The recent spread of smart contracts in several application domains presents challenges in scalability, efficiency, management, and security. In this regard, some design patterns have been proposed to factorize common parts, prevent replicated deployment by promoting reusability, and apply some role-based access control (RBAC) techniques during smart contract execution. In particular, the factory pattern has been widely recognized as a common practice to solve the scalability issue, reducing also the increased gas costs related to both smart contract deployment and its subsequent use. However, in real-world applications, the factory pattern can be considered too limited since it only allows the instantiation of a single type or family of contracts. On the other side, no solutions have been proposed that tightly integrate a factory pattern with RBAC functionalities. In this paper, we propose an extension of the factory pattern, called the hierarchical factory pattern, which integrates a multirole authentication and authorization mechanism tailored explicitly to this pattern since it allows a secure, efficient, and role-specific interaction between the various layers of the hierarchy. The paper ends with some considerations about performance and scalability.

As an important topological property of a 3D binary image, the Euler number can be calculated by counting certain 2 x 2 x 2 voxel patterns in the image. This paper presents a novel method for improving the voxel-pattern-based Euler number computing algorithm of 3D binary images. In the proposed method, by changing the accessing order of voxels in 2 x 2 x 2 voxel patterns and combining the voxel patterns which provide the same Euler number increments for the given image, the average numbers of voxels to be accessed for processing a 2 x 2 x 2 voxel pattern can be decreased from 8 to 4.25, which will lead to an efficient processing. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method is much more efficient than the conventional voxel-pattern-based Euler number computing algorithm.

Face recognitions have been used for various activities, especially for online verification and security. Face recognition system is a simple biometric, however it is more vulnerable than other biometrics because human face is easy to be manipulated. Face Anti-Spoofing (FAS) system is one of methods for detecting attacks on face recognition system. In this paper, we propose a method for FAS by analyzing the image texture from OULU-NPU database using Local Binary pattern (LBP) method with Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) as classifier. Our focus is on comparing optimizer on CNN and color representation on the data. The purpose is to find the best optimizer on CNN and the best color representation for FAS system. The FAS model is trained by half of the data from OULU-NPU database which is set in several color representations. The CNN is also set in several optimizers such as Adam, SGD, Adagrad, and RMSprop. The model that is trained in 50 epochs using HSV images with SGD optimizer achieves the best accuracy of 0.99 and area under curve (AUC) of 0.98 among 32 models. From the experiments, it was found that RMSprop optimizer was not suitable for this research. © 2022 ACM.

The explosion of video data brings new opportunities and challenges for emotion recognition. Video emotion applications have great commercial value, but the potential to involve illegal snooping on personal feelings has led to controversy over privacy protection. The federated learning (FL) paradigm can substantially address the growing public concerns about data privacy in video emotion recognition. However, conventional FL methods perform poorly due to the uniqueness of the task: the data are heterogeneous across clients induced by emotional label skew and cross-culture expression differences. To mitigate the heterogeneous data, we propose EmoFed, a practical framework of federated learning video-based emotion recognition via multi-group clustering and privacy-agnostic hybrid aggregation. It yields a generically applicable and improved model while protecting privacy, which trains local models under groupaware personalized aggregation. To further encourage communicating comprehensive and privacy-agnostic information among clients, we upload model parameters of both the global layers and personalization layers to the server. We utilize the homomorphically encrypted method for personalization layers, which incurs no learning accuracy loss since no noise is added to the model updates during the encryption/decryption process. The proposed method works on video-based emotion recognition tasks to predict actors' emotional expressions and induced emotion by viewers. Extensive experiments and ablation studies on four benchmarks have demonstrated the efficacy and practicability of our method.

In light of global health crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of touchless facial authentication systems has become evident. Traditional face recognition-based models face difficulties in dynamic environments where individuals are in motion and their facial features may change over time. This research proposes a method based on the Faster RCNN architecture, which achieves an accuracy of 98%, surpassing conventional models like LBPH (Local Binary pattern Histogram), Eigen face, and Haar Cascade. By incorporating a Region Proposal Network (RPN) and utilizing inputs from various angles, with a demonstrated average accuracy of 94% in practical examinations. In nine standard cases, the system achieves an accuracy rate of 96%, showcasing its reliability in diverse scenarios. Furthermore, the model effectively addresses challenges posed by facial obstacles such as masks and sunglasses, exhibiting a commendable detection accuracy of 89%. By storing processed RPN for future recognition, the proposed model not only enhances accuracy but also improves detection speed.

At present, object detection technology in computer vision is widely used to monitor an area and obtain the information of the scene. This study is aimed at stampede accidents, using this technology to detect the size of the human flow. In this paper, based on the basic framework of YOLO, in order to obtain more detection accuracy and stability in the identification of human traffic, a variety of LOSS functions are improved to improve the detection performance of the same scene. Then, the results obtained after these improvements were evaluated, and compared with the original YOLOV5, it can be concluded that the performance of various improved methods in the human flow detection is better, the target detection is more accurate, and the recognition accuracy is improved. The results show that the improvement effect of SIOU is the best, with a 1% increase in each indicator. Therefore, SIOU is more suitable for human flow detection.

The current electricity consumption information collection system collects the full amount of electrical parameters for large users with high frequency, while only very little data is collected for low-voltage residential users, which leads to the scale and quality of current low-voltage residential users' electricity consumption data to be improved and makes it difficult to discover phenomena such as electricity theft. In this paper, the electric power big data mining technology is used to model the electricity consumption behavior of low-voltage residential users. By using data extraction, de-duplication, completion, cleaning, conversion and other processing techniques, the value of electricity consumption data can be explored and the quality of data can be improved, so that the patterns of electricity consumption behavior under normal or abnormal conditions can be analyzed. Based on actual residential customers' electricity consumption scenarios, the clustering analysis of low-voltage residential customers' electricity consumption behavior patterns is carried out, and an accurate and stable electricity consumption pattern recognition algorithm is established, which greatly improves the utilization rate of electricity consumption data. © 2022 IEEE.

Spatio-temporal feature descriptors are of great importance for characterizing the local changes of 3D deformable shapes. In this study, we propose a method for characterizing 3D shapes from point clouds and we show a direct application on a study of organ temporal deformations. As an example, we characterize the behavior of the bladder during forced respiratory motion with a reduced number of 3D surface points: first, a set of geodesically equidistant points representing the vertices of quadrilateral mesh for the organ surface are tracked throughout a long dynamic MRI sequence using a large deformation diffeomorphic metric mapping (LDDMM) framework. Second, a novel 3D shape descriptor invariant to translation, scale and rotation is proposed for characterizing the temporal organ deformations by employing an Eulerian Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) methodology. We demonstrate the robustness of our feature on both synthetic 3D shapes and realistic dynamic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) data sequences portraying the bladder deformation during a forced breathing exercise. Promising results are obtained, showing that the proposed feature may be useful for several computer vision applications such as medical imaging, aerodynamics and robotics.
