Addressing the challenges of knowledge acquisition, sharing, and updating in the management of knowledge for Electronic Assembly Process standards, this paper proposes an intelligent management method based on a knowledge graph. This knowledge graph provides functions such as knowledge retrieval, association, recommendation, and management, significantly promoting the sharing and collaboration of knowledge in the Electronic Assembly Process standards and enhancing the efficiency of knowledge management in this field. In terms of knowledge extraction, existing entity-relation extraction methods often perform unnecessary operations to extract subject-object pairs for relation types not included in the text, leading to a decrease in efficiency. To address this problem, this paper introduces a joint entity relation extraction model based on relation prediction and Global Pointers. By preemptively determining the relations present in the text and employing Global Pointers for subject and object recognition and alignment, the performance of triple extraction is improved. Experimental results on the Electronic Assembly Process requirements dataset demonstrate that our model has improved the F-1 score by 0.49% and 2.92% compared to Casrel and PRGC.

Modern science is relying on software more than ever. The behavior and outcomes of this software shape the scientific and public discourse on important topics like climate change, economic growth, or the spread of infections. Most researchers creating software for scientific purposes are not trained in softwareengineering. As a consequence, research software is often developed ad hoc without following stringent processes. With this paper, we want to characterize research software as a new application domain that needs attention from the Requirements engineering community. We conducted an exploratory study based on 8 interviews with 12 researchers who develop software. We describe how researchers elicit, document, and analyze requirements for research software and what processes they follow. From this, we derive specific challenges and describe a vision of Requirements engineering for research software.

Quantum computing (QC) shows the potential to trigger a paradigm shift for numerous industries. As an emerging technology, methodological support for designing and developing QC-based applications is lacking. This paper presents the results of a case study applying consortium research in order to perform a requirements engineering process for two QC-based applications in the manufacturing industry. The results show the differences between requirements engineering for QC applications and conventional software applications. The major findings point to the need for QC knowledge and best practices for a successful requirements engineering process and elaborate on the main differences between QC application- and software application requirements.

Accessibility is a key aspect in ensuring the development of inclusive software. Unfortunately, research demonstrates that a large portion of software today is not created in an accessible manner. Problematically, students may not understand how to create accessible software, additionally misunderstanding the importance of creating accessible software. To fill the gap in accessibility education, we have created a comprehensive collection of labs, collectively referred to as Accessible Learning Labs (ALL). They have the primary objectives of educating participants on how to properly create accessible software, simultaneously illustrating the need to create inclusive and accessible software. In addition, the lab activities enable students to experience the implications of inaccessible software and make repairs based on their experience, making the software in the labs accessible. This will benefit many members of the softwareengineering community, ranging from beginning-level students to experienced practitioners who want to ensure that they are properly creating accessible and inclusive software. software developers handle many complex tasks that include gathering and applying domain knowledge, coordinating subtasks, designing interfaces, turning ideas into elegant code, and more. They must switch contexts between these tasks, incurring more cognitive costs. Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) open up new possibilities for moving beyond the support provided by automated assistants (AAs) available today. In this paper, we explore if a human memory model can provide a framework for the systematic investigation of AAs for software development based on LLMs and other new technologies.

In today's data-driven world, the importance of data literacy is paramount. However, softwareengineering education has not adequately addressed integrating comprehensive data science curricula, leaving students ill-equipped for the future of artificial intelligence (AI), which is built on the foundations of data science. This gap is exacerbated by the lack of tailored courses and the intimidating nature of existing tools for beginners. Consequently, students often miss out on essential skills like data cleanup, real-world application of machine learning (ML) algorithms, and the integration of big data in software products. This paper addresses these challenges by proposing a novel approach to applied data science for softwareengineering students. We argue for a shift from traditional algorithm-focused teaching to a curriculum emphasizing real-world problem-solving, leveraging data science techniques. By empowering students to define and tackle their own data-driven projects, we aim to increase motivation, enhance data literacy, and instill a data-thinking mindset in future software engineers to prepare them for the AI world. Overall, this paper contributes to the advancement of softwareengineering education for young learners by offering a comprehensive framework, the data action educational framework (DAEF), and a data science toolkit that enables DAEF by empowering learners to create original data-driven mobile apps.
