teaching approaches that focus on the field of science, adopting the activity theory, combined with the use of new technologies, become particularly interesting when they start with the exploration of alternative ideas and are aimed at students falling on the spectrum of high-functioning autism. In this light, two different detection-teaching activity systems were designed and developed, using semi-structured frameworks of observation, reflection and experimental exploration in real and digital educational environments, adapted and personalized to the specificities of the disorder concerned. The aim was to stimulate learning curiosity and to develop appropriate conditions for teaching interventions, starting from the detection of students' alternative ideas. The research sample consisted of 10 primary school students of fifth and sixth grade. The results of the research revealed that the adaptability of the specific tools to the individual skills of students with ASD, worked as a supportive factor both in the process of detecting students' alternative conceptions and in the creation of learning motivation through targeted activities of creative curiosity and participatory interaction.
This document deals with the challenges in the teaching process that must respond agilely to the challenges of technological advances and other unexpected stimuli (the recent COVID pandemic, assertion of power interes...

This paper reports the initial findings of the first part of the two-part study which investigated the qualities of online programming teachers. The first part was a qualitative design that employed a grounded theory approach. Ten students were interviewed about the qualities of teachers they like and dislike. Another group of students (n = 58) were asked the same question using an open-ended questionnaire. Thematic analysis of the data collected from two sets of participants revealed that desirable characteristics of teachers were mainly attributed to their delivery skills. The personality of teachers is another aspect of their desirability or undesirability. Thus, the initial attributes of qualities of good online programming teachers are mainly attributed to their extrinsic (e.g., delivery skills) and intrinsic (e.g., personality) qualities. The plan for further research is also discussed.

teaching HCI engineering focuses on preparing students for the design, development, and implementation of usable and effective interactive computing systems. Amongst the engineering approaches that can be taught for that purpose, model-based techniques are interesting because they match the industry's needs for techniques to develop usable and reliable interactive computing systems. Beyond this concrete motivation for teaching students how to build and use models, models are also interesting because they help students to reason and understand problems, and can even make them better at identifying and solving problems. However, students do not always understand the benefits of using modelling techniques. They may find them abstract, cumbersome, and worthless. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the importance of teaching modelling for HCI engineering, especially in a context where new technologies and new methodology trends are continuously emerging. This paper proposes several strategies to increase the involvement of students with modelling techniques.

As high-performance computing technologies advance, the significance of parallel programming in various domains is becoming increasingly evident since it allows us to harness the power of heterogeneous computing and solve complex problems more efficiently. However, for students to master this type of computation and be able to apply it in different contexts, it requires understanding how measuring and optimizing parallel code impacts its performance. This paper presents an approach to enhancing students' comprehension of parallel performance metrics through an interactive exercise that complements lectures on parallel performance and improves assessment.

Merging disciplines has led to incredible learnings and breakthroughs throughout history, including the discovery of quantum computing: a cross between computation and quantum physics. In this paper, I will discuss how we can cross quantum computing with topics in fundamental physics. This leads to fruitful, interactive learning opportunities that fuse deep open physics problems with key insights about quantum information science. By outlining quantum circuit experiments that can be run on current and near-term quantum computers, I demonstrate how to help learners engage with principles in special relativity, general relativity and thermodynamics. In turn, these connections can advance their understanding of quantum computing. Learners can further explore the quantum computing activities in this paper via the Quantum Paradoxes content series of videos, blogs and code tutorials that I created with IBM Quantum.
