Cloud computing provides services in the "cloud" to be utilized by mobile apps/users and businesses and is required in critical domains such as healthcare. Specifically, the Meaningful Use Stage 3 guidelines require cloud services to enable health-related information to be available for patients and medical providers via mobile apps that access, modify, and exchange data from multiple health information technology (HIT) systems. These HITs may: operate with cloud services, programming services, or web services;use different cloud service providers;and, employ alternate access control techniques in which mobile app developers are required to interact with many heterogeneous systems and platforms. This paper proposes role-based access control for cloud computing (RBACCC) for multiple HITs to register cloud, programming, and web services, where said services are unified into a global set of cloud services controlled via definition/enforcement. A new HIT system joining the cloud must map their services to existing global services. As a result, mobile developers can more easily interact with a unified global API to access multiple HITs. To demonstrate RBACCC, we utilize the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard, that models healthcare data with resources in JSON and CRUD RESTful APIs to track a patient's clinical findings, problems, allergies, etc.;this is via a proof-of-concept prototype: the Concussion Tracker mobile app for K-12 students;the ShareMyHealth mobile app for fitness data;and, the OpenEMR and MyGoogle HITs that have FHIR APIs utilizing the HAPI FIR implementation. © 2017.

E-government is a permanent commitment of the central administration to improve the relationship with citizens, through the effective and efficient exchange of services, information and knowledge. All this supported by Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). In the university field, e-government involves the application of ICT in the operational processes (research, teaching and community & service), administrative support and above all in the strategic processes of university management. A fundamental element on which the implementation of e-government platforms is based is the administration of institutional data. From this data it is feasible to obtain crucial information to make strategic decisions that benefit all stakeholders. In this sense, the Data Warehousing (DWH) and the techniques of data mining (DM), are technological tools of support to the management of the data. Universities generate large amounts of data daily, however these data are not being used adequately as a basis for strategic decision making. A common problem that is evident in institutions of higher education is to find computer systems that operate autonomously, this implies that many processes are decoupled and the extraction of information becomes very complicated. This article explores the use of data mining for strategic decision making in private universities in Ecuador. The study is carried out through an analysis of the websites and strategic plans of the institutions, where the use of DM or DWH tools can be identified. © 2017.

With the advancement in internet of Things (Iot), the speech recognition technology in mobile terminals' applications has become a new trend. Consequently, how to accelerate the training and improve the accuracy in speech recognition has attracted the attention of academia and industry. Generally, Deep Belief Network (DBN) with Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) is applied in acoustic model of speech recognition, critical research challenges are yet to be solved. It's hard for GPU to store the parameters of DBN at one time as well as GPU's shared memory is not fully used. And parameters transmission have become a bottleneck in multi-GPUs. This paper presents a new method in which the weight matrix is divided into sub-weight matrices and established a reasonable memory model. To eliminate the inefficient idle-state during data transfers, a stream process model is proposed in which the data transfer and kernel execution are performed simultaneously. Further, apply the optimized single GPU implementation to multi-GPUs and is intend to solve the parameters transmission. Experimental results show the optimized GPU implementation without violating the size limitation of GPU's memory.

The search for faster internet connection is ceaseless and the need for new technologies and techniques is always on rise. Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) is an inconceivable asset, but it is still limited, and as connectivity spreads, both across the world and throughout the internet of Things (IoT), issues will emerge if WiFi is our exclusive alternative. So, in 2011, a Light Fidelity (LiFi) was introduced such that the speed is over 1 Giga bytes per second (Gbps), that is 100 times faster than the speed of WiFi we are utilizing as of now. The speed of LiFi is additionally anticipated that would achieve 3 to 5 Gbps making it perfect for IoT and to wipe out the constraints and limitations with WiFi technology. In this paper, we discuss the idea of integrating IoT and LiFi, as well as identified the challenges and opportunities of the integrated system to build novel and smart solutions.

The internet of Things (IoT) offers the ability to analyze and predict our surroundings through sensor networks at the network edge. To facilitate this predictive functionality, Edge computing (EC) applications are developed by considering: power consumption, network lifetime and quality of context inference. Humongous contextual data from sensors provide data scientists better knowledge extraction, albeit coming at the expense of holistic data transfer that threatens the network feasibility and lifetime. To cope with this, collaborative machine learning is applied to EC devices to (i) extract the statistical relationships and (ii) construct regression (predictive) models to maximize communication efficiency. In this paper, we propose a learning methodology that improves the prediction accuracy by quantizing the input space and leveraging the local knowledge of the EC devices.

Tasks scheduling algorithms play a significant role in determining the performance of cloud computing. In this paper new method called tasks classification & Virtual Machines (VMs) categorization (TC & VC) can be applied in conjunction with any task scheduling algorithm to improve algorithms performance and increase its load fairness. Task classified based on their length, while VMs are categorized into the same number as tasks classification. In order to measure the performance achieved by this method, it will be applied on a set of simple scheduling algorithms, such as First Come First Service (FCFS), Shortest Job First (SJF), and Max-Min scheduling algorithms.

The purpose of this study is to propose a Wi-Fi union mechanism based on fog computing architecture to enhance the efficiency of advertisement for small businesses through using mobile devices. In particular, an internet advertisement system based on Wi-Fi union mechanism was built in business and customer sides. The result shows that the system in a Wi-Fi union is easy to use on both sides and advertisements can be seen by all customers who are using free Wi-Fi from the stores of the union. © 2017 IEEE.

Cloud computing is a type of internet-based computing, much used in recent years, that relies on sharing computer processing resources and data to computers and other devices on demand, from any location and at any time rather than having local servers or personal devices to handle applications. Ois shared IT infrastructure contains large pools of systems that are linked together. Often, virtualization techniques are used to maximize the power of cloud computing. In this paper we describe the network of a cloud computing environment with five different layers, represented by hardware/datacenter, infrastructure, platform, application and end-users. Often, we present the mathematical model of the network and study the behavior of the typical IaaS provider in order to find the optimization problem. A computational procedure for the calculus of the optimal solutions is proposed and is applied to a numerical example.

This work develops a cloud-fog computing architecture for information-centric internet-of-Things (IoT) applications with job classification and resource scheduling functions. The two designed functions support quality of service (QoS) by classifying IoT applications and scheduling computing resources. An innovative scheduling mechanism is developed to optimize the dispatch of cloud and fog resources at minimum cost in a cloud-fog computing environment. One cloud, three fogs, four types of IoT application and 2500 IoT tasks are designed in the cloud-fog simulation environment. The simulation results reveal that the proposed computing architecture outperforms computing without scheduling by reducing the cloud computing load by approximately 20.47%. The QoS of real-Time IoT applications is guaranteed in the proposed mechanism. © 2017 IEEE.

The goal of this publication is to describe the implementation of an Elastisearch, Logstash and Kibana (ELK) stack to process IoT data. Although, those tools were designed to be used mainly for handling large number of log data, they can be applied also to store, search and visualise other type of information - including IoT data. In order to show practical implementation of the idea, selected devices installed in the building of ABB Corporate Research in Krakow has been used. In prepared system, real data generated by various subsystems in this building has been integrated into one Elasticsearch based solution for further processing. Later on, this data will be used to develop data analytics to extract and visualize meaningful insights about building operations. In addition, selected data is sent to the Azure cloud to use its abilities in big data processing and machine learning.
