The increasing design complexity of System-on-Chips (SoCs) has led to significant verification challenges, particularly in meeting coverage targets within a timely manner. At present, coverage closure is heavily dependent on constrained random and coverage driven verification methodologies where the randomized stimuli are bounded to verify certain scenarios and to reach coverage goals. This process is said to be exhaustive and to consume a lot of project time. In this paper, a novel methodology is proposed to generate efficient stimuli with the help of Reinforcement Learning (RL) to reach the maximum code coverage of the Design Under Verification (DUV). Additionally, an automated framework is created using metamodeling to generate a SystemVerilog testbench and an RL environment for any given design. The proposed approach is applied to various designs and the produced results proves that the RL agent provides effective stimuli to achieve code coverage faster in comparison with baseline random simulations. Furthermore, various RL agents and reward schemes are analyzed in our work.

Thermoeconomics, an interdisciplinary field merging concepts from thermodynamics and economics, addresses complex challenges beyond the individual capacity of these sciences. Its primary applications include cost allocation, optimization, and malfunction diagnosis of energy systems. In thermoeconomic modeling, defining the productive structure is critical, and exergy is a highly appropriate thermodynamic quantity for correlating with costs. Building upon the prior investigation presented at ECOS 2023, which explored thermoeconomic cost allocation in a simultaneous heating and cooling heat pump system with an emphasis on dissipative components such as valves, this study introduces the recent A&F Model. The novelty of this work lies in applying the A&F Model, which splits physical exergy into Helmholtz energy and flow work components, within a physical-productive thermoeconomic diagram. This approach integrates physical and productive internal flows, utilizing the same physical flows presented in the flow sheet and enabling the assessment of costs for both physical and productive flows. It is crucial to note that conventional use of productive diagrams may introduce arbitrariness due to the interconnection of subsystems through productive flows and fictitious components. This study's objectives align with those of the previous research. Firstly, it presents various methods for treating and isolating the valve in thermoeconomic modeling within the context of the physical-productive diagram. Secondly, it undertakes a comparative analysis between traditional thermoeconomic methodologies using conventional physical and productive diagrams and those employing the physical-productive diagram, emphasizing the integration of the A&F Model. Finally, the study discusses the advantages and drawbacks of each methodology, offering insights for future decision-making in thermoeconomic modeling, especially concerning the choice of diagrams and the integration of the A&F Model. Based on its successful applications across various industries, digital twin technology serves as a virtual bridge connecting physical entities in the real world with their digital models, demonstrating significant potential in the medical field. This paper first introduces the fundamental elements and technical architecture of digital twins, including key technologies such as modeling, simulation, cloud computing and big data, and artificial intelligence. Subsequently, it explores the diverse applications of digital twins in medicine, such as real-time data monitoring, assisting in diagnosis and treatment, and the development of medical devices. Additionally, the paper analyzes the challenges faced in the application of digital twin technology in medicine, including data privacy and security, technological maturity, technology dissemination, and cost issues. Virtual Reality (VR) technologies enable strong emotions compared to traditional media, stimulating the brain in ways comparable to real-life interactions. This makes VR systems promising for research and applications in training or rehabilitation, to imitate realistic situations. Nonetheless, the evaluation of the user experience in immersive environments is daunting, the richness of the media presents challenges to synchronise context with behavioural metrics in order to provide fine-grained personalised feedback or performance evaluation. The variety of scenarios and interaction modalities multiplies this difficulty of user understanding in face of lifelike training scenarios, complex interactions, and rich context. We propose a task-based methodology that provides fine-grained descriptions and analyses of the experiential user experience (UX) in VR that (1) aligns low-level tasks (i.e. take an object, go somewhere) with multivariate behaviour metrics: gaze, motion, skin conductance, (2) defines performance components (i.e., attention, decision, and efficiency) with baseline values to evaluate task performance, and (3) characterises task performance with multivariate user behaviour data. To illustrate our approach, we apply the task-based methodology to an existing dataset from a road crossing study in VR. We find that the task-based methodology allows us to better observe the experiential UX by highlighting fine-grained relations between behaviour profiles and task performance, opening pathways to personalised feedback and experiences in future VR applications.

Neuromorphic computing is of worldwide interest. Compared to the von Neumann's computer architecture, neuromorphic systems offer advantages and novel approaches for artificial intelligence problems to be solved. Inspired by biology, neuromorphic systems adopt the theory of the human brain modeling by implementing neurons and synapses with the help electronic devices and circuits. Many researchers developed new algorithms, learning approaches, models, etc., implement them into hardware to explore the neuromorphic system. However, many of the promising approaches concentrate on the realization not taking into account the feasibility for industrial or consumer application of the various concepts. Here, simulation and modeling methodologies are discussed with a bench of examples of different applications from well know domains, e.g. MEMS, IC, etc. An overview is given where and when the different approaches/methodologies makes sense, starting from scratch towards predictive simulations for detailed analysis and the needs for realization in mass production. Afterwards, discussion is continued towards neuromorphic computing systems. In this paper we would like to draw the attention of the reader why it makes sense to use the support of such methods and why it is so important to push the development of simulation and modeling for neuromorphic computing systems.

Building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) systems are a crucial component of the transition to a low-carbon energy system. However, current simplified models of PV cells and modules used in building and urban energy simulations may not accurately capture the performance of various PV technologies under partial shading conditions. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for modeling parametric BIPV arrays using a high-resolution irradiance grid and a power model that operates from the evaluation of IV-curves at the cell level to the AC to DC conversion in the inverter. This allows us to combine PV modules of varying sizes and electrical configurations based on the selected inverter type, and to capture the operative benefits of multiple types of cell technologies, module designs, and electrical layouts in building-based PV applications. We evaluate the proposed framework by comparing its performance to measurement data and to three other frameworks found in the literature through the simulation of two BIPV fagades and a tilted rooftop array. The results show that the proposed framework is necessary to account for partial shading (if present) as well as provide operative details when the type of inverter to be used is in question. Overall, this paper presents a novel framework for modeling the performance of PV cells and modules in building and urban energy simulations, which has significant implications for the design and optimization of building-based PV systems. © (2023) by ECOS 2023 All rights reserved.

This book chapter presents SwarmFabSim, an open-source simulation framework using NetLogo for agent-based simulation of a semiconductor production plant organized by the job-shop principle. It models the plant as a self-organizing system using swarm intelligence algorithms for bottom-up optimization. The model is composed of a set of agents, which includes machines, workcenters, lots, and processes. While the general model is not restricted to a particular programming language, SwarmFabSim and the presented case studies are implemented in NetLogo, one of the most widely used agent-based simulation platforms. SwarmFabSim consists of a structured system of code modules using a callback architecture, allowing to easily modify or exchange the swarm algorithm under investigation. Users can configure their fab model and simulations via the user interface and configuration files. The results are presented to the user via log files that include detailed results as well as overall key performance indicators: makespan, average flow factor, and lot tardiness. SwarmFabSim (running on NetLogo version 6.1 or later), including sample swarm algorithms and configuration files is available as an open-source project on GitHub. Additionally to the framework SwarmFabSim, we present a detailed case study of two algorithms for fab optimization. Together with the algorithms, we describe three different fab setups in SwarmFabSim and demonstrate how to use the framework for their evaluation. In this paper an attempt has been made to apply multiple cavity modeling technique to analyze the crosstalk. Crosstalk is a significant issue for many applications such as mobile communication, RADAR communication and satellite communication. This paper presents crosstalk analysis at faulty wave guide joint over the frequency range 12GHz to 18GHz. Numerical data obtained from MCMT analysis have been compared and verified with CST microwave studio simulated data. The result shows excellent matching between theory and simulation. © 2022 IEEE.

A new course for distance learning in imitation modelling is presented. The course includes theoretical lessons and a set of practical tasks. To consolidate the material, tests are offered after lectures. The practical tasks are step-by-step programming of charged particle fluxes scattering in inhomogeneous multilayer media. The programming language is MatLab. As a result of performing all these tasks, students get a simulation model of interaction of particles with solid that could be applied to real scientific research. Student of MPEI have already studied this course and some of them went on scientific research in the field of particle interaction with solid. © 2022 IEEE.
