentially lead to catastrophic consequences. The ADVISE Meta framework goes in this direction, providing an ontology-based approach that, starting from an architectural model of the system, allows to automatically generate detailed ADVISE security models which describe the attack steps that an adversary can follow to reach the goals. However, the framework has its drawbacks, such as a limited range of attacks and adversaries, and it solely considers the attacker's viewpoint. In this work-in-progress paper, we continue the research direction started with previous works, where we proposed a methodology to extend the ontology of the ADVISE Meta framework with the attacks of the CAPEC database and the adversaries' profiles of the TAL library. The focus is on discussing the current challenges around the ADVISE Meta framework and outlying the ongoing activities and research directions.

In this paper, we propose and evaluate various order assignment strategies for a new, highly-dynamic hybrid pallet storage and retrieval system or dynamic hybrid pallet warehouse (DHPW). The research gap we fill is the identification of the order assignment strategies, which guarantees the highest performance for this new warehouse system in different operational conditions. First, we present a brief description of the system under consideration. We then go on to present a brief literature review on order assignment strategies for stackercrane-based AS/RSs and AVS/RSs. Next, we develop our concept of order assignment strategies for a DHPW with sequenced retrieval and storage, followed by a discrete event simulation and an evaluation of the concepts according to the level of performance they enable. Finally, we identify the operations of the process whose order assignment strategy has the greatest impact on performance, and suggest an optimum combination of order assignment strategies.

The research topic of the laboratory Science Pour l'Environnement (SPE) and the laboratory STELLA MARE of Universit ' e de Corse, focus on solving the environmental problems of our time. Various research teams focus their work on modeling and simulation of complex systems and behavioral modeling of species. Generally, in this modeling process (abstractions from the real world), we observe that the parameterization of the models is usually very tedious, carried out in an empirical or intuitive way based on assumptions specific to each modeler. There are also several modeling techniques which are generally parameterized intuitively and empirically. We have therefore proposed an approach to optimize the parameterization of models based on the algorithms of these models. This approach uses meta-heuristics, a class of optimization algorithms inspired by nature for which we obtain remarkable results. The use of meta-heuristics in this approach is justified by the nature of the problem to be solved. Indeed, the parameterization of models can be considered as a complex problem with a very large solution space that needs to be explored in an intelligent way. The risk of a combinatorial explosion is also very high because of the number of variables to be optimized. The advantage of this approach that we propose is that it allows an evolutive optimization of the model parameterization as the data arrives. For the validation of this approach, we used simulated data from a theoretical model. The validation of this theoretical model opens possibilities of applications on real world models.

A magnetic tunnel junction, or an MTJ, is a spintronic device of nanoscale dimensions. It is a magneto-electric device that can hold two definite resistance states according to its magnetization states. MTJs can be used as memory elements due to their non-volatile nature. They can be fabricated into chips using VLSI techniques. The main applications of MTJs include computer memory, logic, and neuromorphic computing. This work focuses on the modelling of Spin Transfer Torque and Voltage-Controlled Magnetic Anisotropy Magnetic Tunnel Junctions (STT-VCMA MTJs) using a SPICE-based simulation approach. The study incorporates thermal effects, such as temperature-dependent variations in key parameters like saturation magnetization, spin polarization, uniaxial anisotropy, and VCMA coefficient. simulations reveal the impact of these temperature-dependent parameters on the switching behavior of MTJs. The results demonstrate that incorporating thermal effects is crucial for accurately capturing the dynamic behavior of MTJs, shedding light on the temperature-sensitive aspects of their operation. This work contributes to the understanding and development of robust SPICE models for STT-VCMA MTJs, facilitating their integration into larger electronic systems and supporting the exploration of novel memory technologies.
