In light of recent advancements in Internet of Multimedia Things (IoMT) and 5G technology, both the variety and quantity of data have been rapidly increasing. Consequently, handling zero-shot cross-modal retrieval (ZSCMR) of unlabeled multi-modal data has emerged as a prominent research topic. Early models utilized generative adversarial networks and class embeddings to assist in building a common feature space. However, this approach resulted in a loss of reliability in the feature distributions of individual modalities. In this paper, we propose a method called Ranking on Heterogeneous Manifold (RHM) to address the aforementioned issue. Our model comprises three feature extractors, each dedicated to extracting features from text, images and multimodal data. Subsequently, the relationship structures derived from these feature extractors are employed to construct a heterogeneous manifold. A diffusion process is then conducted on this heterogeneous manifold, ultimately yielding the final ranking scores. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed modal has the capability to acquire more effective knowledge representation, thus enhancing the effectiveness of ZSCMR. © 2023 IEEE.

Agent oriented software engineering has become one of the attractions for the researchers to work on. It includes intelligent element agents which are the combination of computer science and artificial intelligence and thus have common sense ability in them. Multiple agents, which work together to form a single while communicating to each other to achieve a common goal are said to be Multi-agents. There exist various applications of the AOSE and these are required to be implemented in some tool. One of the important applications is business Area in which agents are used to check and enhance data-usage, control-flow and resource utilization. Resource utilization is the main aspect to be concentrated. In this research paper, multiple techniques are applied on Colored Petri Nets naming, Staff ware and File net, and then there efficiency is being checked to measure the best among them. © 2022 IEEE.

The distributed computing continuum systems (DCCS) and representation learning (ReL) are two diverse computer science technologies with their use cases, applications, and benefits. The DCCS helps increase flexibility with improved performance of hybrid IoT-Edge-Cloud infrastructures. In contrast, representation learning extracts the features (meaningful information) and underlying explanatory factors from the given datasets. With these benefits, using ReL for DCCS to improve its performance by monitoring the devices will increase the utilization efficiency, zero downtime, etc. In this context, this paper discusses the promising role of ReL for DCCS in terms of different aspects, including device condition monitoring, predictions, management of the systems, etc. This paper also provides a list of ReL algorithms and their pitfalls which helps DCCS by considering various constraints. In addition, this paper list different challenges imposed on ReL to analyze DCCS data. It also provides future research directions to make the systems autonomous, performing multiple tasks simultaneously with the help of other AI/ML approaches.

Modern scientific applications are increasingly decomposable into individual functions that may be deployed across distributed and diverse cyberinfrastructure such as supercomputers, clouds, and accelerators. Such applications call for new approaches to programming, distributed execution, and function-level management. We present UniFaaS, a parallel programming framework that relies on a federated function-as-a-service (FaaS) model to enable composition of distributed, scalable, and high-performance scientific workflows, and to support fine-grained function-level management. UniFaaS provides a unified programming interface to compose dynamic task graphs with transparent wide-area data management. UniFaaS exploits an observe-predict-decide approach to efficiently map workflow tasks to target heterogeneous and dynamic resources. We propose a dynamic heterogeneity-aware scheduling algorithm that employs a delay mechanism and a re-scheduling mechanism to accommodate dynamic resource capacity. Our experiments show that UniFaaS can efficiently execute workflows across computing resources with minimal scheduling overhead. We show that UniFaaS can improve the performance of a real-world drug screening workflow by as much as 22.99% when employing an additional 19.48% of resources and a montage workflow by 54.41% when employing an additional 47.83% of resources across multiple distributed clusters, in contrast to using a single cluster.

The new challenging era of scientific data management in the coming decade named "Big Data" requires giant complexes for distributed computing and corresponding grid-cloud internet services. Known common approaches to software reliability based on the probability theory or on considering software as an open non-equilibrium dynamic system cannot conform to advanced grid-cloud software management systems. Therefore to provide the optimality and reliability of such sophisticated systems we choose the imitative simulation method oriented on a knowledge of dynamics of the system functioning. A new grid and cloud service simulation system was developed in the JINR Dubna laboratory of information technologies which focused on improving the efficiency and reliability of the grid-cloud systems development by using work quality indicators of some real system to design and predict its evolution. For these purposes the simulation program is combined with real monitoring system of the grid cloud service through a special database. Some examples of the program applications to simulate a sufficiently general cloud structure, which can be used for more common purposes, are given.

Discrete Event Simulation is a widely used technique that is used to model and analyze complex systems in many fields of science and engineering. The increasingly large size of simulation models poses a serious computational challenge, since the time needed to run a simulation can be prohibitively large. For this reason, Parallel and Distributes Simulation techniques have been proposed to take advantage of multiple execution units which are found in multicore processors, cluster of workstations or HPC systems. The current generation of HPC systems includes hundreds of thousands of computing nodes and a vast amount of ancillary components. Despite improvements in manufacturing processes, failures of some components are frequent, and the situation will get worse as larger systems are built. In this paper we describe FT-GAIA, a software-based fault-tolerant extension of the GAIA/ART` IS parallel simulation middleware. FT-GAIA transparently replicates simulation entities and distributes them on multiple execution nodes. This allows the simulation to tolerate crash-failures of computing nodes;furthermore, FT-GAIA offers some protection against Byzantine failures since synchronization messages are replicated as well, so that the receiving entity can identify and discard corrupted messages. We provide an experimental evaluation of FT-GAIA on a running prototype. Results show that a high degree of fault tolerance can be achieved, at the cost of a moderate increase in the computational load of the execution units.

The current numerical simulation system is developing in the direction of large-scale, complex and service-oriented because of the high integration of numerical simulation technology development and equipment research. However, the numerical simulation research of the three important links of prediction, evaluation and optimization for the ship general performance is highly dependent on foreign commercial software. It is urgent to integrate multidisciplinary fusion methods and data knowledge engineering to implement independent research and development of numerical simulation systems. In order to remodel the research and development mode of ship general performance, the experience and lessons in the development of industrial software are summarized in this paper. The research and development concept of numerical simulation system for ship general performance including 'crowd-innovation and sharing', knowledge collaborative application, and intelligent are proposed to improve ship R & D capability. © 2022 IEEE.

It is of practical significance and great value to find out a sevice-oriented modeling technique for integration of oil-drilling engineering applications deployed on grid sites. In this paper, a domain-specific model for oil-drilling engineering is suggested. Furthermore, a business component model for mapping domain-specific model into real system is proposed. Two models contribute the decoupling of business process and identification of business components, and offer the benefits of extensibility, modularity, and reusability. Finally, a real case, Simulation System of Oil-Drilling engineering, shows the modeling techniques is practical to integrate domain-specific software.

Recently there has been a massive increase in computing requirements for parallel applications. These parallel applications and supporting cluster services often need to share system-wide resources. The coordination of these applications is typically managed by a distributed lock manager. The performance of the lock manager is extremely critical for application performance. Researchers have shown that the use of two sided communication protocols, like TCP/IP (used by current generation lock managers), can have significant impact on the scalability of distributed lock managers. in addition, existing one-sided communication based locking designs support locking in exclusive access mode only and can pose significant scalability limitations on applications that need both shared and exclusive access modes like cooperative/file-system caching. Hence the utility of these existing designs in high performance scenarios can be limited. In this paper we present a novel protocol, for distributed locking services, utilizing the advanced network-level one-sided atomic operations provided by InfiniBand. Our approach augments existing approaches by eliminating the need for two sided communication protocols in the critical locking path. Further we also demonstrate that our approach provides significantly higher performance in scenarios needing both shared and exclusive mode access to resources. Our experimental results show 39% improvement in basic locking latencies over traditional send/receive based implementations. Further we also observe a significant (upto 317% for 16 nodes) improvement over existing RDMA based distributed queuing schemes for shared mode locking scenarios.

Recently, a new concept called desktop cloud emerged, which was developed to offer cloud computing services on non-dedicated resources. Similarly to cloud computing, desktop clouds are based on virtualization, and like other computational systems, may experience faults at any time. As a consequence, reliability has become a concern for researchers. Fault-tolerance strategies focused on independent virtual machines include snapshots (checkpoints) to resume the execution from a healthy state of a virtual machine on the same or another host, which is trivial because hypervisors provide this function. However, it is not trivial to obtain a global snapshot of a distributed system formed by applications that communicate among them because the concept of global clock does not exist, so it can not be guaranteed that snapshots of each VM will be taken at the same time. Therefore, some protocol is needed to coordinate the participants to obtain a global snapshot. In this paper, we propose a global snapshot protocol called UnaCloud Snapshot for its application in the context of desktop clouds over TCP/IP networks. That differs from other proposals that use a virtual network to inspect and manipulate the traffic circulating among virtual machines making it difficult to apply them to more realistic environments. We obtain a consistent global snapshot for a general distributed system running on virtual machines that maintains the semantics of the system without modifying applications running on virtual machines or hypervisors. A first prototype was developed and the preliminary results of our evaluation are presented.
