In order to improve the robustness of the existing character recognition systems and increase their recognition ratio under various bad illumination conditions, we proposed a fast image enhancement algorithm based on illumination-reflectance model, by using an approximate edge-preserved filter. In this paper, an improved scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) algorithm for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image matching is proposed. Initially, feature descriptors based on gradient ratio (GR) are constructed by utilizing traditional SIFT method. In order to measure the matching degree between images, the similarities of the descriptors are then calculated via the symmetry Kullback-Leibler divergence (SKLD) criterion. Experimental results show that the proposed method has a good performance on image matching for SAR images.

The processing system consists of five modules: non-uniformity correction, trajectory segmentation, odd even correction, image projection and visualization. It has been designed to perform thermal mapping efficiently and meet the special requirements of fast data processing. The brain tumor CT image segmentation frequently suffers from the fuzzy edges, and manual segmentation mainly relies on doctor's clinical experience. For the purpose to accurately segment brain tumor, a method for brain tumor CT image segmentation based on SLIC0 superpixels is proposed. Firstly, the simple linear iterative clustering version with 0 (SLIC0) is employed to generate superpixels; Secondly, region merging is adopted to merge the similar superpixels according to their gray, and finally segment the brain tumor regions. Experiments show that this method can accurately segment the target tumor, and segmentation accuracy can be adjusted by setting the pixel number of superpixels.

To overcome the deterioration of azimuth resolution caused by errors of monopulse response curve (MRC) in practical processing, this paper proposes an auto-focusing algorithm for monopulse imaging technique. By applying iterative steps, this algorithm automatically extracts the echo signals of isolated strong scatterers from the received data, and employs them to accurately estimate the actual MRC. The estimated curve is then used in the procedure of monopulse imaging to autofocus the image in azimuth. As is verified by simulation and experimental results, this algorithm can effectively reduce the impact of MRC errors on monopulse imaging and is robust to most of the ground scenes, making it feasible in practical processing.

This paper presents a volumetric parameterization approach which is based on bounded-distortion harmonic energy. We take the tetrahedral mesh as input data and maps it to a solid sphere, in that way we can acquire a bijective simplicial map. Then we project the bijective simplicial map on the space of the bounded-distortion map, which means that we find a closet mapping that is featured with bijective and bounded-distortion. The resulting map is loss-distortion, bijective and non-flips.

The Census transform is very useful in stereo matching algorithms. But the traditional Census transform cost too much computation, and its accuracy and robustness are not satisfying. In this paper, a modified semi-global matching (SGM) algorithm based on the fast Census transform is proposed to improve the quality of the range map and decrease the computation. In addition, we modify the disparity refinement to enhance the quality of the estimated range map. Our experiments show that the proposed method performs better than the original SGM algorithm in terms of the accuracy and the anti-noise capability.
