Based on spread spectrum technique, two wireless video transmission schemes are designed and implemented in this paper, namely direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) scheme and multi-code spread spectrum (MCSS) scheme. We use software defined radio (SDR) method for hardware implementation of two schemes, where a XILINX Virtex-4 field programmable gate array (FPGA) for the transmitter and another Virtex-5 FPGA for the receiver. In order to evaluate their performance, we compared the two designed schemes with our previous work on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme. The experimental results show that two schemes of DSSS and MCSS have better anti-jamming performance than OFDM scheme at the cost of spectrum efficiency. Also, DSSS scheme possesses higher power efficiency than MCSS scheme and OFDM scheme due to its lower peak-to-average power ratio.

Domestic sewage treatment is a hot research topic in recent years. The testing methods for the quality of treated water are usually based on chemical techniques, which are more accurate, but are time-consuming, complex operation, and may lead to secondary pollution. In this paper, we propose an electrical method to detect domestic sewage on different stages of water treatment. A portable inspection system based on coplanar capacitive sensor is designed. The system includes data acquisition module, data conversion module, system control module and data display module. In order to verify the effectiveness of the designed system, a comparison experiments are completed by using impedance analyser. Four water samples including original domestic sewage, the first stage of treated water, reclaimed water and running water are tested, respectively. The experimental results illustrate that the system can effectively distinguish different stages of the treated domestic sewage.

The traditional highway toll system identification algorithm which is only based on license plate is not accurate. It results that the evading toll fee behavior is difficult to prohibit. To solve the above problems, a new method based on vehicle appearance feature points was proposed. Firstly Haar feature and Adaboost classifier were adopted to detect vehicle, and the ORB algorithm was used to detect feature points. According to the low memory requirement, the trained 32 dimensional features were used to describe feature points. In matching strategy, the bidirectional matching method which was based on Hamming distance was used to do rough mathching firstly. Then RANSAC algorithm was adopted to eliminate false matching again. Finally, an optimal affine matrix was estimated by least squares method. The matching number, the affine scaling ratio and average values by two direction and rotation angle parameter were used as the discriminant method. The experimental results indicate these methods were of good robustness and high efficiency, and especially make vehicle feature information occupy less storage space.

Wireless devices in wireless ad hoc networks can directly communicate with each other without infrastructure. Almost all of the networking functions need to depend on the contributions of the relay nodes. Nevertheless, the nodes are selfish in nature because of limited computation resources and power. Therefore, a key issue is how to provide incentives to stimulate cooperation in wireless ad hoc networks. The solutions of nodes non-cooperation problem include mainly reputation mechanisms and credit-based mechanisms. In this paper, we design an effective incentive mechanism game theory based (IMGT) in order to stimulate the nodes to forward data to one another both routing and data forwarding stage. Experimental results show that the proposed mechanism achieves a remarkable improvement in the average end to end latency, average fixed income, payment-to-cost and packet delivery ratio.

Ultrasound imaging is now becoming a frequently used tool in clinical diagnosis. In this article, a novel diagnosis scheme is proposed to aid the identification of breast lesions. In this approach, feature scoring scheme is first applied to product feature data. Biclustering mining is then helpful to discover the effective diagnostic patterns, and those found patterns are utilized to transform the original features into advanced hidden features. Finally those advanced features are treated as the input data for back-propagation (BP) neural network algorithm to train an efficient classifier for recognizing benign and malignant breast tumors. The proposed approach has been validated using a database of 238 breast tumor instances (including 115 benign cases and 123 malignant cases) with its performance compared with other conventional approaches. Experimental results indicate our proposed method yielded good performance in tumor classification, with the accuracy, sensitivity, specificity of 96.1%, 96.7%, 95.7%, respectively.

This paper proposes a new fusion approach of infrared (IR) and visual (VIS) images based on Undecimated Discrete Wavelet Transform (UDWT) and saliency map analysis. The proposed fusion method is composed of three steps. Firstly, IR and VIS images are decomposed into low-pass sub-band coefficients and high-pass sub-band coefficients by UDWT. Meanwhile, sub-band directional coefficients are extracted by Non-Subsampled Directional Filter Banks (NSDFB) from high-pass sub-band coefficients. Secondly, the coefficient combination rules are set based on saliency maps of original IR and VIS images, which are obtained by employing the Itti saliency computing model. Thirdly, fused images are re-built by the inverse UDWT. The results of the experiments indicate that the presented approach achieves better subjective fusion effects than some current popular fusion methods. Furthermore, the proposed method gets better objective assessments.

In the process of orthodontic treatment, in order to make patients adorn appropriate brackets fast and accurately, this paper proposes a new modeling method of customized brackets and individualized trays. First of all, as the straight-wire can smoothly pass through all bracket slots after orthodontic treatment, bracket bodies in the database are positioned to the tooth surfaces automatically. Then some of them may be adjusted manually in accordance with specific conditions. Subsequently, customized brackets are designed based on the teeth morphology of patient. Finally, we can create each individualized tray rapidly on the basis of isometric extrude operation and Boolean operation. Some experiments have been tested by 3D printing technology and modeling platform. The results proved that the proposed modeling method has higher efficiency and the bonded bracket positioning is accurate and reliable.

Recently, the synthesis of 3D dynamic expressions has become an important concern in computer graphics, facial recognition, etc. In this study, we propose a regression based joint subspace learning method for the automatic synthesis of 3D dynamic expression images. This method synthesizes 3D dynamic expression images from a single 2D facial image. We use two subspaces (the view subspace and the frame subspace) to synthesize a 3D image. First, we use the view subspace to estimate multi-view facial images from a front image. Next, we construct a 3D image using the estimated multi-view facial images. Finally, we estimate the 3D images in different frames by using the frame subspace to synthesis 3D dynamic expression images. This approach is unlike the conventional joint subspace learning in which, the coefficients estimated by the input image are directly used for synthesis. Furthermore, we propose using textural information to improve the accuracy of synthesized images.

Data centers are extremely important facilities that contain core business information and applications, but the energy consumption is an inevitable issue, so the thermal distribution monitoring is critical for data centers reliable and stable operation. Thermal information enables monitoring and autonomic thermal management in large data centers. Recent approaches that employed a mobile robot or a thermal camera network can already collect the physical positions of hot spots. However, most of the features extracted from thermal images, such as shape and gradient, may be affected by changes in the position and direction of the thermal camera. In this paper, a thermal distribution monitoring method is proposed to extract the thermal features of a hot spot or a server in a container data center. In the first stage of our method, thermal and visual images are registered based on texture characteristics in images that are obtained in data centers. Then, the thermal distribution of each server is standardized. The features of the hot spot or server extracted from the standard distribution can diminish the impact of camera position and direction. The experimental results verified the efficient and the advantages of this method.

In the problem of three-dimensional reconstruction from depth maps, the objects may produce deformation; the camera calibration error may lead to slight deformation of depth images. We propose a new approach named IRLS-ICP-TPS(Iteratively Re-weighed Least Squares Iterative Closest Point Thin-Plate Splines) to align the depth images. It can be used to calibrate the slight deformation of the depth images and align the point sets of deformable objects. In the first step, we convert the depth images into point cloud, then, we use the Spin-image coarsely match the point sets. Thirdly, we make use of the IRLS-ICP(Iterative Closest Point) algorithm to register the point clouds on the basis of coarse matching. In the end, we deform the point cloud using TPS(Thin-Plate Splines) and joint the point sets. The experiments show that the proposed method can get better results in registration of depth maps, both for rigid and non-rigid objects, than original registration methods.
