Service-Oriented computing (SOC) and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) provide a paradigm for creating composite service with distributed web services over the Internet. Through the integration and coordination of distributed web Services, Web Service business Process Execution Language (BPEL) can deploy a composite service rapidly. However, in a complex dynamic network environment, it is difficult to guarantee the reliability of BPEL application. To verify the reliability of the BPEL process, this paper proposes a method which can extract the model from a BPEL process and analyze it through probabilistic model checking with Prism model checker. During the extension process, we add reliability attribute to each invoked sub-services. By structure extraction, the BPEL process is transformed to a PLTS system. Then, we generate a suitable analysis Markov model according to the feature of the PLTS model. Finally, we use PCTL formula to describe the properties of the system, and check it with Prism tool.

Virtualization of resources in cloud computing has enabled application developers to commission and recommission resources at will and on demand. This virtualization is a coin with two sides. On one hand, the flexibility in managing virtual resources has enabled application developers to more efficiently manage their costs; they can easily remove unnecessary resources or add resources temporarily when the demand suddenly increases. On the other hand, the volatility of such environment and the velocity with which changes can occur may have a greater impact on the economic position of a stakeholder and the business balance of the overall ecosystem. In this work, we recognise the business ecosystem of cloud computing as an economy of scale and explore the effect of this fact on decisions concerning scaling the infrastructure of web applications to account for fluctuations in demand. The goal is to reveal and formalize opportunities for economically optimal scaling decisions that take into account not only the cost of infrastructure, but also the revenue from service delivery and eventually the profit of the service provider.

This paper addresses the problem of adaptive stabilization control and consensus control of diffusion system based on mobile multi-agents. Multi-agents triggered by events are integrated into diffusion system using self-measurement and neighbors information. Lyapunov redesign method is used to analyze adaptive feedback gain and consensus gain, and induce every agent trajectory. Then automatic guidance strategy is further enhanced to eliminate local falling problem and potential oscillatory behavior. Numerical simulation results show that overall performance can be achieved with the guidance and control strategy in the case of multiple static disturbances or mobile disturbance.

A novel Quantum-behaved Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm with probability (P-QPSO) is introduced to improve the global convergence property of QPSO. In the proposed algorithm, all the particles keep the original evolution with large probability, and do not update the position of particles with small probability, and re-initialize the position of particles with small probability. Seven benchmark functions are used to test the performance of P-QPSO. The results of experiment show that the proposed technique can increase diversity of population and converge more rapidly than other evolutionary computation methods.

With the rapid development of internet, the distributed file system is gradually facing problem of supporting concurrent 10K and 100K servers operations, so it now becomes an important issue that how to improve performance of the metadata server in high concurrent reading/writing environments. This paper designs and implements the distributed file system named RaccoonFS, researches and solves the problem of low response speed of name space management brought by the lock competition in distributed file system, and it proposes a new metadata name space management method that realized the technology of Copy-On-Write and Multi-Version Concurrency Control in B+ tree. Through the evaluation, the name space management that combined COW and MVCC in B+ tree greatly improved the read and write performance.

In a context of explosive development in Internet scale and excessive underutilization of a large number of network elements, the power consumption issues of the current Internet have become hot subjects extensively concerned by ICT (Information and Communication Technology) sector and research institutions in recent years, which even further lead to the severe economic issues and intractable environmental issues. On the basis of above circumstances, a distributed Power-saving Topology Management Scheme (DPTMS) is devised to achieve power saving for current Internet in the paper. After introducing the network model and power model, we describe the design of DPTMS including four modules: traffic prediction module, information awareness model, distributed topology decision-making module and sleeping control module. In the simulation and evaluation, DPTMS is compared with GRiDA as for network power consumption and network performance, which shows it is feasible and effective for a power-saving topology management.

A MapReduce system gradually becomes a popular platform for developing cloud applications while MapReduce is the de facto standard programming model of the applications. However, a MapReduce system may suffer intermediate data skew to degrade performances because input data is unpredictable and the Map function of the application may generate different quantities of intermediate data according to the application algorithm. A MapReduce system can use the Idempotent Task Cache System (ITCS) proposed in this paper to handle intermediate data skew. A MapReduce system can avoid negative performance impacts of intermediate data skew with ITCS by using caches to skip the high workload of processing skewed intermediate data in certain Reduce tasks. In experiments, a MapReduce system is tested with several popular applications to prove that ITCS not only alleviates performance penalties when intermediate data skew happens, but also greatly outperforms native MapReduce systems without any help of ITCS.

Mobile computing is a new computing technology which is developed after mobile communication and distributed computing technology. The analysis and research on the interaction with mobility can improve the system construction, the business restructuring and the quality management in the complex business process. Firstly, the pi-calculus is proposed as the basic language for the formalizing of mobile communication based on the analysis and redefinition of the interaction with mobility. In the sense of the structural congruence, a formal framework of the interaction with mobility is constructed by defining the general unit and the unit instance based on the mobility of channels in the pi-calculus. At last, the semantic correctness of the formal framework is simulated and derived according to the structured operational semantics of the process algebra.

With the increasing requirements of large-scale animation rendering, I/O congestion has become one of the main bottlenecks to constrain the whole performance seriously. What's worse, frequent rendering data access in remote storages brings a heavy burden of storage and delay of data access. distributed Memory caching System for Rendering (RenDMS) is proposed to alleviate I/O congestion and improve data access performance. Rendering data is accessed from memories but not remote storages to reduce the overhead of data access and transmission. The concept of rendering unit is put forward to cluster rendering nodes, and MPI-based RPC, two-level data management, and dynamic adaptive placement are proposed to make rendering performance much better. Experiments have demonstrated the effectiveness of RenDMS. Compared with direct remote disk access, parallel rendering with RenDMS can not only shorten data access time more than 40%, but also speedup the execution of rendering applications efficiently.

Cloud computing in recent years has become very popular and, indeed, many current applications are served from the cloud. Because the cloud architecture is based on virtual machines, VMs and VM management are quite important. Monitoring a large number of virtual machines is an important research topic. Since the establishment of the Personal Information Protection Act, there has been more attention focused on cloud security. Among cloud security topics, log analysis allows insight into virtual machine operation. If there are incidents, they need to be reported instantly in order to maintain information security. Consequently, log collection and real time warning systems are necessary. In this paper, we propose a distributed management architecture and evaluate its system performance. We also discuss the effects on the system due to bandwidth and background traffic ratios, VM numbers and transmission time using a set of simulations. The results show the proposed architecture not only saves time, but also reduces the load of log transmission for monitoring cloud services.
