Gaps in current numerical models highlight challenges in accurately simulating photovoltaic (PV) systems, particularly their sensitivity to weather forecast outputs and the impact of environmental factors such as wind speed and humidity. These factors introduce discrepancies between simulated and real-life PV system performance. This study investigates the potential of open-source PV physical models, leveraging pvlib-python, to address these challenges. The research focuses on enhancing the accuracy of these models to generate synthetic data that closely replicate real-world conditions. Using the single diode equation implemented in pvlib-python, DC power production data from a real-life PV module is simulated, with initial discrepancies identified and mitigated through the integration of Huld model. This integration aims to improve the accuracy of synthetic data, thereby bridging the gap between simulated and actual performance metrics. The efficacy of the enhanced predictive models is evaluated using historical field measurements from a PV system testbed, demonstrating advancements in simulating PV system behaviors with enhanced accuracy and reliability. The results unveil a significant enhancement in synthetic data generation using PVLib and Huld model. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper constructs a pseudo-random signal generator based on a dual memristor chaotic system. Firstly, the chaotic characteristics of the dual memristor chaotic system were explored through theoretical analysis and MATLAB numerical simulation, and a MULTISIM simulation circuit for the dual memristor chaotic system was constructed. Then, based on the threshold decision quantization method, a pseudorandom signal generator quantization circuit is formed by connecting an inverter amplifier and a hysteresis comparator on the output side of the analog circuit. Finally, the randomness of the pseudorandom sequence is discussed by NIST test and correlation analysis. The analysis results show that the pseudorandom sequence generated by the pseudo-random signal generator based on the dual memristor chaotic system exhibits good randomness. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In several investigations on control systems, sliding mode control has been identified as a beneficial instrument. The system is stable due to SMC's tolerance to instabilities and model heterogeneity. Furthermore, the chattering phenomena hinders system performance and may possibly lead to disruption. This paper deals with the application of different switching functions on inverted pendulum system. Further the comparison between them has also been done. simulation results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. © Grenze scientific Society, 2023.

Rising electricity consumption and the desire to reduce carbon emissions have increased interest in renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power. This study describes how to successfully implement and simulate a wind power system and a photovoltaic (PV) power system using MATLAB/Simulink. The presented research exhibits the successful implementation of a wind power system and a photovoltaic (PV) power system using MATLAB/Simulink. The wind power system includes a wind turbine, battery bank, inverter, and load, while the PV power system comprises PV panels, battery bank, inverter, and load. By conducting simulations, the study demonstrates the power output of both systems under various operating conditions, providing evidence for the potential of renewable energy sources in power generation. © Grenze scientific Society, 2024.

The use of microservice-based applications is becoming more prominent also in the telecommunication field. The current 5G core network, for instance, is already built around the concept of a "Service Based Architecture", and it is foreseeable that 6G will push even further this concept to enable more flexible and pervasive deployments. However, the increasing complexity of future networks calls for sophisticated platforms that could help network providers with their deployments design. In this framework, a central research trend is the development of digital twins of the physical infrastructures. These digital representations should closely mimic the behavior of the managed system, allowing the operators to test new configurations, analyze what-if scenarios, or train their reinforcement learning algorithms in safe environments. Considering that Kubernetes is becoming the de-facto standard platform for container orchestration and microservice-based application life cycle management, the implementation of a Kubernetes digital twin requires an accurate characterization of the microservice response time, possibly leveraging suitable Machine Learning techniques trained with measurement data collected in the field. In this paper we introduce a new methodology, based on Mixture Density Networks, to accurately estimate the statistical distribution of the response time of microservice-based applications. We show the improvement in performance with respect to simulation-based inference procedures proposed in literature.

This paper presents a novel numerical method for the elastoplastic simulation of vehicle component structures under large deformation problems, such as crash-worthiness analysis. Elastoplastic simulation of vehicle structures is essential for designing safer and more efficient vehicles, but poses significant challenges for a conventional finite element method (FEM) due to the limitation of parallel performance and mesh distortion at large deformations. To overcome these challenges, we propose using the cell-centered finite-volume method (CCFVM) in the Eulerian description and the building-cube method (BCM). The Eulerian CCFVM is a robust scheme for solving large deformations of the continuum by spatially fixed collocated Cartesian mesh, which enables a simpler data structure than conventional FEM. The BCM is a hierarchical Cartesian mesh approach in which the computational domain is divided into cubic regions with adaptive refinement suitable for parallel computing. The combination of Eulerian CCFVM and BCM enables us to perform high-fidelity simulations of vehicle component structures. We demonstrate the validity and scalability of the present method by computing a three-point bending test of vehicle component structures using different geometries, such as impact beams. The numerical results show good agreement with the reference results obtained by LS-DYNA, a commercial FEM code. We also achieve a weak scaling of 73.5% in an elastoplastic simulation of about 540 million cell mesh using 131,072 cores of supercomputer Fugaku. The proposed method is expected to contribute to the development of geometrically complex crushable structures by giga-casting and 3D printing, which are emerging manufacturing techniques for vehicle structures.

Performance portability is becoming crucial as high-performance computing systems become increasingly heterogeneous. We have many options for CPUs and accelerators (e.g., GPUs) but also for non-Von Neumann architectures such as field-programmable gate arrays. This paper presents the CHARMSYCL unified programming environment for multiple accelerator types as a performance-portable programming environment. It uses the IRIS library developed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as the back end accelerator runtime. IRIS has a high-performance scheduler to distribute tasks across accelerators. This design allows us to run an application from the same source on multiple systems with multiple configurations. We provide three types of portability with CHARM-SYCL: Portable Workflow, Compiler and Runtime Portability, and Application and Performance Portability. We implement a Monte Carlo simulation benchmark code on the CHARM-SYCL execution environment and demonstrate that our programming environment can accommodate extremely heterogeneous systems.

Energy efficiency has become a serious concern when running applications on HPC systems. Although these systems were designed to mainly run simulation codes as fast as possible, due to the ever-increasing size of the simulation outputs, the in situ visualization has gained increasing attention. In situ visualization uses the same HPC system to execute a part or even the entire visualization processing, and there are currently a variety of tools and libraries, that facilitate domain scientists to integrate them with their simulation codes. Among different approaches, image- and video-based in situ visualization has been widely adopted as an effective approach for the subsequent offline visual analysis. In this approach, a large number of renderings are required at every visualization time step and can consume a considerable computational resource. Fugaku adopted PowerAPI which enables the users to set the power mode for their jobs. However, simulation and visualization codes may have different processing behaviors requiring different power settings for obtaining the most energy-efficient runnings. In this work, we tried to shed light on the energy efficiency of the visualization portion that was not considered before. We investigated the computational cost and energy consumption of some rendering techniques by using the PowerAPI and KVS (Kyoto Visualization system) on the Fugaku, and hope that the obtained findings will be useful for potential users looking to run in situ visualization on the Fugaku and other PowerAPI-enabled HPC systems.

Interconnect networks are the foundation for modern high performance computing (HPC) systems. Parallel discrete event simulation (PDES), serving as a cornerstone in the study of large-scale networking systems by modeling and simulating the real-world behaviors of HPC facilities, faces escalating computational complexities at an unsustainable scale. The research community is interested in building a surrogate-ready PDES framework where an accurate surrogate model can be used to forecast HPC behaviors and replace computationally expensive PDES phases. In this paper, we focus on forecasting application iteration times, the key indicator of large-scale networking performance, with network features, such as bandwidth-consumed and busy time on routers. We introduce five representative methods, including LAST, Average, ARIMA, LSTM, and the proposed framework LSTM-Feat, to forecast the iteration times of an exemplar application MILC running on a dragonfly system. By incorporating network features, LSTM-Feat can understand dependencies between network features and iteration times, thus facilitating forecasts. The experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of incorporating network features into surrogate models and the potential of surrogate models to accelerate PDES.

People currently live in a difficult world due to the unpredictable hazards present in a particular area, the explosion in Lebanon, colorado's Cameron peak on fire, Wilfred, alpha and beta hurricanes, the madrid bombings, the Denmark power outrage, etc. The intelligent system must establish and take action to ensure the safety of the public at this point, and plan to accomplish there by introducing an advanced radar system that can be utilized as both a security system and the safest system possible. There are numerous instances where we can use it to protect people and to avoid even worse outcomes, as the ones mentioned above. This scientific study describes the many needs and applications for integrating the radar system with the explosion-proof camera and paga system. The major goal is to investigate a safe and secure security system that will protect medical facilities like hospitals as well as the system of highways and other transportation infrastructure. This ground-breaking security system idea was developed to fully eliminate human mistakes, provide a highly functional system, and increase the availability and efficiency of security systems. This would be possible by combining technologies like cctv, paga, and radar. It can be used for data analysis (transferred over to the cloud), image processing, detection, and protection, Additionally, the micrbot can be used to test the system and analyze the results. The tool, new equipment, and advanced safety purposes are introduced in this study. Whereas a radar system uses an explosion-proof ptz camera to take pictures and a public addressing and general alarm system to warn nearby residents to take safety precautions before something bad happens. © 2024 IEEE.
