This paper explores the use of immersive technologies, namely Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), to mitigate speaking anxiety and enhance communication skills. Speaking anxiety is a prevalent issue that hinders effective communication in personal and professional environments. The research aims to (1) assess the effectiveness of AR and VR in reducing speaking anxiety and (2) propose an immersive tech model for improving confidence and speaking abilities. The study involved hundred participants from a multi-sector state private university in Odisha, India who completed VR-based speech simulations and were evaluated on six parameters: speech duration, eye contact, filler words, speaking pace, volume and listen ability. Survey and workshop methodologies were used in the study. The findings showed significant improvement in confidence and reductions in anxiety and filler word usage. Moderate improvements in eye contact and gestures suggested room for further development. The study proposes an immersive tech model integrating VR for real-time feedback and AR for audience simulation, offering promising applications in speaking training, language acquisition and professional skill enhancement.

The growing demand for high-performance lithium-ion batteries in applications including power tools, grid storage, and electric vehicles calls for the creation of precise and trustworthy models for battery simulation and characterization. It emphasizes the need for precise models to simulate and characterize battery behavior. In this paper a comprehensive approach using a Three-Resistor-Capacitor (3-RC) equivalent circuit model to simulate lithium-ion batteries, focusing on their electrochemical charge/discharge mechanisms is presented. During a series of 31A discharge pulses, the cell potential decreases as the SOC started declining. The model effectively replicates capacity degradation, efficiency losses, and thermal management, contributing to safer, more durable, and efficient battery systems. The simulation successfully tracks open-circuit voltage (OCV) decline and replicates nine discharge pulses, demonstrating its accuracy in capturing system dynamics. The streamlined approach of the equivalent circuit model makes it an excellent choice when developing both control algorithms and system-level models. This simulation framework developed is an approach to optimize Li-ion battery management systems and to find means of advancement of future Li-ion technologies.

This research explores the advantages of utilizing Virtual Reality (VR) for visualizing architectural models of college environments with significantly enhanced detail, both exterior and interior. VR technology allows for the immediate identification and correction of errors, facilitating rapid and efficient updates. Unlike traditional methods, which require redrawing entire blueprints for minor changes, VR’s layered structure permits individual modifications without impacting the whole model. Leveraging the Unity game engine, multiple architects can collaborate seamlessly, working together with clients to develop a satisfactory and detailed VR model of the building. This approach not only improves design accuracy but also enhances collaborative efforts, demonstrating the substantial benefits of VR in modern architectural practices.

The article focuses on the importance of cybersecurity in the energy sector, emphasizing the risks associated with the integration of technologies into energy infrastructures. The authors point out the increasing number of cyber-attacks and vulnerabilities faced by infrastructure networks, especially in the context of the growing number of connected systems and the proliferation of the Internet of Things. A modern method of accessing and using computer resources on the Internet is through the usage of cloud computing. Contrary to the conventional Internet, there are certain security concerns and vulnerabilities related to confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Most of the current trust management system models do not fully account for the relevance of interactions, which hinders the accuracy of the trust ratings and needs to be fixed. In this paper, Trust based reputation framework for data center security in cloud computing environment is proposed. In this framework, each DCs reputation values are determined independently from the trust degrees of its servers. The level of each server's trust is computed based on the Interaction Efficiency (IE), Service Satisfaction Index (SSI) and Service Response Delay (SRD). During the transmission from DC to user, the user evaluates the reputation of the serving DC and ignores if the reputation is low. simulation results using Cloudsim indicate that the proposed TRF-DCS has lower computation cost and service access delay with higher correctness of data and service success rate.

Drop test durability has been a major concern for devices widely used in mobile applications. JEDEC standard is introduced to characterize IC package drop performance such that a consumer product manufacturer could have a readily available benchmark to assess reliability of components from different suppliers under the same test conditions. At first explicit solvers were extensively used to tackle the free fall problem due to its transient and dynamic nature. They were soon simplified to Input-G method to avoid complexity in modeling contact event. Still their inherent poor numerical stability during simulation has limited its application to drop events with small to medium size unless the analysis utilizes very fine time incremental steps, which, in turn, is time consuming. In addition, many component suppliers usually do not have such software. Therefore, implicit solver has recently been employed to simulate board level drop test. Its limitation lies with its connate incompatibility with the direct application of the base acceleration profile but can be overcome by additional treatment of the boundary conditions. This paper investigates the simulation methodologies of JEDEC board level drop test using implicit solver. It demonstrates that both Direct Acceleration Input (DAI) method and Large Mass Method (LMM) could be used to model the current industrial specified drop test, which is a moderate transient process, but the latter is a better option as it captures the real response of the package assembly under test. Actual drop tests were carried out and compared with simulation predictions, they are found in good agreement. Further examination of the current common industrial practice raises concerns about the accuracy of its data collection and interpretation of JEDEC board level drop test results. Possible solutions are offered for improvement of board design and data analysis.

In the context of preventive conservation it is desired to fullfill temperature and humidity constraints to extend the lifetime of cultural assets. This paper proposes a simple model predictive control strategy to control the indoor air temperature and indoor air humidity, taking conservational constraints into account. Suitable linear black box models are identified using a building model within the EnergyPlus building energy simulation program. In the next step, a co-simulation between EnergyPlus and MATLAB is utilized to assess the control system performance. The proposed method is able to control the temperature and humidity within the specified limits unlike conventional indoor climate control strategies.

Among other requirements, in the field of modeling and simulation there is a need to build and run (co-) simulation models on-demand. Setting up, orchestrating and executing simulations should be easy, while additional features such as interaction interfaces open up a variety of applications. Being able to connect external components seamlessly to a running simulation allows for elaborate experiments. This paper describes the architecture and design of a simulation platform that is a part of a broader platform enabling evaluations of future mobility scenarios. Apache's Kafka platform for big data stream processing is used as a communication base in order to enable all these requirements, as well as for the coupling of different simulation tools forming a co-simulation. We give an overview of existing works regarding modeling and simulation as a Service, before explaining our own approach. Therefore, the architecture, the interfaces, and the workflow of a simulation run is described. The approach is illustrated by a case study, which is used to measure the service's overhead.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in automobile crash simulations is one of the important steps toward making cars safer and engineering more impeccable. The paper focuses on applying AI techniques, Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), toward rendering the crash simulation process more efficient, accurate, and predictive. Traditional methods of crash simulation are heavily dependent on Finite Element Analysis (FEA), which, though effective, could turn time-consuming and, at the same time, very computationally expensive. AI-driven approaches offer a very promising avenue of research into large datasets for predicting the outcomes of crashes, material property optimization, and vehicle design improvement. Some of the critical methodologies focused on the present research relate to the development and training of AI models based on real-world crash data and high-fidelity simulation results. Further, the reduction cycle time and associated cost of development testing for crashworthiness purposes with the aid of AI has been discussed. Results show that AI has immense potential for enhancing the strength and reliability of crash simulations and therefore bringing about safe, efficient automobile designs. Future research directions will also see a combination of AI and real-time data from sensor-equipped vehicles in a bid to provide adaptive safety systems, further improving autonomous vehicle technology.

Due to their inherent capacity to convert solar energy to electrical energy, photovoltaic systems are considered as one of the most promising developing technologies which are gaining a lot of attention these days. In this paper, we propose a novel feedback approach to control the position of two Direct Current servomotors mounted in a solar energy system. Unlike the classical feedback controller, this strategy can handle both of linear and nonlinear models and it is very suitable for underac-tuated systems. The concept of the investigated method consists on dividing the system into individual subsystems and designing a virtual input for each one. Since this strategy processes in iterative algorithm, general formulation is established to provide a standard modeling that can be applied with any order of systems. simulation results have demontrated the efficiency of the investigated controller in terms of convergence towards the desired references with minimal tracking errors. © 2022 IEEE.
