This research paper presents the design and simulation of Multiple Path Fully Operational Transconductance Amplifiers (OTAs) with Dual Flipped Voltage Follower, targeted for VLSI-based signal processing applications. Leveraging 50nm CMOS technology and Cadence tools, the proposed OTA architecture offers enhanced performance and versatility in signal processing tasks. The design incorporates multiple paths for signal processing, enabling improved bandwidth, gain, and linearity while minimizing common-mode noise. The inclusion of Dual Flipped Voltage Follower enhances the OTA's stability and dynamic range, ensuring reliable operation in high-speed VLSI systems. Through extensive simulation studies, the paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed OTA design in meeting the stringent requirements of modern signal processing applications. This research contributes to the advancement of VLSI design methodologies, offering a promising solution for high-performance signal processing tasks in nanoscale CMOS technologies. The simulation results from the cadence tool shows the effectiveness of the methodology that is being presented in this research article.

Smart sensors in smart grids (SG) can provide real-time data and status of electrical power grids (EPG) for monitoring, protection, and control (MPC) applications to improve the reliability and resilience of EPG. However, there are major challenges for smart sensor data interoperability in SG, such as optional functions and implementations based on different interpretations of the standard. Interoperability modeling, testing and certification, and measurement and assessment methodologies help achieve and assure interoperability. This paper proposes a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation-based interoperability testing method for smart sensors in the closed-loop MPC use cases of EPG. In this testing method, a smart sensor, as hardware or device under test (DUT), is plugged into the closed-loop MPC application simulation of EPG to test its interoperability with the rest of the simulation system. A HIL simulation-based interoperability test case of IEC 61850-9-2 merging unit (MU)based smart sensor is used to illustrate how the testing method works. This testing method not only tests how to exchange information between an MU-based smart sensor and the simulated protective relay (PR) but also tests how the PR can use the information from the smart sensor for MPC applications. Smart sensor users and manufacturers can use this testing method to develop testing systems to help achieve interoperability and, ultimately, plug-and-play of smart sensors.

The Fully-Depleted Silicon On Insulator (FDSOI) technologies are deployed for a wide range of applications (digital, analog, RF, etc.) requiring a large variety of MOS transistors. These transistors are defined by several dedicated specificities such as their threshold voltage or their gate oxide thickness. Usually, the surface potential (SP) based compact model of FDSOI MOSFET supposes an undoped channel with metal gate in front and back contact [1-3]. These models are not sufficiently accurate for real devices;thus, in the modern compact models [1-3], a lot of parasitic effects must be included such as the substrate depletion. This paper describes the recent improvements of L-UTSOI standard model, with the introduction of the poly-depletion effect and an enhanced model of the substrate doping effects. These model extensions are validated against silicon experimental data and available in the latest official model release.

The required greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction in the maritime sector is leading to the development of green alternative technologies. Fuel cells, particularly HT PEMFCs (High Temperature Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells), are gaining more attention as they can be coupled with methanol reforming to avoid hydrogen onboard storage issues. This promising system comprises a methanol-fueled reformer that generates a hydrogen-rich syngas as fuel for the cell. This paper details an experimental study conducted on an HT PEM fuel cell, which allowed to fine-tune a model of the plant using DWSIM open-source simulation software. The tested unit consisted of a 5-kW HT PEM stack developed by ADVENT®. For the experimental campaign, the fuel cell was linked with a battery simulator and an electronic load to replicate real-life applications. Additionally, thermocouples and flow meters were utilized to monitor the working temperatures and fuel/air flows. Aiming at the system scale-up, the model allowed its feasibility analysis as primary propulsion power source for a devoted case-study on a small sailing boat.

Studies in malaria control cover many areas such as medicine, sociology, biology, mathematics, physics, computer science and so forth. Researches in the realm of mathematics are conducted to predict the occurrence of the disease and to support the eradication process. Basically, the modeling methodology is predominantly deterministic and based on differential equations which take into account important clinical and biological features. Yet, if the individual characteristics matter when modeling the disease, the overall estimation of the epidemic evolution relies on a non-specified percentage of the global population : it is not based on the state of health of each individual. The goal of this paper is to propose a model that relies on a daily evolution of the individual's state, which depends on their mobility and the characteristics of the area they visit. Thus, the mobility data of a single person moving from one area to another, gathered thanks to mobile networks, is the essential building block to predict the disease outcome. We implement our solution and demonstrate its effectiveness through empirical experiments. The results show how promising the model is in providing possible insights into the failure of the disease control in the Kedougou region.

With the development of electronic packaging technology in 5G era, System-in-Package (SiP) module is developing into smaller size and higher integration to realize the multi-functional applications, and the reliability of SiP module, especially the interfacial delamination has become one of the most concerned issues. To predict interfacial delamination precisely through modeling and simulation methodologies, accurate warpage of SiP module should be calculated accordingly since warpage deformation is one of the main reasons of interface delamination. For plastic packaged devices, like most SiP modules, coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) mismatch between epoxy molding compound (EMC) and its adjacent materials will lead to warpage during the process of transfer molding and post-mold cure of EMC. In addition to this, another important reason of warpage is the chemical shrinkage of EMC during curing process. In this work, a method of characterizing cure shrinkage of EMC was proposed by using bi-material test method. The cure shrinkage rate of EMC was calculated combining the simulation methods and the warpage test results, which was applied in optimizing the SiP module warpage simulation during reflow process. Furthermore, the effect of viscoelasticity of EMC on SiP module warpage was also investigated in this work.

Homogeneity problem for basis expansion of functional data with applications to resistive memories

The homogeneity problem for testing if more than two different samples come from the same population is considered for the case of functional data. The methodological results are motivated by the study of homogeneity of electronic devices fabricated by different materials and active layer thicknesses. In the case of normality distribution of the stochastic processes associated with each sample, this problem is known as Functional ANOVA problem and is reduced to test the equality of the mean group functions (FANOVA). The problem is that the current/voltage curves associated with Resistive Random Access Memories (RRAM) are not generated by a Gaussian process so that a different approach is necessary for testing homogeneity. To solve this problem two different parametric and nonparametric approaches based on basis expansion of the sample curves are proposed. The first consists of testing multivariate homogeneity tests on a vector of basis coefficients of the sample curves. The second is based on dimension reduction by using functional principal component analysis of the sample curves (FPCA) and testing multivariate homogeneity on a vector of principal components scores. Different approximation numerical techniques are employed to adapt the experimental data for the statistical study. An extensive simulation study is developed for analyzing the performance of both approaches in the parametric and non-parametric cases. Finally, the proposed methodologies are applied on three samples of experimental reset curves measured in three different RRAM technologies. In this research we present a novel method for place recognition that relies on optical flow fingerprints of features. We make no assumptions about the properties of features or the environment such as color, shape, and size, as we approach the problem parsimoniously with a single camera mounted on a robot. In the training phase of our algorithm an accurate camera model is utilized to model and simulate the optical flow vector magnitudes with respect to velocity and distance to features. A lognormal distribution function, that is the result of this observation, is used as an input during the testing phase that is taking place with real sensors and features extracted using Lucas-Kanade optical flow algorithm. With this approach we have managed to bridge the gap between simulation and real-world environments by transferring the output of simulated training data sets to real testing environments. In addition, our method is highly adaptable to different types of sensors and environments. Our algorithm is evaluated both in indoor and outdoor environments where a robot revisits places from different poses and velocities demonstrating that modeling an unknown environment using optical flow properties is feasible yet efficient.

Earth system models (ESM) are computer models that quantitatively simulate the Earth’s climate system. These models are the basis of modern research on climate change and its effects on our planet. Advances in computational technologies and simulation methodologies have enabled ESM to produce simulation outputs at a finer level of detail, which is important for policy planning and research at the regional level. As ESM is a complex incorporation of different physical domains and environmental variables, computational costs for conducting simulations at a finer resolution are prohibitively expensive. In practice, the simulation at the coarser level is mapped onto the regional level by the process of ‘‘downscaling’’. In this presents a self-supervised deep-learning solution for climate downscaling that does not require high-resolution ground truth data during the model training process. We introduce a self-supervised convolutional neural network (CNN) super-resolution model that trains on a single data instance at a time and can adapt to its underlying data patterns at runtime. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model consistently improves the climate downscaling performance over the widely used baselines by a large margin.

Most people, particularly those above the age of 65, are vulnerable to serious injury as a result of fall. Usually, falls go unreported and are dismissed as an unavoidable occurrence. In elderly adults, a variety of wearable fall detection systems have now been developed. The majority of these gadgets, however, rely on regional information processors. Wearable technologies employ a variety of methods to detect fall on real time;it emphases fall detection vfuzzification, Java Fuzzy modeling Language (JFML), and service-oriented architecture, and is based on IEEE 1855-2016. Furthermore, to avoid such mishaps, multiple methodologies were employed that identify a fall employing machine learning algorithms and human movement location information. Wearable acceleration gyroscope detectors are used to evaluate fuzzy logic web services, to distinguish among the fall a non-fall, machines learning methods including such k-NN, decision tree, randomized forests, high gradients boosting are employed. The study will compare real-time practical fall monitoring systems with fuzzy services and machine learning to see which is well suited for real-time fall detection. The suggested fuzzy logic web services will efficiently discriminate between fall and non-fall events in a real-world context, according to study results, with precision, sensitivities, and specificities of 90 percent, 88.89 percent, and 91.67 percent, respectively. Using Machine learning's randomized forests method scored 99.19 percent, 98.3 percent, and 99.3 percent, respectively. © 2022 IEEE.
