Alpine skiing is a popular winter sport, and several systems have been proposed to enhance training and improve efficiency. However, many existing systems rely on simulation-based environments, which suffer from drawbacks such as a gap between real skiing and the lack of body ownership. To address these limitations, we present ARpenSki, a novel augmented reality (AR) ski training system that employs a see-through head mounted display (HMD) to deliver augmented visual training cues that may be applied on real slopes. The proposed AR system provides a transparent view of the lower half of the field of vision, where we implemented three different AR-based direct and indirect postural visualization methods. We conducted an user study to investigate the influence of different visual cues in the AR environment. Our results indicate that a simple AR visualization of the user's spine (Figure 1.2) yields the most favorable training performance, surpassing conventional visualizations by 7% improvement in the user's posture. Building upon these promising findings, we further tested our system on real slopes and showed the potential of a real AR skiing application.

We demonstrate that system identification techniques can provide a basis for effective, non-intrusive model order reduction (MOR) for common circuits that are key building blocks in microelectronics. Our approach is motivated by the practical operation of these circuits and utilizes a canonical Hammerstein architecture. To demonstrate the approach we develop parsimonious Hammerstein models for a nonlinear CMOS differential amplifier and an operational amplifier circuit. We train these models on a combination of direct current (DC) and transient Spice circuit simulation data using a novel sequential strategy to identify their static nonlinear and linear dynamical parts. simulation results show that the Hammerstein model is an effective surrogate for for these types of circuits that accurately and efficiently reproduces their behavior over a wide range of operating points and input frequencies. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

Crowdsourced vehicles are expected to be the answer to an efficient yet economic solution for maintaining an HD (High-Definition) map for autonomous vehicles. It is the building block that helps keep the autonomous vehicle safe and sound. However, in realizing this idea, there comes problem such as the reliability of the data provided by crowdsourced vehicles and malicious entities that can compromise map database security. In this paper, we propose a novel idea of implementing blockchain technology to solve the reliability problem and eliminate the effect of malicious intent from unknown entities. We explore the idea of using reputation to value the contribution given by crowdsourced vehicles and update it according to the consensus generated by the peer-to-peer members in the area of update. Essentially, these two key elements are combined to solve the problem faced by crowdsourced solutions for HD map updates. We create a numerical simulation to show that our method can group vehicles into categories according to the quality of data it provides. Furthermore, we show that the system can handle a significant amount of attackers (not a majority) with only a slight decrease in the map element localization accuracy.

Geant4, an object-oriented C++ toolkit for the simulation of the passage of particles through matter, is increasingly used in nuclear physics research. In such a situation, a high level of programming ability is required for users to use Geant4, raising the difficulty of scientific research. Our work focuses on how to lower the technical threshold for using Geant4 with wizard-style GUI and modular functional design. Software-wise, the proposed idea is to design a set of input rules, and to establish a corresponding parsing library as the internal logic of the GUI. With the parsing library, detailed description of detector construction, electromagnetic field setting, source definition and output information become possible without coding. Based on such an idea, a software eCARD (easy CAlculator of RaDiation) for quickly modeling radiation simulation is developed. By using a mature XML parsing library, an input card can be written through the GUI or modified manually. eCARD also integrates functions such as reloading historical files, batch processing and result graphing. This paper will firstly report how to design the software eCARD to work for different research fields. Next, the implementation of eCARD and its application will be introduced. Finally, we will discuss its simulation results compared with research cases. © 2023 by JSME.

Sustainable growth is one of the major challenges of the XXI century: the antagonism between the needs of "development" and finiteness of natural resources is more and more evident, forcing international Agencies to endorse a "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" to promote, among other goals, a responsible management of natural resources. The key issue here is the lack of a consistent sustainability indicator to assess whether a Country is moving in the right direction: for over seventy years, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has been the main parameter to verify the "health" of a Society, but this is a controversial issue in the scientific community. The main concern expressed by Economists and Energy experts is that the GDP was conceived to evaluate the "marketable part" of a society being in contrast with either a sustainable development and a responsible exploitation of natural resources. According to its critics, developmental scenarios built on the GDP might in fact be unsustainable and extremely harmful for future generations. Against this background, several indicators were developed with the intention of replace or supplement such a purely monetary quantifier, but these efforts enjoyed little success, so that the GDP is still the tool of choice for governments and most international Agencies. The aim of the paper is to assess whether it is possible to use a sustainable indicator based on the Extended Exergy Analysis (EEA), a Second Law-based accounting method that includes a novel internalization of Externalities. The present study proposes a structured method to perform an Extended Exergy Analysis of a whole Country, starting with a very disaggregated database that ensured higher accuracy. A numerical application to the "system Italy" is implemented over a period of 22 years (1990-2012). The results lead to a complete divergence between the trends of GDP and EEA. As a wide-ranging distributed system, system Wide Information Management (SWIM) aims to provide an aviation information sharing platform that carries various information systems in the aviation field, so that the business of each subsystem can safely interact. As the data center of SWIM, the cloud storage platform has many functions and services based on third-party platforms. At the same time, it also brings the problem of a third-party trust crisis. In order to effectively verify the trustworthiness of third parties, this paper designs a new verifiable CSAC attribute encryption access control scheme. It introduces the cloud storage administration center (CSAC), and decentralizes multiple sub-authorization centers based on a subset of user attributes. The client uses the verification information provided by multiple sub-authorization centers to combine with the verification algorithm, which is based on the ciphertext access policy attribute encryption algorithm (CP-ABE) and introduces a secret sharing scheme that can identify fraudsters, and client can use this to verify CSAC. The credibility of and the security of key distribution. Compared with the previous solutions, this solution not only effectively solves the problem of the incomplete credibility of third parties, but also improves the efficiency of encryption and decry ption, and ensures the security of data interaction in SWIM.

High-performance field-oriented motor control requires accurate knowledge of flux and speed information. Furthermore, the elimination of sensors leads to reduced overall cost and size of the electric drive system and subsequently improving its reliability. So far, Speed sensorless control of induction motors has been faced with various techniques of speed estimation. However, the main drawbacks of these models are their insufficient performance at low speeds, along with sensitivity to parameters variation, which engenders an unsteady drive system. This paper proposes an effective sensorless indirect Field Oriented control scheme for an induction motor drive. The proposed speed observer combines artificial intelligence and model reference adaptive system (MRAS). This observer is associated with the control scheme as sensorless algorithms for rotor speed and flux estimation. This conjunction is intended to enhance the conventional MRAS performance especially in low-speed regions and reduce its sensitivity to noise and system uncertainties as well. Otherwise, the effectiveness of the proposed speed estimator is tested in simulation using Matlab/Simulink software environment. The control structure is checked in the low speed with load variation.
