Companies and organizations use the legacy software for decades to serve various purposes. During this journey, the software system travels through several change requests and amendments of functionalities due to the changing nature of business and other requirements. As a result, different methodologies and implementations employed over the time are often not at all documented. So, modifying or migrating those software systems become difficult due to lack of technical knowledge about their behavior. This difficulty is even more when there is no Subject-Matter Expert (SME). Here, we propose a technique to verify the unchanged functionalities of untouched modules of the modified application by comparing with the older version of the application. Sometimes, the number of functional behaviors become irrelevant as they are no longer required by the business. However, significantly large portions of legacy applications continue executing, untouched by any modification or customization, to serve tiny yet critical purposes. Stakeholders also remain reluctant to cleanup or migrate because only for finding out the active part or functionals scope of the application is very tedious and consumes lot of effort due to lack of knowledge or documentation. Here, we have devised a mechanism to assist the migration specialists to identify the active part of an application, associated files, and data used by the active code that help in building the new one with similar functionalities. We can also assist the performance engineer by detecting the resource leakage in the application. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The business relationships between Autonomous systems (ASs) are crucial to understanding the internet structure, performance, evolution, and so on. However, the business relationships between ASs are often confidential and can only be captured by inference algorithms. This paper proposes a new algorithm to infer the ASs relationship based on the transmission capacity. A new metric for ASs node transmission capability based on path behavior is defined. Meanwhile, a big data processing technique based on Map-Reduce to deduce the ASs relationship. Besides, to analyze the accuracy of the algorithm, we compare its accuracy performance with those of existing algorithms. Through simulation experimental, the proposed scheme achieves substantial performance improvements in term of consistency and effectiveness. Also, the complexity of the proposed scheme is found to be reasonably low.

Heterogeneous edge computing has become a new computing paradigm with the aim of moving the computation away from cloud towards the edge of the network. With the rapid increase in communication data volume, changing the network structure to provide hard real-time services is one of the goals of edge computing. A proper testbed is essential for fully validating edge computing algorithms, especially for computation offloading. In this paper, we present a scalable testbed for task offloading and deployment of heterogeneous edge computing adopting cross-platform container technique to encapsulate the software environment and runtime dependencies of heterogeneous computing units. extensive experiments have demonstrated that containers do not bring extra time consumption or occupy extra computing resources.

In order to support emerging data-intensive applications, many clever frameworks have been developed over the last years to efficiently and distributedly process big data sets, such as MapReduce. However, these frameworks are often optimized for relatively homogeneous environments, and accounting, e.g., for the varying connectivity of wide-area network infrastructure, may require complex placement algorithms. In this paper, we present Nap, which allows optimizing distributed data processing frameworks such as MapReduce for heterogeneous environments. Nap allows adapting resources dynamically, without requiring complex placement or migration algorithms, or modifications to the logic of the mappers and reducers. Rather, Nap simply changes the data partition, by spawning virtual nodes (e.g., reducers) depending on the demand. To this end, Nap leverages a connection to integer partition problems and employs Young lattices to guarantee minimal completion times (i.e., the makespan). In fact, Nap comes with provable performance guarantees and also supports applications that leverage redundancy to speed up executions further. In particular, to demonstrate our framework, as a case study, we show how to execute multiway joins across wide-area networks with limited bandwidth efficiently. Our experiments, based on a proof-of-concept prototype implementation, confirm the potential of Nap to reduce completion times.

In Big Data Era, it is becoming more and more important to timely and efficient processing of massive videos, and mining of the value information contained in them. This paper studies chaotic compressed sensing theory and uses Long-term and short-term memory networks (LSTM) algorithm to generate a summary of the content of video behavior track. It has already to apply the proposed method in target recognition and tracking, and the recognition rate achieves more than 86%.

This paper focuses on the energy consumption of content distribution and sharing services that have a significant percentage of traffic on the Internet today. Taking the "energy saving" and "network robustness in traditional traffic engineering" as the dual optimization objects, a weighted green factor is introduced and an optimization model called ETE-FD (Energy-Aware Traffic engineering File Distribution) is established. The model takes into account the overlay layer and the network layer, end systems and routing nodes. A multi-machine parallel algorithm based on dual decomposition and sub-gradient projection is proposed. Even with more than 1000 nodes, the solution process is still fast. Experiments show that the adjustment range of ETE-FD for robustness can reach 58.18%, and the adjustment range of energy consumption can reach 47.09%. In the pure pursuit of performance (robustness) optimization object, the average download time has increased by nearly 90% compared to optimizing only energy consumption object. In the case of pure energy-saving optimization object, the power consumption of ETE-FD is about 10.8% lower than that of EOCFD (Energy-optimal collaborative file distribution). If set to optimize only robustness, it is about 43.9% higher than EOCFD.

computing platforms for embedded systems are increasingly being transformed into multi/many-core platforms because embedded systems have become extensive, complex, and automated. In the case of an autonomous driving system, various applications are simultaneously running, and low power consumption and large-scale calculation are required. Many-core processors with a multiple instruction, multiple data (MIMD) architecture can meet these requirements. This paper proposes a scheduling algorithm for an automotive driving system expressed in a directed acyclic graph (DAG) and we use Kalray MPPA-256 as the target many-core processor. On the basis of the architecture of Kalray MPPA-256, task processing that requires large-scale calculation and intercore communication is performed while avoiding communication contention by using a proposed grouping computational resource. In addition, we propose a scheduling method for a multi-rate DAG which is a DAG with multiple periods. This method generates a DAG task in a hyperperiod and schedules the DAG with dependency on tasks that have been released closely. The formulas for prioritization and processor selection are proposed for various generated tasks in a hyperperiod. Evaluation results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to existing DAG scheduling algorithms with regard to schedulability and deadline miss ratio.

In order to meet the requirement of rapid process preparation for new aircraft in heat and surface treatment, a method of batch acquisition of model data is proposed based on the principle of centralized batch production in heat and surface treatment workshop. The batch acquisition of MBD information, surface area, and preview are realized with the secondary development of CATIA/CAA, which provides a fast and accurate method for extracting the information needed by heat and surface process. This method improves the quality and efficiency of heat and surface treatment process and is of some practical value in aircraft manufacturing.

The living environment monitoring is a critical issue today. Many related researches focused on developing the living environment monitoring systems by using the web-based technology, but such information systems would increase the difficulty of promotion and migration to others, because of needing well-trained engineers to achieve and maintain such information system. This research focuses on developing the weather monitoring system. The main goal of the research is to use the technology of message queuing telemetry transport (MQTT) as roles of the communication layer instead of direct-connecting database, which can isolate the system migration complexity from heterogeneous relational database management system (RDBMS) and construct a distributed information system easily. Finally the contributions are demonstrated as implementation of the IoT-based weather monitoring system. The prototyping of the weather monitoring system is implemented and deployed at Wu-Tso elementary school for the students' learning of nature science and activity environment. In addition, the system is implemented using open sources and is easy to be deployed and scalable.

Quantum image processing, which is the application of quantum theory in image processing, has attracted increasing attention in recent years. In this paper, we propose a framework of Laplacian of Gaussian (LoG) edge detection algorithm for quantum images. The LoG is commonly employed as a second-order edge detector in image processing. Firstly, discrete LoG mask is obtained from the continuous Gaussian operator within certain detection error. Secondly, filter the quantum image with the LoG mask. Thirdly, to obtain the edge image, the searching for zero-crossing point of the filtered image is proposed. Finally, the time complexity is analyzed, which shows that this quantum LoG operator has polynomial-time complexity.
