The preservation of biodiversity, particularly the monitoring of rare tree species in dynamic forest ecosystems, presents significant challenges due to the complexities in detecting and analyzing forest changes. This research introduces a novel IoT -assisted AI framework, termed FoLiA-Net (Forest Lightweight Adaptive Network), designed to improve the efficiency and accuracy of monitoring rare trees. The proposed algorithm combines IoT sensor data with machine learning techniques to adaptively detect, classify, and track rare tree species across large and dynamically changing forest areas. The framework utilizes a lightweight neural network structure to ensure real-time processing while minimizing computational resources, making it suitable for deployment in resource-constrained environments. Simulation experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of FoLiA-Net in comparison with existing algorithms, including Faster R-CNN (F-R-CNN), Random Forest Classifier (RFC), and Gradient Boosting Machines (GBM). The evaluation was based on several key performance metrics such as accuracy, latency and detection efficiency. The results revealed that FoLiA-Net outperformed the existing algorithms in terms of accuracy and computational efficiency, demonstrating a notable improvement in the monitoring of rare tree species in diverse forest ecosystems. The proposed framework is particularly effective in large-scale forest monitoring, providing a valuable tool for biodiversity conservation efforts © 2025 IEEE.

Metamaterial absorbers are an advancement in material science as they provide more advantages in comparison to conventional materials. Achieving miniaturization with a multilayered structure is the primary challenge here. In this study, a novel metamaterial absorber design is proposed for microwave application. The proposed design is shaped as a squad of four segments where each segment contains an octagonal split ring and a central ring. The multi-layered design of the absorber helps to secure a high absorption rate. An extensive range of research is done to determine particular measurement units, and geometric shapes with the help of CST Studio Suit 2019. Here both ground and patch are designed using copper and the separator is designed with Roger. Moreover, the thickness of the absorber is only 3.4 mm which ensures its ultra-thin and lightweight nature. With an elaborated numerical analysis, it has been shown that the proposed absorber provides 90% to 99% absorption at the C, X, and K bands. Moreover, a concise computational analysis is accomplished with FR4 lossy, Rogers RT6010LM lossy, and Rogers RT5870LM lossy as dielectric constant. The key contribution of this research is the high absorption rate, coupled with minimal thickness and simple structure. © 2024 IEEE.

Semantic segmentation refers to the segmentation of different objects within images to obtain a semantic interpretation of each pixel position based on semantic information. With the development of artificial intelligence and computer vision, intelligent visual surveillance solutions for construction sites are playing an increasingly prominent role in site monitoring. For this purpose, we propose a semantic segmentation network for intelligent scene perception in construction sites. The features are extracted with the residual block and channel-wise feature aggregation module, thus obtaining multi-scale features with rich information. Then, high-level futures are further enhanced with long-range contextual information, which is adopted as guidance for the decoding process. Experimental results show that the proposed network can efficiently process construction site scenes in real-time and has important practical applications. © 2023 SPIE.

computer science developments in medical data processing increase modeling accuracy, speed up data analysis, and obtain automated diagnostics. As a result, the role of machine learning algorithms becomes significant, as well as the need to implement faster and more accurate systems. For example, classification is a common component in computer-aided diagnostics, and choosing the proper set of predictors is critical for training a classifier model. Usually, medical datasets are highly dimensional, and their characteristical data correlations require reducing the set of features used for classification. Besides supervised grouping algorithms, genetic optimization procedures are well known for their robust verification of competing attributes by directly estimating their usefulness on a specific classifier. This paper discusses the assessment of Electroencephalogram data samples acquired during working memory load n-back scenarios using a new embedded feature selection procedure based on multi-Objective Optimization via Genetic Algorithms enhanced with a hybrid mutation operator. Experimental results focus on both the hybrid mutation operator performances, and obtaining overall higher Support Vector Machine classification accuracy while reducing the number of selected features. © 2023 IEEE.

multi-object Tracking aims to detect and track all objects while maintaining the identity consistency of each object. Most methods leverage motion and appearance cues to accomplish this task, but these cues may become unreliable in crowded and non-linear motion scenarios. To address this issue, we propose a novel robust multi-object tracker called ImprSORT. By improving data association and tracking cues within the heuristic tracking method, ImprSORT maintains robust tracking performance in crowded and non-linear motion scenarios while preserving simplicity and online tracking capabilities. ImprSORT was evaluated on multiple datasets, including DanceTrack, MOT17, and MOT20, and achieved superior performance, demonstrating strong generalization across various scenarios. Notably, ImprSORT achieved the highest IDFl score on the DanceTrack dataset, where interactions and severe occlusions occur frequently. © 2024 IEEE.

One of the most critical problems facing the blockchain technology industry right now is how to protect the privacy of users’ data on the blockchain in a way that is both effective and cheap. Based on the Pedersen commitment and the Schnorr protocol, this study comes up with a secure multi-party computing protocol (BPLSM). By making the structure of the protocol and doing formal proof calculations, it has been shown that the protocol can be used in the blockchain network to combine private messages for efficient signing while keeping people’s identities secret. Furthermore, by looking at the nature and security of the protocol, it is also possible to find that the BPLSM protocol on the blockchain has a low cost of computing and a high level of information secrecy. Furthermore, it was found that the BPLSM protocol takes less time to check than the current mainstream BLS signature in a simple multi-party transaction with a fixed number of participants. © 2024 The Author(s).

Surveillance systems play an essential role in enhancing security and ensuring safety within society. Public spaces and critical areas are commonly monitored through multi-camera networks for tracking individuals in real-time to enable quick responses to potential security threats. However, variations in lighting, camera angles, and occlusions pose significant challenges to the process of recognizing individuals across multiple camera views. This research proposes a Person Re-Identification (Re-ID) with deep learning and feature extraction method to improve the accuracy of individual matching and identification despite these challenges. This research encompasses multiple neural network topologies, such as ResNet50, ResNet101, and OSNet architectures with traditional computer vision methodologies such as Scale-Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) to examine the body part weighting coefficients and feature selection mechanisms. The results demonstrated that integrating dimensionality reduction via principal component analysis (PCA) coupled with semantic segmentation techniques yields statistically significant improvements in re-identification accuracy. The ResNet101 architecture emerges as the superior methodology, achieving performance with a Rank-1 accuracy of 0.88 and mean Average Precision (mAP) of 0.94 on the test dataset. © 2025 IEEE.

As a new concept, the metaverse received widespread attention from the industry, academia, media and the public, and many new industries have also laid out in the field of metaverse. With the increasing number of processors in modern vehicles and the growing demand for inter-processor coordination, there is an urgent need for a high-performance, high-reliability one-to-many data transmission solution. Addressing the data transmission and messaging requirements between processor systems in automotive electronics, this paper designs and implements a PCIe-based messaging architecture for multiprocessor systems. By integrating scatter-gather DMA technology, the proposed solution significantly enhances both the efficiency and reliability of data transmission in multi-processor environments, providing a feasible and efficient approach to meet the increasingly complex data transmission needs in modern automotive electronics. Initially, this paper constructs a multi-host transmission architecture that does not rely on a PCIe switch by configuring one node in the multi-host system as an RC (Root Complex) controller and the remaining nodes as endpoint devices. Subsequently, based on this PCIe transmission architecture, a message publish-subscribe scheme is developed, which effectively organizes and schedules data transmission among multiple processors. Finally, by incorporating the scatter-gather DMA transmission method, the paper achieves unified message delivery from different publishing nodes, thereby improving transmission efficiency in scenarios involving non-contiguous message transfers. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed messaging architecture effectively satisfies the communication require-ments between processors, showcasing its practicality in real-world applications. The architecture exhibits superior performance in message transmission rates, achieving an approximately 27% improvement compared to traditional PCIe methods. © 2024 IEEE.
