With the evolution of communication systems and their methodologies, the significance of designing various types of antennae has increased to suit the different necessities. While some antennas, especially the substrate-integrated antennas are hard to optimize, the microstrip patch antennas are easy to design and optimize. Besides, providing an economic advantage, it also delivers higher efficiencies in terms of radiation and gain, making it appropriate for communication-based applications. The concerned work proposes a psi-shaped optimized antenna that is capable of scanning and receiving the 2.4 GHz resonant frequency for applications like radio-frequency (RF) energy harvester systems (RFEHS), radio-frequency identification (RFID) and wireless local area network (WLAN) communications. The structure has been tested with an inset feeding technique and the substrate used is arlon with differential conductor and cover layer elements. The entire design and simulation have been carried out in advanced design system (ADS) layout and momentum microwave electromagnetic (EM) mode. The designed psi-shaped antenna is able to produce a maximum gain of 5.47 dBi with a radiation efficiency of 70.39%, making it suitable for the aforesaid applications. A software-based prototype simulation has also been carried out to find the effectiveness of the proposed antenna.

This paper is devoted to the study and development of a model and algorithm for data distribution in the microservice architecture of a web application, considering the possible inoperability of some services. The research focuses on enhancing the performance of load balancers by considering key parameters such as request intensity, system capacity, and reliability. A mathematical model is formulated using queuing theory and Erlang's formulas to define the optimal function for data distribution. The study proposes an improved algorithm for dynamic load balancing that actively monitors microservice performance, reducing bottlenecks and increasing processing efficiency. simulation results demonstrate a significant improvement in the output flow of serviced data messages, increasing throughput by 15.25% compared to conventional load balancing methods. The proposed approach enables efficient utilization of system resources, enhances fault tolerance, and improves request execution speeds in microservice-based web applications. These findings highlight the importance of adaptive data distribution mechanisms in high-load environments, ensuring reliability and scalability for modern banking and financial services applications.

Edge computing is a mesh network of micro data centers, capable of processing and storing critical data locally, and of transmitting all data received and / or processed to a central data center or to a cloud storage repository. With this paradigm, data, applications and computational services are brought from the cloud servers to the margins of the network. To divide their computational power, virtual hosts are distributed within a single physical host through virtualization. One of the virtualization techniques that is spreading is containerized programming. In this paper, the concepts just mentioned will be applied to a use case, to ensuring continuity of service to vehicles traveling on a fast-moving road and which are managed by Edge technology. Two handover algorithms supported by microservices at Edge are proposed and performance assessed.

This article introduces a framework to integrate Business Process Management and simulation to e-Health solutions in the context of dehospitalization. Assistive technologies clearly have a direct and positive impact on the quality of life of patients, but they also improve the overall management of the organizational processes. In the framework of business process analysis, we introduce televisiting and telemedicine applications. In particular, we define modeling and simulation of hospital services as a base to investigate the role of technological innovations in order to explore the positive impact both on patient well-being as well as on business process management perspective.

In this paper, we introduce a novel nonlinear averaged model to be used in the analysis of systems with multiple components that include a flyback converter operated under peak current mode control (PCMC). Most traditional approaches often use linear models that are not suitable for capturing the transient behavior needed in applications with time scales several orders of magnitude above the switching frequency. We address these limitations by incorporating the dynamic behavior using a nonlinear model that significantly improves the accuracy of existing linear models while being general enough to be used with standard numerical integration methods. In addition to the detailed analytical derivation, both simulation and experimental validation demonstrate the efficacy of our model in a study case with an RC parallel load. The application presented promises to offer considerable benefits in terms of computational efficiency for dynamic analysis in a wide range of applications.

This study assesses the performance of different cross-validation splits for brain-signal-based Auditory Attention Decoding (AAD) using deep neural networks on three publicly available Electroencephalography datasets. We investigate the effect of trial-specific knowledge during training and assess adaptability to diverse scenarios with a trial-independent split. Introducing a causal time-series split, and simulating online decoding, our results demonstrate a consistent performance increase for auditory attention classification. These positive outcomes provide valuable insights for the development of future brain-signal-based AAD systems, emphasizing the potential for practical, person-dependent AAD applications. The results highlight the importance of diverse evaluation methodologies for enhancing generalizability in developing effective neurofeedback systems and assistive technologies for auditory processing disorders under more real-life conditions.

In this paper, the Shoreline Alert Model (SAM) is presented as a component of a computation platform based on workflows dedicated to extreme weather/marine event simulation. The model aims to mitigate the effects of global change by providing decision-makers, scientists, and engineers with a novel, next-generation tool set for facing extreme weather events and implementing related management or emergency responses. SAM uses a parallelization schema, allowing users to run it on heterogeneous parallel architectures. As a result, SAM produces approximately 24 times faster results than the baseline when using shared memory with distributed memory and dealing with about 20,000 transects along the Campania coastline. The system is based on the algorithms of the open-source numerical models WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) and WW3 (Wave-watch III) implemented with refraction and shoaling routines together with run-up equations to form the modeling chain used for coastal flooding assessment. © 2023 IEEE.

The exponential rise of digital material calls for the development of more sophisticated approaches to the formation of topics that guarantee semantic richness, diversity, and scalability within the content. This research introduces an innovative pipeline employing the pre-trained Generative Pre-trained Transformer 2 (GPT-2) model to tackle issues related to topic coherence, redundancy, and the effective processing of extensive textual datasets to integrates text segmentation, novelty filtration, and semantic coherence enhancement. Text chunking facilitates the processing of extensive datasets by partitioning information into manageable chunks, whereas novelty filtering utilizes Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) vectorization and cosine similarity measures to remove redundancy. Experiments on a news dataset illustrated the pipeline's efficacy, with filtered GPT-2 outputs attaining higher coherence scores (0.85) than raw GPT-2 (0.75) and conventional approaches such as Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) (0.45). Chunking was essential for sustaining scalability, with an ideal size of 800 tokens achieving a compromise between computational efficiency and precision. The methodology substantially surpassed traditional methodologies in producing distinctive, contextually relevant themes, rendering it appropriate for applications including content analysis, document organization, and knowledge discovery. Future endeavors will concentrate on optimizing for domain-specific datasets, multilingual applications, and minimizing computational overhead to improve adaptability and efficiency.

Health and activity monitoring can now be done remotely using sensor networks attached to the wearer’s body. Consequently, body-wearable sensor networks provide for a customized approach to health and fitness. The spread of the wearable gadgets increases the variety of their applications. There are numerous technologies that enable the capture of movement; among them, accelerometers are the most frequently cited by researchers. In this paper, a novel micromachined MEMS tri-axis accelerometer device is proposed with two sensing principles which can simultaneously measure acceleration inputs along X, Y and Z directions is proposed. The proposed MEMS accelerometer utilizes capacitive plates and a diaphragm to sense acceleration inputs along X and Y directions and piezoresistive effect to sense acceleration along Z axis. The working principle and sensor features like range, sensitivity, frequency response of the three-axis MEMS accelerometer are analyzed. Accelerometers have been used in biomedical applications such as human motion analysis, motion detection vibration, and impact studies. COMSOL Multiphysics simulation software is used for modeling and analysis of novel MEMS accelerometer.
