The Asymmetric Threat Response and Analysis Program (ATRAP) is a software system for intelligence fusion, visualization, reasoning, and prediction. ATRAP consists of a set of tools for annotating and automatically extracting entities and relationships from documents, visualizing this information in relational, geographic, and temporal dimensions, and determining future courses of action of adversaries by creating situational threat templates and applying customized prediction algorithms. In this paper, we first describe the task of analyzing data in intelligence reports, and then provide an overview of major system components: the Text Highlighter tool, the ThoughtSpace TM visualization environment, and the Template Builder and prediction tool. Subsequently, we describe linguistic characteristics of intelligence reports, and describe ATRAP's named entity recognition system.

Integer wavelet transform based on lifting scheme is a kind of invertible integer to integer transform and can reconstruct original signal simply and accurately. Used this characteristic, reversible image watermark algorithm in integer wavelet transform domain is presented in this paper. A binary meaningful image is encrypted by chaotic encryption algorithm to form watermark. In watermark embedding process, a gray image carrier is done by 2-level 9/7-M(4, 2) integer wavelet transform and the encrypted data are embedded into the coefficients of second level high subband. When the watermark extracted, according to the computing algorithm, the data may be entirely gotten back in the integer wavelet domain of the watermarked image and decoded into original image. From results of experimental test, the presented image watermark technology meets requirements of reversibility, security and imperceptibility.

In this paper, we propose a novel method to adaptively apply shape prior in graph cut segmentation. By incorporating shape priors in an adaptive way, we introduce a robust way to harness shape prior in graph cut segmentation. Since traditional graph cut approaches with shape prior may fail in cases where parameters for shape prior term are not set appropriately, incorporation of shape priors adaptively within this framework mitigates these problems. To address this issue, we propose to adaptively apply shape prior based on a shape probability map, defined to reflect the need of shape prior at each location of an image. We show that the proposed method can be easily applied to existing algorithms of graph cut segmentation with shape prior, such as level set based shape prior method, and star shape prior graph cut. We validate our method in various types of images corrupted by significant noise and intensity inhomogeneities. Convincing results are obtained.

The process of watermarking can be viewed as a process of image fusion from the original image and the watermark image. Assuming that the watermarked image is the steady-state, Kalman filter is used as an optimal estimation algorithm in the process of image fusion. The math model is built according to the watermark image and the original image. Then the state equation and the corresponding measurement equation are built. The optimal estimation is received in the case of minimum estimation error variance. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has a good performance both in robustness and invisibility.

The Chinese text in natural scene images which are transmitted in mobile communication network usually contains various and important ***,capturing Chinese text in these images can analyze the content of these images,and improve the commercial value and security of our *** paper proposes an efficient and effective method to capture the Chinese text in images which were taken by mobile phone in natural *** detection and the location of the target text are achieved by AdaBoost,which can eliminate background noise;the SIFT feature,which is proper to the characteristics of Chinese text in image,is applied to capture the content of the located *** method has a good practical application *** the lack of experimental samples,further research is needed to improve.

Digital image analysis technology suffers from imperfection, imprecision and vagueness of the input data and its propagation in all individual components of the technology including image enhancement, segmentation and pattern recognition. Furthermore, a Medical Digital Image Analysis System (MDIAS) such as computer aided detection (CAD) technology deals with another source of uncertainty that is inherent in an image-based practice of medicine. While there are several technology-oriented studies reported in developing CAD applications, no attempt has been made to address, model and integrate these types of uncertainty in the design of the system components even though uncertainty issues directly affect the performance and its accuracy. In order to tackle the problem of uncertainty in the classification design of the system two fuzzy methods are employed and are evaluated for the lung nodule CAD application. The Mamdani model and the Sugeno model of the fuzzy logic system are implemented and the classification results are compared and evaluated through ROC curve analysis and root mean squared error methods. The novelty of the study is to investigate the effect of training algorithms on the performance of the CAD system. The results reveal that the fuzzy logic system with hybrid-training is superior to the other models in terms of root-mean-squared error and ROC curve sensitivity and specificity rates.

In tooth implantation surgery, dentist or surgeon needs to derive quantitative information about the place each implant should be go, the length and width of each implant should be, as well as the angle each implant should be inserted, based on the 3D CT image of jaw of a patient. In existing techniques, the information is measured from such slices that are generated from virtually cutting teeth-ridge along the direction perpendicular to teeth-ridge. However, according to the clinical experience and anatomical knowledge, usually the largest length of each implant should be measured on such slice that is generated by cutting teeth-ridge along the tooth root direction. Besides, for each defect tooth, the most suitable angle or orientation to insert an implant is the tooth root orientation. Thus, in surgical planning of dental implant, it is much important to compute or estimate tooth root orientation from 3D CT image of jaw. To our knowledge, this problem is seldom studied in existing literature. In this paper, we try to discuss this problem.

A reliable outdoor binocular camera calibration method for a multi-GPS (Global Positioning System) apparatuses and multi-cameras based surveillance system is introduced in this paper. Different to other system, the user needs our system to track the motion and estimate the shape of the selected vehicle in real time by our binocular cameras. So we implement our system by these steps below: 1) fixing a GPS apparatus in each vehicle to collect the location information. 2) Calibrating the interior and exterior parameters of the binocular cameras. 3) computing the coordinate transform matrix between the GPS coordinate system and the camera coordinate system. 4) Using the GPS information to guide the binocular cameras to track the moving vehicle. To calibrate the binocular camera in an outdoor environment, we use the Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) descriptor to compute the features. The RANSAC matching technique is used to eliminate the mismatch point pairs. After that, we use an essential matrix based self-calibration technique to compute the camera parameter. Finally, we analyze the relationship between the blur affection level of the calibration image and our proposed method. Many experiment results have shown the robustness of our method.

This article investigates how the Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) algorithm, a newly-developed and effective technique in the fields of signal processing and time-frequency analysis, is introduced and applied to activation detection in task-related functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) of the human brain. The method is illustrated using fMRI data simulated under one paradigm as well as one real dataset, and its performance is compared to those of a leading model based (General Linear Model ? GLM) and a leading data-driven (Region Growing Method ? RGM) approach. It is concluded that the proposed method achieves much better performance than the computationally inefficient RGM and is slightly more sensitive than GLM. Experimental results support its efficiency and sensitivity, which indicates that it is to become a viable alternative to the fMRI analysis.
