Gaps in current numerical models highlight challenges in accurately simulating photovoltaic (PV) systems, particularly their sensitivity to weather forecast outputs and the impact of environmental factors such as wind speed and humidity. These factors introduce discrepancies between simulated and real-life PV system performance. This study investigates the potential of open-source PV physical models, leveraging pvlib-python, to address these challenges. The research focuses on enhancing the accuracy of these models to generate synthetic data that closely replicate real-world conditions. Using the single diode equation implemented in pvlib-python, DC power production data from a real-life PV module is simulated, with initial discrepancies identified and mitigated through the integration of Huld model. This integration aims to improve the accuracy of synthetic data, thereby bridging the gap between simulated and actual performance metrics. The efficacy of the enhanced predictive models is evaluated using historical field measurements from a PV system testbed, demonstrating advancements in simulating PV system behaviors with enhanced accuracy and reliability. The results unveil a significant enhancement in synthetic data generation using PVLib and Huld model. © 2024 IEEE.

The small signal modeling analysis and simulation in closed loop for the non-isolated high voltage gain converter are presented in this study. The operating point of power converter can be found with the use of the DC-DC converter's small signal analysis. The small signal analysis is explained in detail and it is used to calculate the various transfer functions relating input and output variables. A PI controller is used to regulate the converter's output in presence of load disturbance based on proportional integral (PI) control strategy. The simulation results for closed loop control are shown for a gain of approximately ten times. The effectiveness of the controller is also depicted by the simulation results showing servo and regulatory performances

In contrast to the conventional automobiles powered by internal combustion engines burning fossil fuels, electric vehicles have drawn increased attention. Future sustainable transportation is a goal for the auto industry. In an electric car, the electric motor is crucial. Most motors used in automotive applications include AC motors, DC motors, and reluctance motors. However, BLDC motors are best suited due to their high levels of dependability, power density, efficiency, affordability, lightness, and reduced maintenance need as a result of the lack of brushes. With in-wheel technology, each electric vehicle (EV) wheel is operated by a separate motor as opposed to a central drive system. In order to analyze power flow during motoring and regeneration. This work uses the MATLABSimulink platform to present a simulation model of a completely electric automobile. The drive train components include motor, battery, motor controller, BMS, and auxiliary loads. The range of an electrical vehicle is increased by using solar photovoltaic (PV) electricity to aid auxiliary loads, which is represented using their mathematical equations. Plots and discussions are made of all simulation outcomes. To calculate the energy flow and drive performance, the torque and speed circumstances during motoring and regeneration were used. The basis for future research and development will be this study. © 2022 IEEE.

Ultrasound transducers have diverse applications in medical imaging, consumer electronics, and automotive industries, offering advantages such as non-invasive medical imaging, reliable and non-mechanical transduction of input signals. Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) based ultrasound transducer solutions, including Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasound Transducer (PMUT) and Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasound Transducer (CMUT) devices, exhibit superior performance compared to traditional piezo-ceramic based solutions due to their low cost, compact design, high efficiency and wideband operation capability, furthermore monolithic integration with electronics is possible. However, the development of these cutting-edge technologies requires sophisticated simulation tools to understand and manipulate the underlying ultrasound physics, which is essential for engineering applications. The newly developed simulation methodology will be utilized to model three-dimensional arrays of CMUT and PMUT cells. simulations are performed on cutting-edge designs of Infineon-developed chips using the Quanscient Allsolve software. The results obtained through resonance frequency measurements on PMUT devices and CMUT devices will be evaluated and compared with the simulation results obtained using the presented methodology. Additional capabilities on building ultrasound simulation models with multiphysics is elaborated in this work and demonstrated. Projections for further development in the simulation environment are also presented.

This research explores the integration of clock gating techniques to enhance the performance of the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) protocol commonly used in embedded systems. This approach involves selectively disabling the clock signal during idle states of the blocks, resulting in significant reductions in power consumption while maintaining high-speed and reliable data transfer. Through extensive simulations and experimental validations, our study demonstrates the efficiency of the proposed clock gating strategy in achieving a balance between power consumption and communication speed. This research not only benefits SPI applications but also serves as a model for optimizing other communication protocols. The results presented in this paper offer valuable insights into implementation challenges and considerations associated with integrating clock gating into the SPI protocol, paving the way for further advancements in power-aware design methodologies.

A versatile scheme for design of planar ultra-wideband impedance transformer is proposed by using fragment-type structures (FTS) for modeling and MOEA/D-GO for optimization. To improve the optimization efficiency, non-uniform FTS cells are applied. To find the optimal planar FTS transformer, two objective functions characterizing the return loss and the insertion loss of the impedance transformer, respectively, are defined on a ultra-wide bandwidth. For demonstration, a 25-ohm to 50-ohm FTS impedance transformer is designed, which acquires reflection coefficient lower than -20 dB and extra insertion loss less than 0.27 dB in ultra-wide frequency band of 0.89-5.00 GHz. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Mathematical models are used to study and predict the behavior of a variety of complex systems - engineering, physical, economic, social, environmental. Sensitivity studies are nowadays applied to some of the most complicated mathematical models from various intensively developing areas of applications. Sensitivity analysis is a modern promising technique for studying large-scale systems such as ecological systems. The uncertainty in the model input in our case, as in many others, can be due to various reasons: inaccurate measurements or calculation, approximation, data compression, etc. Two kinds of sensitivity analysis have been discussed in the literature: local and global. In the current paper the subject of our study is the global sensitivity analysis performed via the Sobol’ variance-based approach, applied to a specific large-scale air pollution model. The mathematical treatment of the problem of providing global sensitivity analysis consists in evaluating total sensitivity indices which leads to computing multidimensional integrals. We propose a new specific stochastic approach which significantly improves the results by the standard stochastic approaches. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this study , the reasearch is focused on the simulation of vehicular communication networks, especially intelligent traffic systems, to enhance dependability, safety, and optimality in communication. The simulation is performed using the OMNeT++ simulator and is integrated with the Veins framework that uses the IEEE 802.11p protocol for V2V and V2I communications. Importing real-world traffic scenarios into the framework is obtained via the use of SUMO through TraCIScenarioManager. Other features of the framework include the definition of mobility models, dynamic obstacles, and detailed radio propagation modeling. TraCIDemo11p is used for mobility and communication by both RSUs and vehicles with applications in beaconing and channel switching. The whole framework analyzes smart traffic management solutions, providing as much insight into their performance based upon the communication reliability and overall efficiency in vehicular networks.

The article presents a method of integrating control systems in heat and power applications with distributed parameters using matrix polynomial models. They speak about the consideration of complex phenomena such as heat exchange and conduction for introducing the improvement in control. It also allows achieving better modeling of the system's behavior while maintaining stability and minimizing transients. The work also builds the approach converting systems of equations into matrix polynomial ones that helps perform computational analysis and synthesis of controllers. By simulation modeling, the efficiency of this method is proved, showing that it is equally suitable to cope with external interferences as well as increase the degree of control precision. The consequences of the study suggest that matrix polynomial models will enhance the effective control of thermal power facilities as it minimizes energy losses.

Vision-based applications such as traffic management, public area surveillance, and environmental monitoring require clear and accurate visual data from cameras to provide better services to people. But foggy weather and traffic pollution causes haze, dust, or smog to degrade image quality, and reduce visibility of the target area, and becomes a challenge to the reliability of the automated application in urban areas. They face some additional problems such as color distortion, non-uniform illumination, low light, and dense or nonhomogeneous haze. The learning-based methods outperform traditional image dehazing methods in complex real-world problems and utilize large image datasets, despite their notable performance, learning-based models can have high computation and may require wide-ranging training datasets. This paper discussed prior-based and deep learning-based image dehazing models to test the RESIDE dataset with indoor and outdoor hazy images. Further, objective evaluation metrics have been discussed that are being used to evaluate the quality of state-of-the-art methods. These methodologies help us to set up vision-based applications for smart cities and have shown great potential to enhance image quality affected by haze and low light.
