This paper explores the ongoing endeavors of the researchers to integrate design thinking into university engineering physics classrooms using reverse engineering activities as an effort to reconcile the tension of implementing disciplinary subjects such as physics within an interdisciplinary learning environment and curriculum. Through the utilization of reverse engineering activities, engineering students are provided with a tool to approach their design challenges by incorporating the fundamental principles of physics. This study focuses on a compulsory classical mechanics and thermodynamics course for first-year undergraduates at an engineering and architecture university. As part of a two-week take-home activity, students were tasked with dissecting and investigating the underlying working principles of a radio-controlled toy car. Preliminary findings from this pilot study suggest a potential transfer of physics concepts from the activity to the tackling of standard physics questions. The survey results suggest an agreement to the relevance of physics within the interdisciplinary learning environment as recognized by the students.

This paper explores the use cases and performance of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the context of Electrical engineering education. A summary of commonly used generative AI tools in engineering education is provided along with a review of their use cases from recent literature. The performances of the generative AI tools GPT-3.5, GPT-4 and Google Bard are examined using custom-made question sets in two representative courses: Digital Logic Design and Digital Signal Processing. The paper highlights that GPT4 achieves over 50% accuracy in both courses and generative AI tools are more effective at solving standalone concept questions than analytical or numerical questions.

The incorporation of innovative tools into teaching methods is an attempt to increase student motivation and commitment. Gamification is defined as the use of game elements in a non-game context, creating a badge and reward system, and incentivizing competition. The application of gamification in science and chemistry education has proved to improve student ' s attention, engagement, and motivation. In the present project, the use of a light-signal-powered car denoted as "IQ-mobile" drive controlled through a concentration-dependent clock-reaction was applied as a gamification strategy for chemical-kinetics teaching. A team race competition was set between the students to incentivize the experimental analysis, planning, and execution. The effect on the student's comprehension of the topics and grades compared to prior strategy application was analyzed. Results showed that therace had a positive effect on learning, increasing motivation and improving students communication and teamwork skills.

The evaluation of personality factors includes the evaluation of both intelligence factors and non-intelligence factors. The former includes knowledge evaluation and intelligence evaluation, while the latter mainly includes value evaluation and willpower evaluation. Therefore, the evaluation of personality factors mainly includes a knowledge evaluation, intelligence evaluation, value evaluation, and willpower evaluation. Evaluating these factors aims to provide guidance, supervision, and feedback for teaching activities. Meanwhile, knowledge evaluation is the core content of traditional learning evaluation. Therefore, this paper proposes a personalized teaching evaluation system based on various evaluation elements in the SPOC environment, namely IVWA, aiming at the phenomenon of students' poor self-discipline in learning and rapid decline in learning activities in the SPOC practice process, to provide evaluation reference for online and offline teaching activities and improve teaching quality.

Adaptive learning is a method that personalizes the teaching-learning strategies in accordance with the needs and preferences of each student. This article describes the design, the implementation and the tests of a web application developed with adaptive learning in order to improve student knowledge acquisition and to simplify the teacher's work. The tool uses EventSource technologies combined with heuristic functions to produce a predictive algorithm, which is capable of being adapted to the students in a customized way by presenting the content adjusted according to their cognitive needs. The design is based on the hypothesis that the acquisition of knowledge can be improved by using a computing application which presents a syllabus to be learned in various forms. In this way, the application determines students' progress within the content of the material, which is classified by branches of knowledge. The tool was applied to one group of students and the data that we obtained was compared with the results of the rest, subject to the usual knowledge transmission system. The results obtained not only improve the academic results, but also enhance the heuristic decision-making about the content to be taught.
