This paper focuses on the energy consumption of content distribution and sharing services that have a significant percentage of traffic on the Internet today. Taking the "energy saving" and "network robustness in traditional traffic engineering" as the dual optimization objects, a weighted green factor is introduced and an optimization model called ETE-FD (Energy-Aware Traffic engineering File Distribution) is established. The model takes into account the overlay layer and the network layer, end systems and routing nodes. A multi-machine parallel algorithm based on dual decomposition and sub-gradient projection is proposed. Even with more than 1000 nodes, the solution process is still fast. Experiments show that the adjustment range of ETE-FD for robustness can reach 58.18%, and the adjustment range of energy consumption can reach 47.09%. In the pure pursuit of performance (robustness) optimization object, the average download time has increased by nearly 90% compared to optimizing only energy consumption object. In the case of pure energy-saving optimization object, the power consumption of ETE-FD is about 10.8% lower than that of EOCFD (Energy-optimal collaborative file distribution). If set to optimize only robustness, it is about 43.9% higher than EOCFD.

The rapid development of the latest distributedcomputing paradigm, i. e., cloud computing, generates a highly fragmented cloud market composed of numerous cloud providers and offers tremendous parallel computing ability to handle big data problems. One of the biggest challenges in multiclouds is efficient workflow scheduling. Although the workflow scheduling problem has been studied extensively, there are still very few primal works tailored for multicloud environments. Moreover, the existing research works either fail to satisfy the quality of service (QoS) requirements, or do not consider some fundamental features of cloud computing such as heterogeneity and elasticity of computing resources. In this paper, a scheduling algorithm, which is called multiclouds partial critical paths with pretreatment (MCPCPP), for big data workflows in multiclouds is presented. This algorithm incorporates the concept of partial critical paths, and aims to minimize the execution cost of workflow while satisfying the defined deadline constraint. Our approach takes into consideration the essential characteristics of multiclouds such as the charge per time interval, various instance types from different cloud providers, as well as homogeneous intrabandwidth vs. heterogeneous interbandwidth. Various types of workflows are used for evaluation purpose and our experimental results show that the MCPCPP is promising.

In distributed database systems, replication is the most widely used approach to offering high data availability, increased fault tolerance, and improved scalability of the overall system. However, the primary concern with this technique is not only to provide high availability and reliability but also to boost the performance of data replication, i.e. to minimize response time and maximize throughput. We propose an analytical model for asynchronous replication technique ( ART) by copying the data and replicating it to remote sites on a continuous basis. A remote copy of the data is created at a subsequent time after the primary copy is updated. The model is based on the M/G/1 queuing system by taking into account intersite communication between sites in the systems.

In mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), a single certificate authority (CA) node could be a security bottleneck. Multiple replica of CA is fault tolerant, but the network is as vulnerable as single CA or even worse since breaking one of the CAs means breaking all of them. Many distributed CA models based on the secret sharing scheme are proposed. In this paper, the suitable construction of the distributed CA is discussed based on the optimization theory. By the analyzing of the characters of the distributed CA in MANETS and the processes of the secure services provided, the optimization model is built. The mean response time of the applications is the optimization goal and the service success probability, system security probability and the loss probability of applications are the constraints in the optimization model. A classic resolving process of the optimization model is given, which is instructional for designing the construction of distributed CA applied in MANETs.
