We study simple linear orthogonal transforms for images, which are real-valued, non-overlapped, and fast transforms similar to the Haar wavelet transform. These transforms reveal the correlation of each block of four neighbor points (or pixels) of an image, and can thus be used for an efficient representation of the image. Since several parameters are necessary to determine the orthogonality of such transforms, we conducted numerical experiments to determine the optimal parameter for minimizing distortion errors in nonlinear image approximations.

We propose a new method for early esophageal cancer detection from endoscopic images. In the proposed method, an endoscopic image is converted to the CIE L*a*b* color space, and the Haar wavelet transform is applied to the L* and a* components. First, we create an average image of the normal region from the a* component. Next, we calculate the threshold for detecting abnormal regions from the average image, based on a box plot. In our experiment, the L* and a* components of the endoscopic image are divided into small blocks. The L* component is normalized and binarized, to determine the analysis target. The a* component is used to calculate a trim mean, and this is compared with a threshold and binarized. Then, the logical product of the L* and a* components is computed to generate an enhanced image and detect abnormal regions. We describe the method for detecting abnormal regions in detail, and show that our proposed method is useful for early esophageal cancer detection from endoscopic images.

In order to filter out image noise better and make it have better clarity, continuity and anti-noise performance in image edge extraction. Firstly, this paper constructs a new threshold function, compared with the traditional soft and hard threshold function and some existing improved methods, the threshold function has better adjustability and it is also continuous and almost smooth everywhere. When dealing with the wavelet coefficients, the real information on them can be retained more, and the noise can be effectively filtered at the same time. The simulation experiment shows that the image processed by the new threshold function has a high PSNR and a small MSE, which can be closer to the original image. Finally, the improved threshold function de-noising algorithm and the dyadic wavelet transform modulus maximum edge detection algorithm are combined to apply to image edge detection. By combining the advantages of the two algorithms, so that we can get clearer and more continuous image edges, and the contour is more complete.

In biological information systems, the analysis of biological sequences is a major problem in today's bioinformatics research. In this paper, a method for protein sequence similarity analysis based on discrete wavelet transform and fractal dimension and single clustering method is proposed. Multivariate decomposition of digital signals containing biological information is performed by discrete wavelets. Using the Higuchi algorithm based on wavelet decomposition, the fractal characteristics of the primary structure of the protein were studied using multiple properties of the protein. The distance matrix between different proteins is obtained by analytical calculation. Phylogenetic tree, and similar analysis of protein sequences. The results show that compared with the traditional methods, wavelet transform and fractal dimension methods and multiple attribute analysis can analyze the similarity of protein sequences more comprehensively, reliably and quickly.

We propose herein a new feature extraction method based on the lifting wavelet transform for dysplasia detection from an endoscopic image. In the proposed method, the input endoscopic image is converted into the hue-saturation-value color space, and the S space image is used. The pattern of the abnormal area is learned from this image using Daubechies 2 (db2) wavelet lifting wavelet transform. The lifting wavelet transform is performed on the detected image using the learned filter. Each frequency component is obtained using this method. The detected image generated from the sum of the high-frequency components is divided into small blocks. A static threshold is determined herein to obtain a binary image. Discrete wavelet transform is used to exclude smooth areas. V space images are used to exclude dark areas, such as shadows. This emphasizes the contour of the abnormal part. Finally, from the idea that the area surrounded by the outline is also abnormal, the life game is limitedly applied to emphasize the abnormal area. We describe the feature extraction in detail and present the experimental results demonstrating that our method is useful for the development of dysplasia detection from an endoscopic image.

Orthogonal wavelets are applied to turbulent flow over a cubical building array. The transfer spectrum, which depends on scale and spatial location, characterises nonlinear energy transfers from one scale to another. Using large-eddy simulation, the interscale energy transfer is decomposed into discrete modes and comparisons made with the usual Fourier spectrum. Spatial variability is quantified with the standard deviations or dual spectra. wavelet decomposition of the spectral energy transfer shows that energy is cascaded from large to small scales in both the inertial sublayer and outer layer. There is also indication of energy backscatter in the roughness sublayer as shown by the scale-filtered reconstruction error. Based on the urban turbulent flow at various heights, the choice of wavelet basis is also discussed. This work is relevant to the development of multiscale urban canopy characterizations that seek to model the energy transfers between regional and urban scales.

Three-dimensional (3D) flow structures around a wall-mounted short cylinder of an aspect ratio 1 were instantaneously measured by a high -resolution Tomographic particle image velocimetry (TPIV) in a water tunnel. Here both of the diameter D and height H of the cylinder is 70 mm The 3D orthogonal wavelet multi-resolution technique is developed to analyze instantaneous 3D velocity fields of a high-resolution Tomographic PLY in order to clarify 3D multi-scale wake flow structures. This paper found a 3D W-type arch vortex behind the short cylinder, which is originated by the interaction between upwash and downwash flows. The head shape of arch vortex structure does not only depend on the aspect ratio of the cylinder, but also is associated with the cylinder diameter. By using the 3D orthogonal wavelet multi-resolution analysis, the instantaneous W-type arch vortex and streamwise vortices are extracted at the wavelet level 1. It also found that the intermediate-scale upwash vortices play an essential role in producing W-type head of arch vortex.

As the consumption of the fossil fuel and the other unrenewable energy, the renewable energy gradually cause the high attention and become a tendency of the power production. In the solar industry, the prediction of the solar irradiation intensity is an important procedure during the photovoltaic power generation. But sometimes the solar data, which could be used to predict the future power generation case and hold the economic operation, is difficult to capture because the actual geographical environment, where is not allowed to put up the sensor. In order to solve this dilemma, this paper proposes a method of the data generation, which mainly consist of three factors. Through the comparison of the actual solar irradiation intensity data and the generated data with the method, the error is in the permitted range, which means the validity of the method.

Traditional wavelet transform-based methods process decompose coefficient in high-dimensional, which makes computational complicated. In order to address this problem, in this paper, a novel approach named wavelet transform-based one dimensional manifold embedding (WT1DME) is proposed for HSI classification. In the proposed approach, firstly, using wavelet transform decomposes the input signal into an approximate coefficients (ACs). Then, smooth ordering is applied to the ACs which maps the coefficients into one-dimensional (1-D) space. Finally, since the coefficients in the 1-D space, hence, 1-D signal processing tools can be applied to build final classifier(we utilize interpolation in this paper). Our proposed methods can be used to process the decompose coefficients in 1-D space, which can perform efficiently. The proposed scheme is experimentally demonstrated by two HSI data sets: IndianPines, University of Pavia has the state-of-the-art performance of results.
