This paper describes a method of image sharpness evaluation while taking into account the photographer's aesthetic intention. The main idea is utilizing a visual importance map that estimates the weight of each pixel to guild evaluating image sharpness. The visual importance map is computed automatically with a saliency detection algorithm based on global color contrast. Our technique allows to treat pixels in an image differently based on their content, such that the perceptually important features and photograph's subjective intention can be reflected in the result. The proposed method is validated by experiment on public data set.

In this paper, we proposed a novel optical encryption and decryption method of gray image based on the Fourier computer-generated hologram (CGH) and logical modulation. Since the encryption method using the CGH or the logical modulation alone has a shortness of low security, the proposed novel encryption combines the two methods together. In our encryption processing, the hologram, which is gotten by Fourier transform from the original image, is encrypted by logical modulation with the chaotic sequence. Simulation results and analysis show that the security and robustness of the proposed approach has a satisfactory performance.

In this paper, a novel encryption and decryption method for color images based on the Hadamard transform (HT) and logical modulation has been proposed. Firstly, considering security and efficiency, together, our cryptosystem combined with image compression can reduce encryption time and promote real-time secure image transmission and storage. Then the compressed image is encrypted by logical modulation with chaotic sequence in HT domain. Furthermore, the validity and feasibility of proposed method is demonstrated by experimental simulation results in the case of ensuring good quality of recovered image.

To solve this problem, the protein functional domain information is applied in this method. For accurately identify the cleavage sites along the sequence, a subset of potential cleavage sites was firstly screened out by statistical machine learning rules, and then the final unique site was picked out according to its evolution conservation score. Manual segmentation of tumors in a medical image is difficult and time-consuming, while automatic segmentation which does not need interactions has many challenges due to poor contrast between different regions. We therefore present a semiautomatic kidney tumor detection and segmentation method. Our method firstly segments the kidney from the whole image using single atlas based segmentation. Then we apply a supervoxel segmentation to generate an over segmentation, and estimate the abnormal probability of each voxel respectively, using the segmentation result above. We visualize the probability by using the volume rendering technique, highlighting the abnormal regions, which is easy to observe and select for users. This method is more reliable and flexible comparing to automatic methods.

Different from traditional algorithms, the material modeling method utilizing luma Y in YUV color space has been developed in this paper. Our method, which interactively acquires material appearance from a single image, includes four main steps: removing highlight, recovering normal based on luma Y, estimating diffuse coefficient, setting glossiness and specular coefficient interactively. The noise is generally not a single type in digital image, which is usually composed of Gaussian noise and pulse noise. So the signal to noise ratio of the image is low and the noise in images needs to be processed. The traditional denoising algorithm and various improved algorithm is effective for single Gaussian noise or impulse noise mostly, these denoising algorithms are unable to obtain satisfactory denoising effect in dealing with the mixed noise. Some existing hybrid denoising methods usually change distribution characteristics of another noise when removing one noise at the same time, so subsequent denoising effect is affected. To resolve the problem, a composite image denoising method based on the combination of independent component analysis and traditional spatial denoising method is proposed. Simulation experiment results show that the method can effectively preserve edge details and other information of image when removing mixed noise.
